So everyone knows that in the MU's past Mahri-Nui "fell off" of Voya-Nui and landed somewhere on the ocean floor some time after Mata-Nui's big fall. But what did they land on? I was always under the impression that they landed on the edge of some kind of undersea cliff that led down to the pit, but if that's true then somehow a giant cliff formed on Mata-Nui's chest some time after the Great Cataclysm and the last I checked, giant cliffs don't naturally form that way. So am I simply misinformed as to the way that Mahri-Nui existed in Aqua-Magna, or is there no real explanation for this? I guess the island may have landed ON Mata-Nui but then how did the "cliff-Pit" thing work out? Most likely I'm only mistaken here, but I don't have an explanation and I wondered what everyone else had understood of all this.

Toa of Green and Creating Life
Loading... replied to Loading...'s topic in Bionicle Storyline & Theories
The only reason I thought Toa of Green were weak was because of this question, whether they could create plants. I thought they could only control plants that pre-existed, a weakness in a foliage deficient world like the MU. -
Toa of Green and Creating Life
Loading... replied to Loading...'s topic in Bionicle Storyline & Theories
If they could create any variety within, then, in theory, could a Toa of Green create something as sentient and intelligent as the Morbussak...Morbuzz...I won't even try, you know what I mean hopefully. Could they create something that powerful? It has felt like Toa of Plant Life are "push-overs", especially considering the only one we've seen died so...easily, but with power like this they could be seen as much more of a threat. =\ -
The simplistic form of my question is whether or not a Toa of Plant Life can create plant life from thin air using thier Elemetal Energy, and whether they can create different forms of plant life (Trees vs. Vines vs. Fowers). I guess another question would then be whether a Toa of Plant Life could create, in theory, an endless supply of food (friut, nuts, vegetables) though the recharging of their EE.

From the information given about the Barraki and their reign, I got the feeling that a majority of the universe doesn't remember or doesn't know about the time when Pridak and co. literally ruled the universe. However, in that same amount of time on Sperus Magna, pretty much everyone and anyone remembers and knows about the core war that took place in a time before the Barraki even ruled. Am I overlooking something or is this just the way it really is? I suppose it's likely that more people than I'm thinking of actually remember the Barraki, but it still seemed like the world was supposed to have forgotten Pridak and co. Somewhere along these lines, I also have another time question. In both Bara-Magna and the MU, how many "generations" have past since the Shattering? It feels like there was only one generation added in at least Bara-Magna's case, but again, if the MU was supposed to have forgotten the Barraki, it seems like only one added generation (possibly no generation added at all considering the lack of reincarnation after the Red Star failed) wouldn't be enough to make universal rulers become forgotten.(Sorry for spelling and grammar mistakes, and if anything came out sounding idiotic =P)

The title says it, but did Kongu's cross-bow actually function as a bow or cross-bow when he was a Toa Ignika?

As comical as the mental image of Rahi flying into a waterfall and getting washed away into Karda-Nui is, both that and the portal option do make sense to some level.
-
Recently in the Thousand Years Untold 2 Contest the winning entry, or at least the one that received to most votes, included the existence of Nui-Kopen in Karda-Nui's swamps, and even if this is not technical canon, I believe there were also other Rahi besides that living there "conanally" as well. So what I'm confused about is how they got there?I know Mutran brought some Rahi when he came, but there were also others living there long before the Makuta arrived, so...?*my phone cut my topic off before I finished which led to the edit, sorry for the confusion.

How does the Nuva- Cube fit into this?It acted as a lock of sorts for the Bahrag, but was there an actual purpose, or a theorized purpose like with the symbols?

