  1. IC: Mitsuri (Shinku) - Oki Village There's a flicker in the sky, a spark being thrown, then a blaze, accompanied by a piercing cry as a maroon bird plummets toward the group. Before they ready to defend, the Sakl spreads its magnificent wings and golden plumage, slowing its flight far above before wheeling in for a landing a stone's throw away. The bird regards the four, tentatively hopping closer; one claw gripping the remains of some poor rodent. A strange arrival, and stranger still behavior. And then, seemingly from the bird, a single word is projected to the mental plane. .:Help...:. OOC: Did someone call for a Vilda? @Lady Takanuva @Keeper of Kraata @ARROW404 @The UltimoScorp
  2. IC: Azusai - Ga-Koro Docks Azusai is awoken by the harsh crash of stone on wood as her bed jolts and all but flings her out of it to the wooden floor. She blinks blearily, rubbing the sleep and tears of the day before from her Mask of Rebounding. It's only when she realizes that she's kneeling in a growing puddle of water that everything clicks into place. Her bed, her home, her family... all gone. She... she was here, on a sinking fishing boat, staring out at some unfamiliar tropical beach. Struggling once again to keep the tears at bay before she drowned in them, Azusai adjusted her salt-encrusted Hasten, checked her bag for her navigation tools and telescope, the last things she had left of home, grabbed the staff and hatchet that had seen her through that night, and dove over the side of the boat, frantically paddling to stay atop the waves as they pushed her toward shore. She crawled up the sandy beach, dripping wet, and finally rested on solid ground again. She lay there numbly staring at the fishing boat that had saved her life until it was totally consumed by the ocean, and then kept staring at where it vanished as tears rolled freely down her face again. Her stomach grumbled. She ignored it. She ignored it until the gnawing emptiness rivalled that of her heartlight, and it was then that she decided: She would not die here. She was a proud Taajar, and she had not come all this way to die on an unknown shore. Propping herself up on shaky legs and her staff, she set off down the beach, hoping to find those ships she had followed all this way. Her family had always taught her the other Dasaka were not to be trusted, but did she really have a choice? ----------- What she found was... very different than she had even dreamed. No village of wood, or even city of crystal, but one built of plants adrift on the water. She could see beings of all sizes, all colors, rushing back and forth like a flock of Janu birds. She realized she had stopped to stare, jaw dropped in disbelief, and tried to urge herself toward these strange creatures, carefully setting foot on a green path that gently rocked with the waves. She followed it, eyes caught by every new sight along the way, and then her nose caught the delicious smell of cooking fish and she let it lead her to a hut on the outskirts full of boisterous sailors. She thought she saw other Dashi, but they were strange, lacking the crystal armor she was accustomed to. The bartender looked her up and down and sneered as she approached meekly. "Can I get something to eat?" she asked softly in the common tongue, voice almost drowned out in the noise. "You got widgets?" he responded gruffly. "I... n-no? What are..." "What do I look like, a charity? This is the finest pub this side of Ga-Koro. You don't got widgets, you don't eat, Kuma." Azusai recoiled as if struck. She... wasn't anywhere like home. But under the glaring eye of the bartender, she slunk back to the door, only to pause on seeing a note mounted just inside. She snatched the page and stepped outside. In a moment, she had found the twin suns and quickly oriented herself almost by instinct, wandering toward the southern ends of the docks. She had to admit, it wasn't much to go on, but she needed some of these "widgets" from somewhere, and if she had been able to sail her way to "Ga-Koro," maybe she could be useful on this Ironclad Fowadi. OOC: Azusai just kinda wandering Ga-Koro if anyone wants to catch her.
