  1. Looking at the relevant images, they do look quite similar to the visual style of the game, and I'm slightly open to the possibility of them being from there. However, the dramatic angles and muted colours of the Nui-Rama and Makuta battle look far more like cutscenes than actual gameplay. And the three cutscenes in the game that we know of don't feature any (non-Manas) Rahi or Makuta.

If from the game, I think they would probably be concept art. I'm not sure if there is a complete digital copy of all the 2001 trading cards to check against, but perhaps this is where they are from? Most if not all of the other images appear on the trading cards. It kind-of looks like the simplistic CG images on some of the trading cards.
  2. The clips you're referring to were on bioniclestory.com, right? I know Zeene backed up the entire site, but he hasn't been around for a while and the site where he uploaded the backup doesn't appear to be active anymore. Dunno if anyone else saved them.

    These clips?

    2001

    2002

    2003

If so, I don't think they were on bioniclestory.com, at least not when I backed it all up here.

Didn't the credits from the videos that deepbrick gave us have a list of the beta testers? Why doesn't someone try to find them?

It's touch to say what a "beta tester" was in this case. Most likely I think they were internal testers, who may or may not have a copy.
  3. How do you know? Is there a way to tell? I'm just starting to learn programming, so all this is mostly new to me.

There's really nothing else it could have been written in, especially at that time. All other Windows LEGO games at the time were made this way and it's still what most professional Windows games are made with today. We also know that they were using Direct X's binary X model format.

  4. What do you guys think "the glitch" is, anyway?

My best guess is the kill-z (the point at which the character goes down too far and dies regardless of any falls, which may technicaly be a kill-y) is set too high, possibly to accomodate other areas of the level. Impossible to say for sure without the actual game, but whatever it is I could probably beat it in a days work.

The downloads and links from BioMedia Project seem to have some issues for me, unfortunately.

    What problems are you having?

It downloads all audio files/music as a zip, but then opens to have no content. Not sure if it's an issue with the site or my computer, but I'm leaning towards thinking it's my super spastic laptop.

Are you downloading them then extracting them? What OS are you using and what are you using to extract it with? Also, is the ZIP about 288MB in size?

  6. GregF actually made a blog entry on the subject four years ago. idk if it still holds true today, but it seems that at least at the time, the position was that anyone with a copy of the game wasn't allowed to distribute it because LEGO owns the copyright or something.

Keep in mind that LEGO will say something similar to literally anything you ask them for. They have to because of copyright and patent trolls.

At present, I fear that there really isn't much possibility that The Legend of Mata Nui will ever see the light of day. At least we were fortunate enough to get the cutscenes and a walkthrough of the first level from DeepBrick. :shrugs:

Could you put up a link to those? I haven't seen them.

This YouTube channel has them all: https://www.youtube.com/user/MarkOfMoD

Too bad IPB doesn't give a way to see what posts are being liked/thanked/up-voted appart from crawling through your old posts. It would be a nice way to determine what people appreciate.

Actually, if you consult your profile, there's now a tab that notifies you of somebody "liking" your post. This should work for other members as well, so you can see what other people "liked" about them as well.

Nice! That should have been there all along.

  8. Has anyone who's seen the movie stayed to see if there's a post-credits scene (those are all the rage now)? Don't tell me what it is - I just want to know if I should sit through all the credits or not.

There isn't. The credits for the big names have unique backgrounds, but after that it's just plain backgrounds. I thouht it was worth staying for the music though.
  9. Cant someone "Trick" lego into saying yes? Like "oh I found a copy can I send it to a friend?"

Why cant DeepBrick just leak it? I know its illegal, but if you do it from another computer on mediafire or something, then who will know???

As for the first question, I believe the reason that's impossible (at least in part) is because LEGO doesn't own the full rights to the game itself; the rights are partially owned by some guy who I think some way or another obtained the rights to a bunch of Saffire's intellectual property at once after they went bankrupt.

I also strongly doubt that LEGO has kept any real records of their dealing with Saffire all these years, plus fear of copyright and pattent trolls means that their legal team will doubtlessly say "no" to everyone about anything, unless you are also a large company with similar concerns.