Opinions On Organic Species

@BonesiiiWell, I have to admit that you're right. I'm making a bad argument, and you pointed it it out to me greatly, without making me feel like a complete imbecile. I still don't feel like the choice was as good as some others that could have been made, but that's only my personal opinion.I hope that opinion will change and the idea of naturally organic characters will grow on me, and you actually have me partially convinced on how to and why, so thanks. -
Opinions On Organic Species

Yes they have been there, but it has only been a few animals, the plant life (the plants of Mata-Nui could possibly be made of protodermis considering the island was created from an energised protodermis spill), and two sentient plant villians (who may have been made of organic protodermis as well, considering they were made by Teridax), not an entire planet of organic beings. I think that the only new possibilities are more organic beings existing somewhere else in the universe. This is part of why I didn't like the change to organic beings as the natural inhabitants of the world. It means that biomechanical creatures are the very small minority, and there may be no others in the universe. I think you may have misunderstood what I meant, or I'm misunderstanding what you're saying. I don't think that the Spherus Magna species are actual humans in any way, but I do think that they are more human-like compared to past characters due to being naturally organic and non robotic. I don't accept that premise either, imagination is good. But there is a difference between adding more imagination, and moving against an original idea that has been created and sustained for almost a decade. Bionicle's story has moved through many different characters and locations, thusly adding imagination and keeping the story from becoming boring. However it has always remained a story about biomechanical beings. This idea about a world made up of "living machines" with emotions and free wills is a big part of what makes Bionicle unique. The change to organic characters disrupted that. Adding imagination doesn't detract from past imagination, but I think that breaking from a consistent theme that made a storyline unique does detract from the past. If I said that we never had organic creatures of any kind, then yes, I would have to say "except, except, except." But I'm trying not to say that. (Emphasis on trying)Like my other comment mentioned, we certainly have had organic creatures. But we haven't had main characters, entire species, or a whole planet made up of naturally organic creatures. -

Yes, however their "robot-ness" wasn't as noted or noticeable in the past. For most of Bionicle's history everything was biomechanical, robotic, or plant life with only the few exceptions of organic wildlife. Even though they were always robotic, there was nothing to compare them against and it felt like they were very "human" in areas beyond simply their emotions.Once there were naturally organic sentient species added to the canon, that were undeniably "human", the past biomechanical characters lost part of their humanity.Either way, I must admit that I know I'm biased by nostalgia-goggles twords parts of Bionicle so I apologise for any nonsensical arguments based completely on one sided opinions. -

Actually I never heard the nanotech comment from Greg. Though I agree it is poetic, and I like term.I was referencing something more along the lines of when Gelu comments on Orde's eyes being mechanical receptors in The Yesterday Quest. -

@toa kopaka4372The feeling you had with the unintentional AI glitch was basicly how I felt when Greg started referencing the fact that the MU matoran were so robotic. It removed the feeling that they were living things for me. -

I have to agree with your second statement, making the Great Beings natural living beings was a good idea in my book. There was just something I didn't like about all of the older characters being robots, that weren't even meant to become as sentient as the did, and having all the other natural characters.Maybe it still just needs to grow on me. -
I had a question for the community on the introduction of organic, natural species in Bionicle's recent history. My question is basically this: For a majority of Bionicle's history, it has had bio-mechanical characters for its main figures. However, when Bara-Magna/Spherus-Magna was introduced, Bionicle gained fully organic or at least naturally organic characters. In my opinion, this was a bad idea. Creating organic species has, for me, defamed the Great Beings and the semi-robotic inhabitants of the MU. It may only be me, but did anyone else feel this way? Would you have rather had the Agori, Glatorian, Skrall perhaps also be creations of the Great Beings from long before the creation of Mata-Nui? What are your opinions?
-
I know, and I have read it, I just wasn't sure if anyone else had information beyond what was stated in the serials.
-
What was the extent of the control Mata-Nui and Teridax had over the Matoran Universe while they were in control? Could they move the land, water, gravity or other things? What exactly could they have done if they had wanted to?Also, partly unrelated, what was the water outside of MetruNui's silver sea made of? Protodermis also or actual water?
-
I believe that was the idea. I'll try and make it clearer when I edit the chapter later on. Any nitpicking is helpful, it'll simply make my writing better.Actually, I originally had the canister out in the water. When Tahu was ejected, he landed on the beach with his feet still in the water. Later, I changed it so that the canister was farther into the beach. However I didn't remember the correlation between where Tahu landed and where I placed the Toa Canister and so the inconsistency was created. Thank you for noticing. :)As for not knowing what water is, Tahu had lost his memory but he would not have lost the understanding of what water was. He didn't remember his past but he would have remembered more general and universal pieces of information, such as how to talk or what water was.

