  1. Have you ever wanted to lead the bohrok swarms against the vahki hordes? Perhaps you would like to see Garan and Tanma recruited into the Chronicler's Company? Perhaps you'd like to lead a coalition of Toa, or Turaga, or Piraka, or a smattering of everything? Well I have the game for you! Conflux is a dice-based combat system that uses a grid to track character location and movement. In a lot of ways it feels like D&D, albeit with different mechanics. Characters usually attack and defend using some number of dice and take damage equal to the difference if the attacker rolls higher. There is, of course, a fair amount to the game beyond that, which is covered in the attached rules docs. The game was originally designed as a face-to-face strategy game, but with recent events, I have decided to make the jump to playing online over discord. Consider this a recruitment pitch! If you would like to join me sometime, here's the discord link: https://discord.gg/vJcs3DB If anyone uses the system on their own, please let me know how it goes! My collection is by no means comprehensive, so not everything in the game is well-tested. For similar reasons, not everything in the BIONICLE canon has been statted out. If you have any ideas to contribute for that, then feel free to post them here! Here's the current rules draft: https://www.dropbox.com/s/iiloxlnbgvcsv3l/How to Play.docx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/no3qwj72ye48mjm/2001-2003 5.3.docx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/8dh00nbs28tfo6j/2004-2005 5.3.docx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/z4aifnfgxo98od8/2006-2008 5.3.docx?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/bg36d867o77t5bb/2009-2010 5.3.docx?dl=0 2009-2010 5.3.docx How to Play.docx 2006-2008 5.3.docx 2004-2005 5.3.docx 2001-2003 5.3.docx
  2. Great Beings were ruling their people peacefully for thousands of years. But as population was growing, they were unable to control everything. Last straw was chaos created by plague, which struck Spherus Magna. They decided to create eight powerful Element Lords, each ruling their assigned tribe. Soon after creation of Element Lords, Energized Protodermis started escaping planet’s core, due to building of Giant Robot, later known as Mata Nui. In hunger for power, Element Lords started wars between tribes to get each other’s Protodermis. As so began the long and cruel Core War. Become one of eight Element Lords in ongoing Core War. Train your troops and conquer adjacent lands to get Energized Protodermis. Think strategically and create alliances with other tribes to become more powerful. Beware the Skrall, dangerous species, which may strike suddenly without warning. Claim whole area of Spherus Magna before the Shattering happens! Setup On the very beginning of the game, you take role of random Element Lord (Fire, Water, Ice, Sand, Earth, Jungle, Rock or Iron) and are assigned to your corresponding Tribe. Your place on Spherus Magna is chosen randomly. There are 9 positions, aligned to 3x3 grid with Skrall area in center. Three positions have advantages. South-west (bottom-left) area can’t be attacked until it lost its immunity by attacking other tribe. This immunity falls automatically at start of round 10. East (center-right) area has permanent defense bonus +1. At start you get 2 defense units, increasing defense by +2. When Skrall (center) area is controlled by player, it receives permanent attack bonus +1. Round Game is turn-based and divided into rounds with each player having one turn. In odd rounds (1st, 3rd...), order of player’s is generated randomly and in following rounds, order is reversed. Each round, player chooses between three different actions: training troops, increasing your attack value by +1, training defense units, increasing your defense by +1 and attacking adjacent tribe. You perform one action for each area you have. Additionaly you can use your Glatorian or Legend (not both in one turn). Using them don’t counts as action (you can for example use Glatorian and train troops in the same turn) and most of effects are applied before action. Game definitely ends at the end of round 30 by the Shattering (if the game will be running smoothly, I can extend it). Player with highest amount of tribes conquered wins. Game can have 2 or more winners in case of draw. Taking over all 9 areas also makes you win. Attacking If all other conditions are met, you can attack ever since round 6. When you choose to attack, all of your troops are sent to attack chosen tribe. You can’t choose to send only part of your troops (This is also where defense units get useful). Each tribe’s troops work independently, even if they are owned by same player. I tried to make attack as simple as possible, but it is still too complicated. I have made a calculator (it works 99.9% right) to ease the things. You don’t really have to read attack mechanics below, but that’s up to you. Skrall Skrall perform one action on end of each