In regards to the second, there could be a number of reasons - maybe it's a matter of ethics, or perhaps DB wants to avoid any possibility whatsoever for legal problems, or something else entirely. I believe RQ may have given a specific reason in the original topic but that was unfortunately lost with the rest of the archives.

As far as I know, the most recent information about the game can be found in this thread on the BMP forums.

Yeah, if we get any real updates I'll post an update there. Myself and a few others are continuing to contact individuals who may have the game or information on it. Of course, if anyone has any leads, I would love to hear them.

Hello all!!!!!!!!! Okay, so I have found a way to view the old fourms. The Wayback Machine!!!! With this site, you can see websites that have been archived over time. So, I decided to go on it to see the old posts relating to BIONICLE: Legends of Mata Nui. All of the information relating to the game was lost. No one knows what RedQuark had said, no one knows anything. So, I found this old fourm about the game, and it has posts from RedQuark ect. Apparently, only Deep Brick, and some "crazy game employee" are known to own a copy of the game. DeepBrick, would only communicate through RedQuark, and he sent him videos and gameplay footage. ALL the info about the game comes from Deep Brick. Now, back to the present, if any of us have any plans of ever seeing this game, someone, somehow, has to get in contact with Deep Brick. Trouble is, who the ###### is he? I'm trying to search members in the WayBack Machine, but searously who is he???

Something tells me our chances of getting the game from Deep Brick are extreamly low, I think we have a better chance of getting it from someone else. We do know that he is not the only one to have owned a copy.

DeepBrick wasn't a member, if I recall correctly. That is why he only communicated through RedQuark. Again, IIRC, he was an employee of the developmental studio that worked on the game.

That is about all I remember though. *shrug*

He was not a member of any fansite, at least not by this name. While it's likely he worked on the game, we do not know for certain what his relation to the game was.

I thought that game wasn't finished?

    That's correct.

There's other ongoing leads in the game, but I won't divulge any information about them for the sake of preserving their possible success. (There can't be a bunch of people contacting them at all the same time.)

Yeah, experience has shown that this is necessary.

  10. Too bad IPB doesn't give a way to see what posts are being liked/thanked/up-voted appart from crawling through your old posts. It would be a nice way to determine what people appreciate.

I know some concerns have been raised in the past that this will discourage people from posting, but I feel there's only been anecdotal evidence to support that. More likely, people who just view topics and don't reply will use this feature to indicate they think something is cool, even if they don't have something constructive and in-depth to say about it.

I swear I said the same thing a year or so ago. Surprised there's nobody claiming the opposite as insistently as before. Anywho, I can't say I'll be using this feature much, but then, I haven't seen much on here to entertain my interests in a couple of years now. Maybe I'll be able to help encourage people to post the things I like.

  11. Honestly, I think the BIONICLE video games were pretty bad, even in the realm of video games based off of existing IP, which tend not to be as good as original concepts. The games were frustrating, and weren't backed by canon story. That being said, I absolutely think there should have been at least one more game, and there nearly was. From what I've seen of the cancelled 2001 video game BIONICLE: The Legend of Mata Nui, it's hard to imagine the game being worse than the 2003 game, and there was certainly enough time left before release to fix the major issues. Plus, it was intended to be the 2001 canon story line, something that wasn't attempted in subsequent games. Except for that game, unless significant effort and very careful and early planning were put into a game, and the gameplay wasn't based on TT's repetative and recycled engine which probably would not have happened after 2006, I don't think more BIONICLE video games were necessary.

So apparently the beta is only available for the US and Canada for now, for whatever reasons. Not that I ever cared too much about this game anyway.-Gata signoff.png

Same. Still, they should add beavers and lizards though. :D Oh, and never buy membership. Costs too much a year. Besides, 60 dollars for 1 year membership? Thats a rip-off.

If only there were some way to use the internet in another country... :)

Though personally, I lost all interest in the game after about an hour of closed beta.

  13.

Thanks for sharing this, I had doubted whether I would ever have the opportunity to hear it. It has certainly lived up to and exceeded my expectations. :P Is there any chance you may be able to upload the other song, even if it isn't quite so remarkable as BIONICLE Brain?

...FineIF YOU INSISTBut keep in mind that by distracting from the glory of Bionicle Brain you have singlehandedly ruined this entire topicThis is now a thing that will be weighing on your conscience forever

There's no download possibility on the second song! How can I get it?

