This time I modeled the Kanohi Calix - Mask of Fate - in its original, inorganic form. The mask that allows the wearer to perform at the peak of their physical abilities and pull off seemingly impossible feats of athleticism. This is my idea of what the mask looked like before becoming the mutated version Jaller Inika used. When designing it, I tried to preserve the most recognizable features of the official organic Calix while giving it the sleeker aethstetic of the other Kanohi. Perfectly suited for any Toa of Fire or Psionics. I intend to eventually create all six inika Kanohi in this way.
My custom Kanohi Calix is available here on Shapeways.
Here is the topic of my custom Kanohi Suletu in the same style and also on Shapeways.

I decided to remake and remix a couple of the official Bionicle themes into one with the help of a friend, and here are the results!
The Toa Return (Bionicle 2015 Theme) on Bandcamp, or Soundcloud (if you prefer).

Haha, looks like Lewa was really enjoying himself! This is really great. Good job constructing those backgrounds and animations, they looked professional. Also, fantastic use of Lewa11's Lewa music. You pulled off exactly what I had visualized when I first heard the song.

Eeeeeeep. O_O Baby Ussal!
That's some amazing photography there [ ] If you don't mind me asking, how did you manage to acquire the bend in Tahu's leg in the bohrok swarm poster? I'm intrigued by that especially... []
I took a photo of Tahu's right leg separately from the rest of his body, and then carefully cut it out in Photoshop. From there, I simply had to cut out the upper part of the leg and arrange it in the bent position.
These are amazing. How did you make that fantastic background in the bohrok awake photo?
The background there was a bit complex. I combined a bunch of photos in Photoshop to construct it. I first took a photo of a bohrok canister lid, and copied it multiple times to create a whole hive wall. Next, I overlaid a picture of some billowing smoke and applied the colors I wanted, making sure to add a blur to give an impression of depth to the picture. Then, I did some cutting and pasting to turn the stair Tahu was standing on into a cracked, rocky floor. To finish it off, I added some wispy transparent smoke on top to add to the atmosphere.
the images are spectacular, do you realize more images?
I plan to do more, and you can find all the pictures I have done at my gallery here: http://keyblade87.deviantart.com/gallery/
These flawlessly capture the old feel in beautiful 3D due to the use of the sets and your skill in positioning and editing everything. Unless your method for doing this is really, really time-consuming I would suggest you try remaking a comic in this style. That would be amazing.
Well, I did 'remake' a few comic panels previously, here. You might be interested in checking that out.
Were the Tohunga's arms done in the same way?I took a photo of Tahu's right leg separately from the rest of his body, and then carefully cut it out in Photoshop. From there, I simply had to cut out the upper part of the leg and arrange it in the bent position.
Some of them were done that way, such as the Ignalu Lava Surfing one. For some of the others, I used a colored wire twist-tie to hold the arms on in a more natural position.
Thank you everyone for the kind comments!

You can use the Color Replacement Tool to simply brush over what you want to recolor. You can also use Replace Color under Adjustments to recolor particular colored areas. For example, you could use Replace Color to change Tahnok's blue eyes to green eyes, but if there are any other blue colors in the picture, you'll have to make a selection to specify the eyes only.

Maybe in the future we can see Onepu with/on an Ussal crab?
...
Just to throw it out there, I think a picture of a Bohrok and Bohrok Va exchanging Krana would be pretty cool.
Hmm, that gives me some interesting ideas...
How'd you create Tahu's bent leg?

Wow, this is awesome. Using those planets aligned in the background was an inspired idea for 2016. I feel like the big protector and skull masks in the background look somewhat photo-realistic and clash very slightly with the rest of the painted-style. However, I do realize you were pressed for time. The end result is really quite beautiful.

This is amazing, you captured the style of the original comics exactly, right down to the cracks and line-scuffs. One thing I noticed was that the 4-point lens flares were not all aligned in the same direction. Nevertheless, it is really cool art you've done!