round, starting by round 6. They can’t be attacked, but can attack. Their attack is performed in same way player attack is performed, but if they win, they left area without single defense unit or troop, making it vulnerable to other tribes. Their attack is controlled by me (or random.org). I randomly generate number between 1 and 12. There is 1 in 12 chance for each tribe to be attacked by them, and 1 in 12 chance for each +1, +2 and +3 attack boost for next round. Basic attack is 4 and permanently increases every 5 rounds with first increase in round 10 (r9 = 4, r10 = 5, r15 = 6). Their current attack will be always announced on start of each round. Whoever is first to have three tribes will automatically claim Skrall area, making it work as normal area (with +1 attack bonus). It can attack every area on Spherus Magna (including corners), but also can be attacked by every area (including corners). That makes it strategically important and vulnerable at the same time. Glatorian Glatorian and Legends gives each tribe special ability. Glatorian’s ability can be used more times (each have different cooldown) and is bound to area, so you can use different abilities for each of your owned areas. Legends can be used only one time and their effect applies for all your owned areas. If you conquer new area, you cannot use it’s Legend, even if it wasn’t used by previous owner. Fire Tribe Legend: Ackar - Increase your attack power by +2 for next turn (all areas) Glatorian: Perditus - Train 1 troop unit immediately (once per 4 rounds) Water Tribe Legend: Tarix - Increase your defense power by +1 for next 3 rounds (up to 4 chosen tribes) Glatorian: Kiina - You can’t attack and can’t be attacked in next round (once per 5 rounds) Ice Tribe Legend: Strakk - You can’t be attacked in this and next round. You also can’t attack this round (all tribes) Glatorian: Gelu - Choose one adjacent tribe. It can’t perform any actions, but Glatorian and Legends (once per 5 rounds) Sand Tribe Legend: Malum - All enemies have defense power decreased by -1 for next 2 rounds (all other tribes) Glatorian: Vorox - Increase attack by +1 for next 2 rounds (once per 7 rounds) Earth Tribe Legend: Nuhviix - Control one adjacent area’s actions in next round, making it able to attack even on it’s own tribe’s area. Everything goes as in regular attack. Glatorian: Ontaru - Disable (NPC or player controlled) Skrall area for it’s next turn (once per 5 rounds) Rock Tribe Legend: Stronius - Increase your attack power by +1 permanently. Can’t be used until round 15. (all owned areas) Glatorian: Branar - Destroy 2 defense units of chosen adjacent area. (once per 6 rounds) Jungle Tribe Legend: Vastus - Increase your defense power by +3 for next turn (all areas) Glatorian: Gresh - You can attack any area adjacent to your adjacent areas (excluding Skrall area) (once per 8 rounds) Iron Tribe Legend: Telluris - Choose one tribe to have -1 defense for 3 rounds. Can’t be used until round 12. (all areas of one tribe) Glatorian: Skorpoku - Train 2 defense units immediately (once per 7 rounds) Rules 1. All BZPower rules applies. That’s an obvious one. 2. Post your actions (including Glatorian and Legends activation) here, not in PM. 3. In order to speed things up, do not wait for your turn, but instead post as soon as possible (if it is not necessary for your strategy to know what other person will do). All turns will be performed when everybody does their turn. 4. Limit for each round is 24 hours. It might be extended on special occasions. (It is an upper limit, 6-hours round would be great!) 5. If you don’t respond in 24 hours limit for first time in row, you will automatically train troops. Second time is idle (no action). 6. If it happens 3 times in row, all your areas will be deserted with 2 defense units and 0 attack units, leaving them vulnerable to your neighbors. You can’t ever come back then. Your areas are also deserted if you miss 6 turns totally. There might be very special exempts, but don’t rely on them. Feedback Before game starts, I don’t have problem with any suggestions. It took me a while to write this down, but I would like to hear, if something can be better. Same goes for questions. If you misunderstood something, ask me. Remember that stupid questions are better than stupid playing. Or something like that. Lovely picture on top was made by me with Inkscape and GIMP. Well, as you may have guessed, it's a sequel to the first one I made a few years ago (link to it provided below for nostalgia's sake) but as well as that, it's a theme park building game set in the old Bionicle universe, so out of the canon that it wouldn't be too out of place to put some of the 2015 Bionicle stuff in it as well. :PYou start out with a set amount of widgets and get building, either in sandbox mode where you start out with 100,000 widgets and go crazy or in one of the scenarios where you usually start out with less money and have goals to complete in a set period of time. Currently the scenarios