When it happened, it really wasn't as bad as you'd think. It was afterwards, when the truth really set in. To be honest, it's almost a little hard to believe that she's gone at all, just because she'd always been there, you know?

Yeah, it took me a while to get used to it too... I was constantly listening for the jingle of his collar for nearly a week before I think it really set in. Guess old habits are hard to break...

I kept half expecting to hear her clacking across the wooden floor, or thumping against the ground while she scratched, or whining at the door for the first few days... and it kind of killed my appetite for a day or two.