  3. Name: Azusai Gender: Female Species: Dashi Caste and Clan: Taajar Ringti Powers: None Description: Azusai's body is a soft azure color with some slight brassy accents. She's usually bundled up in a traditional brownish Hanten, a sort of kimono of thick cloth worn in colder climes. A powerless Mask of Rebounding protrudes from her collar, her amber eyes wide behind it. She wields a beautifully hewn but scarred bo staff and a crystal hatchet for defense. By her side is a rough bag where she keeps her prized possessions she was able to leave home with, chief among them being her telescope and navigation tools. Personality: Azusai was never the most outgoing sort, but she got along well enough when she knew everyone around her by name. Suddenly finding herself plucked up by the roots has done little for her quiet disposition, and she struggles to make herself heard. Her family has a long history of stargazing, what was initially a passive interest becoming a marketable skill in navigation and lens crafting. Azusai can always find her way back home with the sky to guide her, even in this strange land. It is with the starry sky that she feels connected to those she has lost, and she can almost imagine the twinkling of the stars is the beats of their heartlights as they watch over her. Biography: Azusai was born into a Taajar village organized by merchants and craftspeople escaping the politics and poor treatment of major Dasaka civilization. They lived a simple life, producing everything they needed and rarely coming into contact with the clans. However, their isolation proved to be their downfall when metallic hissing creatures with strange powers swarmed the Archipelago. Her home was razed to the ground, most of the people she knew killed, and the few survivors scattered to the winds, and Azusai barely escaped with her life by fleeing to a fishing boat. For once, the stars held no comfort for her, only guiding her back to and reminding her of the fires of her home. She drifted around the archipelago for hours or days until finally catching sight of a glorious fleet setting out into the unknown. Figuring they had safety in mind, she turned her course to follow, but she was no sailor. At times the wind and waves would buffet her aside, and she would lose sight of that lone trace of familiarity in an uncaring ocean. And it was at those times that she would turn to Her Crimson Light as her mother taught her, the Star that wandered through the heavens and could see exactly how to reach your destination, if you knew how to heed Her. And through Her guidance, Azusai found her way to this new land. Weaknesses: Being a Dashi, Azusai has little in the way of offensive or defensive capabilities and relies heavily on those around her to keep her safe. Her isolated upbringing has made even modern Dasaka culture, let alone Mata Nui culture, completely foreign and strange to her, and she's still struggling to wrap her head around how her life has changed so quickly. She tends to be a little overly trusting, being used to the idea that everyone around her knows better and wants the best for her. Name: Mitsuri Gender: Female Species: Dasaka Caste and Clan: Vilda Menti Powers: Mitsuri wears a Kanohi Calix, allowing her to perform physical feats that others might think impossible, though it is clear she is unpracticed with it. Willhammer training has given Mitsuri the ability to see and enter into the minds of others, as well as project her thoughts to them. She is incredibly practiced with sharing senses with her Sakl bird, Shinku, seeing her almost as an extension of her being. Description: Mitsuri is tall, shapely, and like many Vilda, gorgeous. Her emerald armor swirls elegantly around her willowy limbs, intertwined with golden ribbons and punctuated by frills of pale crystal. However, the Rahkshi attack has left her horrifically scarred across her head and shoulders, pulling her face into a permanent snarl which can be seen through her incongruously translucent deep blue Calix and closing one of her lavender eyes. She wields a pair of beautifully curved crystalline bladed tonfa. Her Sakl bird, Shinku, is a shimmering maroon color with golden plumage that could easily be mistaken for flickering flames when it catches the light. Her beak is solid bluish crystal and eerily translucent to anyone who gets a close look. Shinku is never found far from Mitsuri, and the two have quite a bond through their training together. Personality: Mitsuri is deeply passionate and determined, believing any problem has a solution she can find with enough willpower. It was with this attitude that she fought for the near-extinct wilds of the Kentoku Archipelago, never allowing red tape to keep her down for long. Her brazenness has caused problems for her in the past with the other clans and it is only through the efforts of other Vilda that she was able to avoid severe punishments. However, watching the Rahkshi devastate her home after everything she had done to preserve it has left her feeling lost, to say nothing of the physical scarring she received from the attack. Biography: Beginning her training as a Menti, Mitsuri quickly made a name for herself as a determined scholar, absorbing Willhammer knowledge and attempting to breach into other disciplines in her voracious studies. She was thought by some to be on the path to becoming a great warrior, but over time it became clear that the Vilda teachings had an even stronger root in her mind and she carried little respect for the Empire, seeing them as the reason the natural world had been thrown into imbalance and more of a hinderance than a help to her studies. She was outspoken and unwilling to listen to authority, and as such constrained to her initial Willhammer discipline and kept under careful watch. It was as she was completing her studies that she met the Fursic Sighteye Heiya, one who shared her disdain and determination, but had learned more subtle ways to exercise it. Heiya tempered the hot fire that was Mitsuri, and in return, Mitsuri imparted her love of flora and fauna to Heiya. The two became close, inseparable, as they completed their studies and moved on separate paths, but still found themselves living together. And they were together still when the Rahkshi attacked Oki. Mitsuri could only watch as Heiya was felled, and then a split second later, blazing pain of shards of her Hau digging into her face pushed her into unconsciousness. Weaknesses: Mitsuri is prone to an act first, think later mentality, and is quick to assume the worst in others, especially when the Empire is concerned. She tends to meet most problems head on, relying in her strength and her Hau to fortify her, but with her Hau gone, she has yet to make sense of the Calix's very different powerset. Most of her practice in her Willhammer discipline has come through speaking with animals, she has little practice entering stronger minds or making convincing arguments to sentient beings.