This is my poster for the Journey to Netflix contest. To "sum up what BIONICLE is about in a single image", I did the first thing that came to my mind: a legend of heroes carved into ancient ruins.

Fantastic scenes! The lighting is good and the ferns and plants all look like they could be Matoran-scale. I also like the colorful stone you used.
If you want a challenge, try making a Ta-Wahi scene!

Great idea! There's not much to say due to the simple design, other than it looks just like it did in the MNOLG!
The only suggestion I have is to perhaps make the large cylinder more hollow and the prongs thinner, just to reduce the material cost.
Also, have you tested the axle to see if it works with Bionicle pieces?

I like it.
I don't assume inorganic Sanok doodles would be helpful, would they?
I can't promise that I would use them, but I'd certainly be interested in seeing your take on it.

I modeled the Kanohi Suletu - Mask of Telepathy - in its original, inorganic form. The mask that allows the wearer to read the mind of another. This is my idea of what the mask looked like before becoming the mutated version Kongu Inika used. I tried to keep the design consistent with the design of the rest of the 'normal' Kanohi, but still instantly recognizable (which was pretty simple for this particular mask). Perfectly suited for any Toa of Air or Sonics. I intend to create all six inika Kanohi in this way.
My custom Kanohi Suletu is available on Shapeways.
Also, the lime & teal pieces on Kongu were photoshopped.

I imagine that the first meeting between Pohatu and Onua on Okoto would seem very familiar to those who remember the 2001 promotional Bionicle images. With the help of some editing, this is my rendition of that meeting:

These are pretty neat. If you ever decide to do more of these, are you going to include other Matoran, such as Takua?
Also, I'm pretty sure that Hahli was never sold in that form, so I'm guessing that you used parts from the one that came out in 2003, along with Macku (the only Ga-Matoran ever released in that first form).
Yes, to both!

The design definitely looks like what you might expect from a tribal mask. I like how the lines are simple, angular, and somewhere between alien and primitive in how they are pieced together, which fits the Bionicle aesthetic. Very cool.

I was inspired by the soundtrack in the recent Bionicle commercial to create my own rendition of the music:
Also, if you are interested, here is the image that I made for use in the thumbnail of the track:

These look excellent. If you don't mind me asking, did you use my method of articulating Kongu's head? If so, I'm happy that someone got use out of it.
Thanks. I used wire twist-ties again on Kongu's head, but I admit it wasn't very stable. I'll probably have to look into other methods in the future.

Thanks, everyone!
Is Jaller wearing the stars Tahu mask?
'Lewa the Soaring Champion' is correct, it's the yellow Hau from the 2001 Mcdonald's promotional set.

These photos are beautiful to look at and I like the use of filters, they don't stand out too much, but help complement the Tohunga (I call the Mctoran Tohunga.) How did you get their pieces to be posed the way you wanted without them falling off?
Thanks, I used wire twist ties to keep the limbs attached for the photos, and then I edited the pictures with photoshop to make the twist ties less obvious.

Yeah, these are pretty good. They're fairly crisp and clear. Of the six, my favorite is that of Hahli exploring Naho Bay.
With some of them, would you've happened to use a slight bit of filter alteration? I don't think it's a bad thing, I just can't tell if you did or not.
Thank you. I did decide to apply filters to a few, but I tried to keep it subtle.
I want to say these are amazing but everyone else beat me to it. So I shall call them outstanding instead! Simply incredible photos and the great editing makes for truly iconic shots. I'd love to see you do some more shots like this, maybe recreate some comic book covers?!
Thanks! That's a good idea, I might just try doing that.

While taking photos of various Bionicle things, I thought it would be cool to try to take some iconic pictures of Matoran on Mata Nui. After some cleaning up and editing, here are the results:
Wind-sprint through Le-Wahi
Hunting in the Drifts
Inventing the Boxor
Koli Practice
Exploring Naho Bay
Patrol in the Charred Forest