And, by the way, the Bionicle Brain... I wish I were deaf. :/

You could use the console or network panel in your browser's developer tools or use a website like this: http://offliberty.com/#https://soundcloud.com/limeparadox/bionicle-tour-2003-techno-mix

  14. I just use cheat codes.

Where can I get some? :P

In MNOLG2 type in 'Kapura' and start goofing with the F1 - F12 keys.

Are you sure the F1-F12 keys do things? I thought just the number keys did.

There's also some sort of thing you can do in Kolhii matches where you can automatically win. I'll have to find JMMB's post on that.

There's offscreen buttons you can see by resizing the projector window that you can click and win or lose instantly. It's not visible on the championship, but you can press tab until it highlights with a yellow boy and press enter.

  15. In one sense, when Kopaka Nuva thought Pohatu Nuva died beneath a pile of rubble in the 4th book. I thought that was pretty well written and a little upsetting, even thought I was pretty sure he wasn't dead. In another sense, how Vakama Hordika went bad, it was just sad that Greg was forced to write that, it was so bad. Outside of the story, but on account of the story we haven't gotten to see, the cancellation of the 2001 video game. I'm still upset about that, especially knowing it may have been cancelled in part over something as absurd as video game violence.

  16. "
It's current offline. The server is still the same but we don't have a domain pointing to it at the moment. Sorry it's taking us so long to get back online, we're working on it. We will be at a new, more appropriate domain when we're back online.

    "

Do you have an idea on when it will be back on?

Within 2 weeks I hope. Maybe soon, as soon as today.

If there's something you need, I found a URL you can use to get to the files above.

  17. DCR files can be downloaded like any other, but they'll always open in your web browser, although they are still offline.Basically, though, this is just what tronec.org and the BOGA achieved. Unfortunately, both of those websites are down at the moment but I hope the BMP will find its way back online before too long.-Gata signoff.png

We're hung up on domain transfers. Hopefully we will be back online soon.

DCR's can sometimes be hacked together into executables, I've managed to do this for about half of the online Shockwave games we ripped. It involves splicing the bytes from one Shockwave projector's DCR together with another DCR of the same Shockwave version supplying any necessary Xtras and DLL's (depending on how the original projector was setup). It's definitely not perfect, of course neither is Shockwave Player, but when it works it works.

Also, we have executables for MNOGII that should be compatible with any Windows, OSX, or Linux computer that was compatible with Flash Player 9-10.

  18. ANY glitch in Mata Nui Online Game 2 that prevents you from going further in the game. Also, I've discovered a glitch in the Rahi vs Tohunga battles of MNOG when you defend Kini-Nui. At some stage with a Muaka in it, the Muaka will kill at least two Matoran then get ready to attack. But if you charge up all of your Matoran at once, both sides won't do anything but "dance". This goes on forever, so I call it the "Eternal Dance Party" glitch.

I remember that glitch, it was annoying. Good to know what causes it.

The worst I discovered was in VNOG. Here's what it was: When you used the skin cheat for the Piraka or from what I saw any character beside the Inika would disappear for a few seconds, and would reappear when you moved that character.I have still not found the solution to this problem.HDXC2000 6.0

It's because they don't have diagonal movement sprites. The only way to fix it would be to replace the character SWF's.

  19.

In MNGOII, all undeclared variables equal "" rather than undefined, like they should. Because of this, all the checks for somevarible == undefined fail and scenes will try to play before they are really ready. To this day I still don't know why this happens, but so lng as you play offline or have fast internet and use kapura + 8 when all else fails, it's a non-issue.

Most intriguing. So basically that's what broke MNOG II, apart from corrupt scenes and conversation files. Thanks for posting this. :D This said, those were the most annoying glitches. Those and the one in VNOG that broke your game if you defeated Vezok before Reidak or something.-Gata signoff.png

Yep, that's what broke it. It's as though it's partially being thrown into SWF5 AS compatibility for undeclared variables but otherwise using SWF6 AS compatibility as evidenced by it functioning at all. Since this isn't how a SWF6 should behave, and in my test do not behave, all I can figure is newer Flash Player versions are glitching over a tag in the SWF or a piece of ActionScript code causing the ASVM to use "" instead of undefined.