  4. Memes aside, while I think Fight Club worked well for a small group looking to blow off some steam, I don't think there's enough there as it stands for a full fledged TBRPG. It would work well as a place for newer members to try out ideas and learn the ropes of the forum, but I just don't think we're getting enough new members to warrant that. Instead, most of your player base will be experienced RPers who have probably created characters and fought with them before. So what does this game bring to them? I think the first thing you should consider is more of a story. How and why are people being brought to this pocket dimension? What is motivating them to stay and fight their fellow competitors IC in the arena? What is stopping them from fighting outside it? Is there some greater force or overseer behind all of this, and what do they want? Answering these questions will go a long way toward making this concept engaging. And while unbridled character creation certainly sounds appealing, I think people tend to be more creative when restrictions are placed on them. Having some kind of system in place to balance the power level, give characters strengths and weaknesses, might drive a lot more interesting concepts.
  5. IC: Kaenis - Arena @Ironfist@That Matoran with a Vahi Kaenis just sat there in silence again, tapping her claws more anxiously than before. IC: Arkis - Office (Cliffside) @Nato the Traveler Arkis drew his dart gun from his pocket, pointing it shakily toward Catina. "P-please..." he said simply.
  6. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Nato the Traveler @Ironfist Arkis turned back to the others after absently putting away his equipment, only to drop the scalpel he was holding on seeing the launcher. "Um... we don't... w-well, permit violence... in here..." he stammered nervously, reaching for his pocket for his dart gun.
  7. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Ironfist "Ahh..." Arkis nodded to himself as he understood the gesture this time. "Yes." He finished one last knot on the bandages and stepped back. "And with that, you're... you're free to go." He gave a nervous glance to the deformed Agori as if to say, I hope you won't say anything about him. IC: Kaenis - Arena On scrutiny, she fell silent again, looking down at her (twisted) claws, her (disgusting) tail and spinner shifting uncomfortably. She just didn't want anyone else to suffer this fate...
  8. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) "Piiiiiiiiiiiiiiiie..." she groaned. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Ironfist Arkis looked up, doing a double take as he stopped humming. "Um... yes," he muttered, clearly grasping the gesture had meaning but not what it was. IC: Eoron - New Atero (Tower) @ZippyWharrgarbl "No ma'am," Eoron snapped back politely, his concern over appearing too hasty hidden beneath a well-practiced mask. "In fact, if there is anything this lieutenant could assist you with, I would be happy to oblige." IC: Kaenis - Arena Kaenis had been lost in some self-deprecating train of thought when she overheard "Bota Magna." She looked up at the two, her green eyes burning with anxiety. "You can't go there," she stated quietly, but intensely.
  9. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) "Tillyyyyyyy..." Garuda whined. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Ironfist Arkis nodded and settled into the comfortable, familiar work of stitching up a Glatorian body. He even hummed to himself as he all but forgot about the actual person attached to those hands, or the precarious situation the three of them had found themselves in. But after some time, the job was done, and Arkis stood to find the ointments and bandages for the rest, still humming to himself. IC: Eoron - New Atero (Tower) Seems the eccentric Doctor was out today, and Eoron breathed a silent sigh of relief. Something about that strange being set him on edge. But that would also mean he'd have to search the tower himself. As he strolled through the tower trying not to look too busy, he passed a charismatic Skrall general and offered her a salute. OOC: Up to you now @ZippyWharrgarbl
  10. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) @Dane-gerous @ZippyWharrgarbl "Tilly!" Garuda whined. "Can I please have some pie?" IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Nato the Traveler @Ironfist Arkis froze, preparing himself for the accusations against the Iron Tribe, before realizing the creature meant another organic Glatorian. "...yes, well... there are... many like me on this planet..." he responded casually as he shooed Catina's hand away from the bandages, "Er, at least... before the Matoran arrived." His mechanical hands and a scalpel made quick work of the hastily applied bandages, saving what they could of the wounds. The hands themselves were rubbed raw and scored by deep cuts. It looked as if this Glatorian had been dragged through a gravel pit, but Arkis knew better than to ask. His lot was merely to repair, and he'd start by stitching up the worst of the cuts. He held up a needle and thread, indicating his intentions. "This might be... uncomfortable, but necessary." IC: Eoron - New Atero (City Center) He arrived at the city center moments later, telling himself he'd just take a quick look inside to see if anyone had delivered anything from Fe. And that meant... he must contend with the bizarre gatekeeper. He stepped inside...