Wow, thank you. You don't know how encouraging that is to hear. It's sort of funny though, when I was finishing everything up I was convinced I didn't have nearly enough details. I'm hoping to use this as the beginning of something in the Epics section of BZP actually, so thank you very much.

I'm certainly no expert, but personally I thought your story was good considering its shortness. I would have enjoyed it if there had been more to it.Also, as a question, near the beginning of the story the main character makes it sound as though he saw his fellow Toas' retreat as part of their agreed plan, but at the end he calls then traitors. This seems contradictory. I take it that the change could easily be explained as part of his mutation, but I thought I would ask.Once again though, pretty nice job. Keep improving.

(This is actually a part of a bigger project I'm thinking of working on, but I want to get some of your opinions on how I could make things better, or if I should, you know, give up =P. Thank you ahead of time to everyone who critiques or comments.) Fire He awoke to find himself lying on a beach. The ocean waves broke against the sandy shore before quickly receding back into the ocean. What seemed like birds flew overhead, turning black as they passed under the sun. It was just past the noon hour and the sun still stood high in the sky. One thought came through his mind as the crystal surf lapped under his feet. I hate water… Slowly heaving himself to his feet, he looked around. Before him sat a warm sandy shore leading out into an endless ocean, interrupted only by a large cylindrical canister that lay settled into the shore. Its silvery surface reflected the sunlight like a polished stone, contrasting its dim and hallow innards. Perhaps a bio closer to him, what looked like a similarly hallow metallic dome had sunken partially into the sand. Inside both, small metal tubes snaked between panels and boxes that protruded out from the walls. Lights strewn inside flickered on and off before dying out only to flare back to life and continue their erratic dance. Whatever the oddity was, he began to perceive that its size and shape corresponded too perfectly to his own to be a coincidence. It appeared likely that the vessel was what had brought him here. However there was still the matter of understanding where “here” was. He turned quickly to the right, a bit too quickly. He had only been conscious for a few moments and the sudden change in movement sent his mind reeling. Stumbling back a few steps, he tried to regain control of himself. The ground seemed to move beneath him nearly throwing him back to the ground. Dropping to his knees he gripped his head trying to break through the fog that began to seep into his mind. “What’s happening to me?” he whispered angrily to himself, his temper beginning to blaze. Digging his hands into the sand, he tightened his metal fists as though his burning rage would turn the sand to glass. The fog grew stronger and thicker every second, squirming and clawing at his mind trying to drag it back into the blackness. But he refused to allow himself to lose. Harnessing his raging temper he seized hold of reality with an iron grip and refused to release it. The sand beneath him seemed to grow hotter even as his grasp grew more unyielding to the overriding power of the haze. Gradually, painfully, he began to reclaim control. The fog slowly lifted and gave up its fight, the sound of the waves resumed its gentle chant, and his temper began to return to its naturally simmering boil. And that, he thought, takes care of that. Now his mind was free to think and try to understand what was- Suddenly, it struck him. Something he had failed to truly notice until now. He had thought that the fog had been toying with his thoughts, but now he completely realized the horrible truth. He could remember nothing. There was no knowledge of where he was, or where he had been. No knowledge of what had brought him here or why. No knowledge of who he even was. A spark of panic and fear began to grow in his mind as he strained to grasp at a memory, any memory. But there was nothing there to grasp, only pieces of images and emotions that disappeared as soon as he uncovered them. Anger, guilt, energy pulsating around him and light fading into darkness. His panic grew greater as it fed on his frantic thoughts, only to be smothered out by a sudden wave of all-consuming fury. This isn’t possible! I refuse! he raged, wrenching his hands out of the sand and returning to his feet. I refuse, I have to remember something! The abrupt sound of cracking glass pulled him back to the beach. Beneath his feet, and extending several inches passed, a sheet of course glass lay where fine sand had been moments before. “Odd,” he muttered to himself, noticing that the sheet appeared to originate where his fists had been buried in the ground. With his temper slowly becoming replaced with curiosity, he noticed something else beyond the