The Hordika
Some of you may not know this but I got into LEGO in the 2000s, and I LOVE Alpha Team, Throwbots, Roboriders, Bionicle, and just Technic in general. What was your favorite LEGO 2000(s) line? Feel free to discuss them here! Quote I'm currently in the process of rewriting G2. PM me if interested.Feel free to follow the blog! xccj
Throwbots / Slizers predate the millenium, so do they even get to count? I guess I got into the Dino Island theme from the Adventurers, and I did moderately like the Roboriders. But my big one was Bionicle, which was really the only theme I was into during my "dark ages" when I paid some attention to system but didn't buy any until like 2007. The Hordika
I suppose you're right, but I got into to Throwbots in the 00's so I'll just toss 'em in here Star Wars, Drome Racers, and Adventurers were pretty epic too Quote I'm currently in the process of rewriting G2. The Hordika
Throwbots- we need someone to write a story on them.I couldn't agree more. I haven't gotten any Throwbots yet, but I'll get some, and see if I can introduce any other Technic fans. Those things were awesome. We should also get a better RoboRiders story. Lyichir
I loved a lot of late '90s/early '00s themes back in the day—Rock Raiders, Cyber-Slam, Adventurers, Alpha Team, Life on Mars, Harry Potter, Studios, etc. But looking back I actually don't have much nostalgia for those themes. That era was, in general, a dark time for Lego set design, with a ridiculous number of overly-specialized molds, underutilized colors, and even awful minifigure designs (for example, the year two Alpha Team figs with their terrible colored eyes). It's clear in hindsight that Lego was trying anything and everything in the hopes of creating a breakout success, and while Bionicle proved itself to be that, it did so on the back of many, many failures. I have a lot more nostalgia for late '00s themes, from when Lego started to find its footing again. Vikings, Exo-Force, Agents, etc. Those themes had much stronger set designs, stories, and overall concepts than the half-baked turn-of-the-millennium themes did. I forgot to put Rock Raiders in too But who doesn't like Rock Raiders. The 2000s LEGO to me were amazing. I never really like Agents. Exo Force was awesome, but Vikings never appealed to me, even though I love Nordic Myth. While I agree LEGO was trying hard and not every set was a masterpiece, it was a good time to be a LEGO fan Edited February 17, 2015 by Austin's Kanohi Pakari Quote I'm currently in the process of rewriting G2. Hasreadit
Alpha Team, Bionicles, and Knights Kingdom are the only themes from the early 2000s that I ever reminisce about
Ford
Adventurers was very well done, but I got into it when the Dino Island sub-theme began, while my favorite sub-theme must go to Orient Expedition.Harry Potter was great, as everyone in my immediate family is a fan of the books and movies. The sets really made it for me, though. I still have the Prisoner of Azkaban Hogwarts with the clocktower assembled on a shelf.I got a few of the Alpha Team sets, but nothing after the first wave because of Bionicle.Star Wars. I have many Star Wars sets. I need not say more.Knights Kingdom was interesting (I mean the 2004-2006 run. Does that count?). Xabla
Do any of you think Slizer and Roboriders exist in the same universe? Maybe Bionicle too? That may have been one of Lego's scrapped intents. Edited February 19, 2015 by moamahrimatoro Quote cringe

That may have been one of Lego's scrapped intents.I don't think that was ever actually intended, but I did have that as a sort of headcanon back in 2001. Once the BIONICLE story really got rolling I abandoned that headcanon, though. I also had a headcanon that Ice Planet 2002 and Rock Raiders took place on different parts of the same planet. It is after all, an ICE planet... True, but the video game manual established that the Rock Raiders planet was separated into rock, lava, and ice sections (and the manual was about as far as I actually got in the game, since both the game and the computer I was playing it on were rather glitchy). CaT in Rogue
I was fairly little at the time, but I remember getting one of the Alpha Team sets, the Ice Blade if I remember correctly. The 'Alpha Mode' concept just blew my mind as a kid, and I really wish they would bring something like that back for modern lines. (Daedalus)
I don't remember actually owning many Alpha Team or Adventurers sets, but those are the two I remember liking the most (especially the games on LEGO.com and that Alpha Team PC game). I also liked Knights Kingdom and Mars Mission, though again, I didn't actually get many of the sets. Bionicle was always my favorite, however. So much nostalgia... Exo-force was awesome too. I just wish they would have given it a decent ending. Quote I really need a better signature.
