I'd like to know something else: are these prototype Kanohi the only ones known in existence or are there other instances of them in other people's possession?

There may be a few, but I have never seen some here or on BL. I bought them on eBay in 2003 I think, initial price at the time was about $400 per mask, a little more for Toa Pohatu and Toa Kopaka if I remember well.

I'd very much like to buy the Pohatu prototype but it might be a long time before I can spare the money, unfortunately.