  11. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) @Dane-gerous @ZippyWharrgarbl Garuda just shook her head, still staring with wide eyes at Tilly, then the pie. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) @Ironfist Arkis glanced at the Glatorian's hands, then looked back at the abomination behind him, standing in plain view. Perhaps... he could just get Karzahni out the door and on its way as promised, then get to work. After all, the oddly colored armor on this sad Glatorian could only mean one thing: he was one of Arkis' kin. The Iron Tribe. He sighed. "Come on in." IC: Eoron - New Atero (Parking District) This was taking too long. Someone was going to notice he was missing, and then what? He couldn't wait by this ship for someone who may or may not have visited Fe any longer. Perhaps they were a reasonable and law abiding citizen... or at worst, a bounty hunter on a claim, and reported any findings to the authorities in the center of the city. On one last hunch, he set off in that direction, leaving the ramshackle ship behind.
  12. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) Garuda shrugged nonchalantly. Evidently she was feeling better about it. <Nothing to do... but eat pie!> She scampers over to Tilly and hangs at the edge of the table, watching her. OOC: @Dane@ZippyWharrgarbl IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) With that sudden departure, Arkis just lays on the ground, starting to feel his bumps and bruises where he had been tossed around by the strange creature. He groans, and his head lolls back... only to see the one he had tried to protect standing out in the open. "What do you think you're..." He's cut off by the sound of footsteps on the rickety stairs outside. His head pops up, and he winces, then again as he notices a grey Glatorian in the doorway. "...we're closed," he mutters, knowing it's probably fruitless. IC: Kaenis - The Arena She slowly steps off the pedestal and sits against a pillar, not really listening or caring for Bacchus' deductions.
  13. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) <Good! Tilly bring food for scared me,> Garuda responded eagerly, and giggled. <But hungry first. You see attack today?> OOC: @Dane
  14. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) Arkis' lighter, weaker frame is easily tossed aside, rolling back into another cart. "What? I don't... understand! But you need to leave... now!" IC: Kaenis - The Arena Kaenis watched as the lights glowed green, green, then red. Another failure. As far as she was concerned, it was her fault. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) Garuda perked up and noticed her friend coming in. "Voyin!" she cried as she ran over to give the Glatorian a hug.
  15. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) "Um... I got... hungry," she says quietly, her claw slowly creeping out of the box with another handful of cereal. IC: Kaenis - The Arena Kaenis sighed and took her indicated place on the dais. She warily watched the stone below her for any change. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) Arkis cries out as he's shoved backward with surprising force, sending him staggering into a cart of tools. All but disregarding the pain in his frenzy, he pushes back off and tries to tackle Rakpazis before it sees his guest.
  16. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) "I'm... sorry?" His eyes flash to the creature's shoulder blocking the door and gives another little shove to try to close it. "Whatever it is you're... uh, looking for, well, look elsewhere! We're... um, closed!" IC: Kaenis - The Arena Kaenis' eyes followed his finger down to the bandanna, and her hand slowly reached up to feel it. Something about it seemed to calm her, and something like a hesitant smile came to her face. She nodded and followed after. IC: Garuda - Tesara (Home) Garuda froze as the door opened, one claw clutching several blankets draped around her, the other halfway into a box of cereal, just one of many food items now scattered around the kitchen as Garuda decided what to snack on. "...Tilly? Is that you?"
  17. IC: Morah - Barraki Fortress Morah flashed Carapar a toothy grin beneath her respirator. Taking on the City of Legends... now you're talking! She was ready to take on the whole island of those smug little Matoran... A flash of pain while she stretched reminded her that she wasn't quite ready. Quick hop to the Infirmary it is. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru Karista flexed her arm, trying to buy time to remember what she's supposed to say before Paju cut herself off. She stiffened, and looked down. "No... very far..." she said, almost wistfully. @Smudge8
  18. OOC: I seem to have missed a post... whoops. IC: Morah - Barraki Fortress The ride back had been uneventful. Too uneventful. Aside from swapping some yarns with her new pal Varxii (when the Toa wasn't sawing logs), there was nothing like freak storms or spirit dragons or zombie invasions. Morah was already itching for some more battle before the recounting to their lord had completed. At least back home there was always something to do, none of this... bureaucracy business. Morah was about to nudge Varxii to see if she felt the same, but the Toa seemed pretty out of it. Best let her rest, the poor gal. So... Morah just stood there, hoping Carapar had some better news for them. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru "I am called... Karista," she paused, watching the bandages nervously. "Karista... Toa?" Was it usual for these beings to talk so much? Between the pain and her own nebulous grasp of the language, Karista was hardly picking out anything. But it was soothing, in a way. Karista tried to relax and let Paju do... whatever she was doing.