aren't up yet, but all the sandbox maps are in the demo below. What is currently available in the most recent demo? Like I said, all the sandbox maps are available. The first tutorial's base map is up, but it doesn't work as a tutorial yet, lol. Also the Zakaz Zooms and Super Shadows scenarios are available too, but again, they're just to show off the map, so they don't work as scenarios yet either. But Super Shadows is still fun, I think! As for the other stuff... CURRENTLY AVAILABLE RIDES: - Teri-Go-Round - Krana Koaster - Rocking Rockoh - Piraka Party - Ussal Karts - U.D.D. - Gukko Ride - Roller Rahkshi - Karzahni - Visorak Web CURRENTLY AVAILABLE SIDESHOWS None (however, there is a Shoot the Mighty Tuma one seen in the first tutorial just to give you a preview, lol) CURRENTLY AVAILABLE SHOPS: - Mukau Burgers - Bula Batches - Liquid Proto CURRENTLY AVAILABLE SCENERY ITEMS - Fern - Pine Tree - Lightstone - Kanohi Statue - Brick Wall - Stone Wall CURRENTLY AVAILABLE STAFF: - Bohrok (janitors) What are some other features? Well, there's a day/night cycle, there's weather (rain for most of the maps, snow for the Snowy map, and no weather for the Volcanic map), and there's clouds that I think look really cool. They use some perspective tricks to add some fake 3D-ness! You gotta see it to really know what I mean, but trust me, I'm quite proud of these clouds, lol. When will it be finished? Whenever I stop being lazy. For encouragement, however, I started really working on this as soon as Bionicle was announced to return in 2015, and I haven't had long breaks from it since. Based on that and my current progress, it might be completely done by the end of this year. Here's to hoping! Screenshots Screenshot 1 Screenshot 2 Screenshot 3 Screenshot 4 Demos and Such Bionicle Park Tycoon 2 Demo 1 (windowed) - In case you don't like fullscreen Bionicle Park Tycoon 2 Demo 1 (fullscreen) - In case you DO like fullscreen Bionicle Park Tycoon 1 - The one that started it all. Again, for nostalgia's sake (I'm kinda embarrassed by the graphics, but hey, it was years ago) So, what do you all think? Feedback would be nice: I'm meeting with some indie game developers near where I live and I'm hoping to show them what I've got on this so they can see what I can do (I can't sell it obviously, what with trademarks and all...) So yeah, let me know what you think!
  4. Please note this was posted in Games and Trivia with prior permission from Black 6 and Windrider. ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Arena: A Bionicle Constructible Combat Game Core Rule system published on June 21st, 2014 by Kughii* Look for a tutorial video of the rules coming soon! ~Kughii, 6/21/2014 Turn your Bionicle MOCs into epic warriors and wage bloody combat against your foes, or work together to complete a set of goals dictated by a Game Master. Battle with and against your friends in a turn-based combat game where the powers of the six elements clash against steel, looking an opponent in the eyes often proves fatal, and kanohi can deter some of the strongest blows. Arena is a game for two to eight players and takes a minimum of ten minutes to play, though larger games will run on average thirty to forty-five minutes. Included in the .pdf digital download are the complete Core Rules, along with four basic character sheets. Currently these rules are hosted on Google Drive. You are allowed to view and download, though not edit, the .pdf. You will also need your Bionicle collection, a form of measuring distance, Lego bricks in White, Red, Yellow, and Green, and a place to play. _____ After three years and several editions I am proud to present to the BZPower.com community a set-based game for Bionicle. These rules have been an effort to create a balanced combat game where any race, any power - canon or otherwise - can exist. Although the Core Rules only offer six kanohi, six elements, and six vision powers I plan on releasing several expansions to fill in gaps. In the meantime, if there is something you want for your character simply talk with your fellow players until some agreement is made. This game is as much about creativity as the little pieces we use to build the characters involved, and I would love to see any house rules you make in the comments below, as well as photos of your characters or stories of memorable experiences. Leg godt! During the open beta at Brickcon 2013, a group of four wonderful BZPower members played several games and gave feedback. I want to thank Kakaru, Kopakanui, XCCJ, and Based Goomy for the fantastic spirit and creativity they showed during the play test. *Please note these rules, excluding any and all terms and licenses owned by The Lego Group, are free for anyone to play but they are my creative property. Do not sell these rules or otherwise use them for any commercial purpose without my express written permission. Thank you. Feel free to print out the rules for non-commercial purposes as long as credit is given where it is due.