glass. A crimson red mask lay face up in the sand. Trying not to give the fog a chance to return, he stepped through the glass and picked up the mask. He looked down at its empty eyes as it returned his gaze. There was something about it that was familiar, nearly recognizable. Turning it over, he felt something inside him telling him to put it on. Instinct and memory, both intertwined together, urged him to wear the mask. Ignoring whatever bits of apprehension that lingered in his thoughts, he turned it over and put it on. Power rippled through his body as the mask touched his face. Weakness faded; replaced with strength he had never known he had. Any remainders of the fog were swept away in a flood of energy. Lifting up his hand, he could fell the energy rushing through him. Warmth seemed to ebb and flow through his fingertips. Focusing on the palm of his hand, he could feel the energy slowly move and cluster. I can control it, he thought to himself as the energy’s intensity continued to rise. Suddenly, without warning, a flame formed in his hand. Small curls of fire lased off his fingertips before drawing together to form a flaming plume that hung within the palm of his hand. Out of surprise, he quickly drew back his hand and took a step back. The instant he moved, the flame disappeared. For a moment, he simply looked at his hand trying to understand what had happened. Fire had just materialized out of thin air. And what was more, he appeared to be unharmed by the event. Not a burn or sign of damage anywhere on his hand. When he thought about it, it seemed as though he had not even felt the heat of the flame. He looked back down at the sheet of glass beside him as a thought began to form in his mind. Could it be possible? he thought. Concentrating again, he began to focus his energy together. Collecting even faster than before, another ball of fire leaped from his fingertips and formed in his hand. He could feel the warmth and power inside him flow towards the fire and then seem to dissipate, keeping the flame alive. He smiled proudly to himself as the fire continued to burn. He was making progress. As he continued to study the flame, its light glinted off another object lying in the sand, this time covered by the thin layer of glass. Carefully digging through the glass, he silently thanked no one in particular for the fact his body was made of metal. After several moments, he acquired his new-found prize. A long, slender, crimson sword fashioned into the shape of a towering flame. Something about it, like the mask, held a sense of familiarity, despite the fact that he had never seen the weapon before. Thrusting the blade into the air, his reflexes sent energy surging into the blade and sending a plume of fire into the air and scattering the birds that flew overhead. He followed their flight past the stony bluffs behind him as they slowly disappeared beyond his sight. Until now, he had failed to notice much of the scenery behind him. Rocky black cliffs surrounded the beach on every side and blocked any sight of what might exist beyond, excluding the immense volcano that rose above it. Sea birds could be heard from the forest trees beyond the bluffs and their calls reflected across the shore. Oddly enough, lodged into the cliff-side also sat a large stone carving of what appeared to be a face. Unimpressed, he simply grumbled in mild irritation and began to walk down the beach. Smoke slowly rose from beyond a small gorge that led out from the beach several bio ahead of him. While he was unsure of where he was going, he knew that this was not where he belonged. Taking one more glance at the canister behind him, a spark of doubt awoke in his mind. Could he hope for a future when he was not even aware of his past? For a moment it seemed as though a voice echoed the thoughts. A dark and ancient voice. Yet, even as fast as the thoughts had materialized, they vanished. With his fiery will returning, he adjusted the sword on his back and continued on his journey. True, he had no memory of the past, but that would not stop him. Because there was one thing that he did remember, a phrase that put an end to any of his doubts. He knew who he was. Tahu, Toa of Fire.

A question on Matoran forms
Loading... replied to Loading...'s topic in Bionicle Storyline & Theories
I supose to be more specific, do the Matoran outside of Metru-Nui also have a universal form that only slightly varies, and if they do, what does this other universal form look like? All Metru-Nui Matoran look exactly the same aside from their color and masks, so is that the case with all Matoran? -
Simply put, what do Matoran outside of Metru-Nui look like? Are Matoran bodies on other islands similar to the Metru-Nui Matoran's, or smaller versions of the Karda-Nui Matoran's/Mazeka's/Vultraz's, or do we have no idea what they look like?I've always thought that the Matoran in Metru-Nui had a unique body form that other Matoran didn't have for some reason, but what do you think?