  19. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru Karista flinched, still wary of the dragon. Her hand curled into a fist... and then the small one stepped in. "Yes..." she stammered, unused to this much... respect. Or maybe even the kindness, since she left home. "I... I will be... fine. Just a bit of... fun, yeah." She tried to push herself up, eyeing the dragon, as Paju looked for medicine, but found it difficult with one arm. She could shift into something with more, but she was already pushing her luck with this... @Smudge8
  20. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru The Kewa hopped back a step. She's going to find out, she's going to tell everyone... But at this point... did it even matter? From the looks of the sky, the universe was ending. She wouldn't have to hide for much longer. And if this little one and her dragon did find out, she'd rather be in a form that could fight back. Karista took a deep breath, and then the Kewa in front of Paju shifted and grew. It staggered backward, trying to give itself room to run, only to trip and fall. Karista barely remembered to catch herself with her good arm as she lay there, a Ga-Toa once again. She gave a sheepish grin as she pulled her injured arm close to herself, already wondering if she made a big mistake. @Smudge8 IC: Morah - The Ripple Morah helped the Toa to one of them chairs in the cargo hold and dropped down next to her. "Can't say I know much 'bout it. Only powers I've ever needed are these fellas." She quickly showed off her claws, grinning beneath her respirator.
  21. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru As she noticed the Phase Dragon right behind her, taunting her, daring her to try running again, Karista just stopped, quivering just in front of Ellie's claws. This was the end for her, she knew. And then, up above, the sky began its dance once more, and Karista could only watch as the stars and moons and suns neglected their natural order to race across the sky, finally freezing in the twin eclipses. Maybe it wasn't just the end for her, but the end of everything.
  22. IC: Arkis - Cliffside (Office) The door swings open a ways before Arkis scrambles to catch it. Behind Arkis, the room seems to be little more than a crude operating room, an empty table with sheets stained in viscera of several colors, tables of haphazard instruments within easy reach, and a desk in the back corner. Nothing... well, too bizarre. Yet Arkis' frantic attempts at casually shutting the door with muttered, "Everything's fine... ugh... nothing's here!... oof..." could hint at something unseen. IC: Kaenis - The Arena Kaenis flinched again, silently cursing herself for not running faster to her ship. What else was this stupid body even good for? "You... should be," Kaenis muttered, her inner turmoil bringing a slight growl to her voice. "You don't know anything about me or Hordika..." Not the worst thing... we'll see...
  23. IC: Morah - The Ripple Morah didn't know much about shock, but this sure looked it. Ironic, being a lightning Toa and all. Trouble is, she wasn't sure what to do about it. She tried a toothy grin (probably for the best it was hidden beneath her mask) and gave Varxii a nudge. "C'mon, le's get ya up. No use lyin' 'round on the floor when there's nice seats on this ship. No spiders there neither." IC: Karista - Ga-Metru It just so happened that Karista was gliding by a screen when it burst on with the enormous image of a Vahki. It didn't matter what it said or what followed, with her nerves already on edge Karista nearly dropped out of the sky right there. Instead she flapped backward hard and caught a wing on the building opposite, sending her into a slow but inevitable spiral toward the ground. She looked over her shoulder for the dragon, confident it wouldn't be long before it caught her now, but still determined to hop along as best as a Kewa could manage.
  24. IC: Karista - Ga-Metru Karista was up in the air again, swooping beneath the Phase Dragon and up the street. This thing couldn't chase after her forever... could it?
  25. IC: Morah - The Ripple Just as Morah was getting back into it, her Vo-Toa pal all but screamed a warning. Morah did as any sensible person who knew the fury of a Toa would do and got her head down. The furious strands of lightning cracked a hair above her, making her exposed spines stand on end and arc sympathetically. It was done just as quick as it began, nothing left but the smell of overcooked barbecue in the air. Morah hesitantly righted herself and looked to the Toa, who looked about ready to turn in. She slipped up to Varxii's side and offered a shoulder to lean on. "Ah'll tell ya un' thing, ya made quick work of them spiders," she drawled. "Didn't much care ta be on the receivin' end of them spinners 'gain." @Darth Jaller