  5. This is my first fantasy epic so I apologize for the slow future updates as I am trying my best to make it work The Legend of Xian Bei Call to Dragon’s Roost Xian BeiThe Stench of burning flesh, hundreds upon thousands of corpses, rats and other scavengers gathering for a feast. Many times throughout this march across this battlefield had I stepped on a carcass for my foot to break through its charred flesh and be consumed by its rotten innards. Despite the many bodies there appeared to be only one crest; the Gold Dragon on a field of green, the crest of the Rensford Family. “What the ###### happened here? there isn’t a single Tarly banner insight”, whispered Cheng, “It seems that the Tarlys have access to a new weapon”, I whispered back, “What kind of weapon could do this kind of damage?”, “I don’t know; but we shouldn’t stay here any longer, there could men of Tarly still lingering”, “You’re right let’s head back”. Cheng stood up and gave a quick glance around then suddenly dropped onto his chest, he pointed directly in front of us, right at three riders donned in black robes decorated with a strange crest; a red three headed snake on a black field. “Don’t move”, I whispered. I strained my ears to hear their faint voices but to no avail; they were too far from us. The lead horseman scanned the area, his eyes hidden by his large plate helmet. Satisfied by what he had observed he turned abruptly and rode back into the fog as fast and silent as they came. “Who do you reckon they were?”, asked Cheng, “Perhaps the owners of this new weapon, come on let’s head back”, I replied. Rising in unison we moved slowly back across the field we had came avoiding bodies and scavengers alike, slowly the land began to incline as we entered the hilly terrain in which our camp was hidden. “Only half a league north from here then we’re home”, I said, “Good! after seeing that massacre I could do with some wine”, said Cheng, “You drink too much”, “And you don’t drink enough my friend”. Cheng began to laugh to himself as he walked ahead of me, “Remember Nene? From Xia?”, he asked, “Yea, the one with the green eyes?”, I replied, “She’s the one”, “What about her?”, “When we get home I’m gonna marry her”, Cheng proclaimed. Cheng pressed out his chest and stretched up to his full height, if I had not known him for the past ten years I might have mistaken him for a great warrior. “Didn’t her father kick you off her balcony?”, I asked, “Ah yes there is the matter of her father”, He replied. Cheng laughed to himself again, he really was carefree. I had no such luxury. Several days later…“Curse you Bei! You mercenary, may you dwell in the Circle of ###### Fire for all eternity”, yelled the young noble. “Now, now my young lord Regis, you are making quite a show of yourself”, I replied, mocking the dark haired youth. “There is no other way to talk to those who use trickery to attack an unwary foe!”, “Ah! That! Yes I would be inclined to agree with you, but you see we had no time to waste on a foolish little boy like you”, “Hah! So it’s true? The Hi Band was crushed? I thought they were just rumours, tales spun by the women on the street, but it’s true! The mighty band of eastern mercenaries reduced to nothing in a single night!”, Bloody kid, He was well informed. “What happened to that fool Mou? Did he die? He DID?! The mighty Bird of The East fell in a RAID! Hahaha!”, Shut it kid. “And what of the woman? Aoki? I bet her attackers had fun that ni…”. My glaive glided through the air and when it reached the noble’s neck it reacted as if nothing was there and passed straight through and continued on its flight. The noble’s head rolled forwards off his neck, contorted into a grim smile with the body slumping soon after. Bloody kid. “KIMURA!!!”, I bellowed, summoning the young squad leader. Kimura came running through the thickets and panting a little, straight to me. “Yes sir?”, He asked struggling to hold his posture. “What are losses and kills?”, I asked in turn. We lost thirty-two from the first unit, twenty-four in the second, thirty-seven in the third and one from your guard, ninety-five in total. Our kills are around three hundred, we were lucky they were militia”, Kimura relayed perfectly. “Who was it? The one from my guard?”, “Sir...It was Cheng”, CHENG?! “Are you sure?” “He’s nowhere to be found, We think he fell in the forest”, “Don’t count me