  1.

Superb work on both masks! They both look very well made, as usual.

I've seen others having issues with their 3D-printed plus rods not being quite right. What were the measurements that you came up with for the rod?

The exact measurements I used was 4.7mm "diameter" and for the extensions from the plus, they start at 1.97mm and taper to about 1.36mm. This website is helpful: http://www.robertcailliau.eu/Lego/Dimensions/zMeasurements-en.xhtml I also used a digital measuring caliper accurate to a hundredth of a millimeter on several plus rods and took the averages for my final measurements. If anyone is interested, I'm willing to make the .obj file of the rod available as I know how annoying it is to get that right! XD

Ok, thanks! Sounds like you have it really fine-tuned. I'll have to bookmark that website, too.

I am certainly interested in the .obj file. I'm sure it would be a great help.

  2. I love this! Are you gonna do the others?

Kopaka is the only 2015 set I currently own, but I have some other photo ideas lined up for when I get around to buying the other Toa.

What are we talking about here? I mean you have a nice comic strip of Kopaka-koto popping out of the snow like a daisy. But is that your interpretation of what happened this gen, or last gen?

P.S. Love this by the way. I have not seen snow for over 15 years. Great use of your natural environment to create this strip...

This is my interpretation of the Gen. 2 arrival of Kopaka.

  3. It's been a long time since I got to catch up with the Mata Nui Matoran. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Your team certainly seems to understand what made the original MNOG so charming. I really appreciate the attention to detail: All the lore seems spot-on, the village layout from MNOGII is still there, the matoran eyebrows shift when looking around, even the gears move with their bodies.

I did manage to use the spikes near the outer wall to escape into the sea. I had a nice run around the dunes. :)

I guess invisible walls will come later.

Great work so far, I can't wait to see what else you have in store!

  4. Awesome - how did you make this?

To make this, I took 3 photos. One with the Toa, one with the Mctoran, and one with a blank wall. I then combined and adjusted them in Photoshop. I used the image of the blank wall to cover up the toa-shadow, then placed the mctoran-shadow on top of that. I did need to get a different light for the Mctoran to ensure the shadow was detailed enough.

  5. Photoshop, I presume?

Yes, I did this with Photoshop.

My only suggestion would be to darken or accentuate the shadow on the ground.

Good suggestion; I see what you mean.

    Thanks for the feedback!

  6. I like the idea that Kapura simply knows something we don't.

When he is practicing in Ta-Wahi, he says he can "feel" other places.

"If I practice, I can be where I am not. I think I can feel it. It is hot here where I am, but where I am not is cold, and I think I can feel it.  I must practice more."

He later shows up in Ko-Koro, which is "cold". This makes it sound like more than just simple teleportation to me.  I think that with the help of Vakama's previous research and long, tedious meditation and 'practicing', perhaps Kapura has learned how to compress spacetime around himself. Perhaps he used his natural energies to somehow manipulate and cause small wrinkles in spacetime so that Ko-Koro was closer, almost putting himself in two places at once. In travelling to Ko-Koro this way, he would still be moving as slowly as ever, yet to outside observers it would appear that he has sped towards his destination even faster than the eye can see.  Matoran have innate elemental energies, so it seems feasible that after thousands of years, someone could have learned to manipulate their energies to develop unusual abilities.

Thinking about this more, it would seem that Takua, who was right next to Kapura while he was 'feeling' Ko-Koro, would have felt it if Kapura was compressing spacetime nearby.  So perhaps rather than distort spacetime around himself, maybe Kapura is able to stretch himself across spacetime. He would still be moving impossibly quickly by moving very slowly, and only he would be aware of the distortion, leaving bystanders to watch him simply disappear.

  7. This looks really good as the mask of creation!  All in all, I love how there's all these intricate symbols and things going on in the mask, but one thing that bothers me is the swirly parts on the brow and the chin.  All kanohi stick to variations of fairly basic geometric shapes in their design.  The swirly design seem a bit too "human" and organic to fit in with the rest of the MU, in my opinion.  Perhaps substitute them with complex patterns of circles?

Anyway, everything else works for me.  The top crest is definitely a highlight, I think.  Looks like a powerful mask for a big guy. Great work!

  8. BQOTT wasn't really an organization, it was the personal project of one guy, Lewa11. I am pretty sure that he was responsible for all the music and animation we've seen. He has a BZP account, but after a several project updates he disappeared again, and as far as I know no one has had contact with or heard from him in nearly 3 years.

  9. I like this. The art is reminiscent of the MNOLG, but with a consistent hand-drawn quality that works well. I'm glad you took the time to put in plenty of animations. They are simple, but done well. Not too hard and not too simple; it was a fun way to spend a few minutes. It might be nice to have something to listen to while you play it, though. Anyway, I didn't run into any bugs, it seems simple, but very polished, and great work!

  10. This is great! The animation looks spot on, right down the the blinking.

To me, it seems like that clicking sound is just a bit of static at the end of each whirring sound, so you can cut off the very end of the sound clip and that should fix the problem. Also as you may or may not know, you can easily control the frame rate in the properties panel of flash. I wish someone would do for Templar's animations, too.

I look forward to seeing what else you make!