dead just yet you cool dudes!”, Came a voice from behind. I turn instinctively to face the familiar figure and face of Cheng, bloodied and with two arrows sticking from his chest and countless more in his back. The shaking man came forward perhaps two, no three steps before collapsing to his knees and doubling over to cough out an inhuman amount of blood. “Go get a medic!”, I ordered KImura, who give his full compliance and ran off at top speed. I turned Cheng onto his side and gave him a hard slap in the face. “The ###### Bei? I’m dying here”, He cried. “Shut up or I’ll kill you myself”, I replied. “With your glaive it would be a lot less painful, heh?”, “Quit joking! What happened?”, “My bloody horse stepped in a rabbit hole and flung me into a tree, when I came around the enemy was all around me in a full a retreat. I was about to get out of there when two crossbow men spotted me, they had that weird crest y’know the red serpent? Well their first two arrows hit me in the chest, they weren’t that powerful and my armour slowed them and I could still stand but when I turned to run…” Cheng paused to cough up even more blood. “Then?”, I pressed on. “They shot again and again and again! ###### it they didn’t even reload they just kept firing! It was impossible !”, Cheng finished. Impossible eh? A lot of impossible things had happened recently. “The Medic’s here! An outrider too!”, Kimura came running up the road with a the medic and an old man garbed in a green coat and black trousers, the uniform of the Imperial Rangers. The three men halted almost at the same time and set about their purpose, Kimura left after a quick salute, the right fist on the heart and a short bow. The medic opened his large leather satchel to reveal an array of blades, needles, vial containing concoctions that I could only imagine their purpose. However the old man remained standing, I took this time to get a good look at him, he was a few inches shorter than me and shoulders were not as wide but his face was covered in brutal scars half covered by the short beard he had. “Are you Captain of this Band?”, The old man suddenly asked, his eyes fixed on mine. “Yes, I am Xian Bei”, I answered, Straightening up to my full height and looking down on the old man. “I am 300-man Commander; Garth Woods of his majesty’s rangers, that is the Imperial Rangers”, “Greetings Commander Woods”, “Likewise- I apologise Sir but we have no time for formalities, I bring orders from General Rensford, He requests you join his force south of Dragon’s Roost”, The old man called out. “South of Dragon’s Roost? Why not at the city?”, I asked. “The city Sir, it’s outer level is over run by the Tarly’s, only the keep remains free as of when I was dispatched”, “And what of the Lord and Lady?”, “Trapped, in the keep”. I looked up and down the road at my men resting on it’s sides, at best I had eight-hundred men, one-hundred mounted and seven-hundred foot. We were in no state for a large battle especially Cheng. But I might just find one of those red serpent guys. “We’ll gladly respond to his General’s request, Commander”, I said. “Thank you Sir, here are your orders”, He replied. Garth fumbled around in the small leather bag on his belt before finally pulling out a scroll. I took the scroll from his out stretched hand, broke the the red wax seal and unravelled it. The fine yet rough handwriting read: To the Captain of the Hi Unit I request your aid in taking command of the right army now gathering east of the main camp, which I command. If you choose to accept my call your orders are as follows: To follow the river north, To engage the force guarding the North bridge, To take position north of the city, To prevent any enemy forces from escaping. All recon reports were collected by Commander Woods and he shall serve as you require. Regards, Gerard Rensford. “I see…”, I whispered to myself. By this time old man Woods had fallen down against a tree and pulled his cloak over himself for warmth, a few other soldiers had down the same at other trees an array of black cloaks, long beards and ever longer hair of all shades, some slept, some were enjoying the delights of stale bread and water and finally there were those who were relieving themselves of nature’s call. A lovely bunch; all in all. Meanwhile at Rensford main camp. Gerard Rensford “Sir Do you think it wise to hand over an army to an eastern brigand?”, Asked the Steward. “You know of the Sleeper Fish Rebellion, don’t you?”, Returned the General. “Yes Sir, from three years ago? It was a total failure for the rebels”, “Correct! But what I’m talking about is the legend of the Black Cloaks”, “Sir?”, “The legendary fifty-two men that defended the bridge to allow the rebels to escape, horde after horde of enemies came at them but the stood firm, that was until they’re leader Mou, was struck by an arrow in the neck and falling into the river”, “Sir what does this have to do with Bei?”, “Well- After the soldiers saw Mou fall they broke and ran, but he stayed. Bei then fought for three hours straight as story tells before he was finally cut down and left for dead”, “Left for dead?”, “Yes! Of course he survived, he was found by his sister who brought him to the city of Xia”, “You gave him command because he is hard to kill?”, “No, Did you ever wonder how the rebels were able to get that close to the city undetected and then escape when the time called for it?”, “N-no Sir?”, “I’m not giving him command ‘cause he’s hard to kill, I’m giving him command because he is a genius at war”.
  6. BIONICLE PARK TYCOON 2 (Fancy banner to come when I'm not feeling so lazy. ) Back on the old forums, I made a couple of games, some of them finished, some of them not (RIP Bionicle Swarms...) However, my biggest success was Bionicle Park Tycoon, a business-strategy game where you make a theme park in the Bionicle world, with helpful tips from Mata Nui (President of Bionicle ParK), Lewa (Ride Manager), Mr. Zesk (Shop Manager), Nuju (Finance Director) and so on. There were about 10 rides or so to build, a couple of shops, and so on. Nothing huge in scope like Roller Coaster Tycoon, but hey, I'm just one man. (Although technically the original RCT was made almost entirely one man too, Chris Sawyer, but that's beside the point) Well, today I'm officially announcing the sequel: Bionicle Park Tycoon 2! (A more creative name might be coming later...) This game will be much, much bigger. Not only are there more rides, many more shops, and a new type of attraction called sideshows (in case anyone doesn't know, those are games people play at a theme park to win prizes, like those strength tests or shooting gallery thingies), but there will also be a campaign, with unlockable items as prizes! The gameplay will be more complex as well: everything you build with the exception of scenery items will have a daily upkeep, which raises or lowers depending on the speed or length of the ride. Roller coasters are no longer as limiting to build, too. In the first game, there was a set number of pylons for each roller coaster; no more, no less. Now you can be more creative: with each coaster you can have anywhere from five to twenty-five pylons, creating the coaster of your dreams! Also, the user interface is blue this time, whereas it was red before. While a playable demo still isn't ready yet, i do have screenshots and a video! I'll try to get the demo ready ASAP. SCREENSHOTS A normal, everyday park A slightly more cluttered park The list of rides. Feel free to ask me about one of them for details And the list of shops. Nighttime shot! VIDEOS Gameplay Video 1 - This shows me starting a park, build a Teri-Go-Round, a Mukau Burger shop, and a Krana Koaster. Yes, those are the only three things buildable now, in case you were wondering, but that'll change soon, I promise! Gameplay Video 2 - This shows what will be the very last scenario in the campaign: build a theme park in the ZONE OF SHADOWS! And, just in case anyone's curious or wants to relive playing the original, here's a download link for the first Bionicle Park Tycoon. More to come! LOTS more! What do you think so far?
  7. Bionicle UniverseDownload:HereInfo:I demo - only the Ta-Koro town Its a strategy game, when you start in ta koro in the first demo Hints:Click the houses to get new toa or new matoran Warning! It must be played on Windows XP! I don't mind where are you going to download it.It must be played on XP!
  8. Discuss the epicness which is this game. It can be best summed up as Master of Orion III smashing into Civilization IV. By no means is it a rip off though; not only does it bring some original concepts, it's absurdly addicting, kinda like Civilization IV.Me, I'm still on the demo, but I hope to get the game tomorrow off of Steam.
