Circle Posted February 22, 2012 Share Posted February 22, 2012 Hello :)In the movie Bionicle: The Mask of Light, after Takua and Makuta combined and held that gate while everyone got out of the building, he let the door crash on him. Katuko Posted February 22, 2012 Share Posted February 22, 2012 To build on that: As revealed during the later years of BIONICLE, the Makuta species had evolved past normal biomechanical bodies and consisted primarily of what we can call "sentient gas" capable of creeping into things like empty armor suits and soulless bodies in order to control them. When Makuta's armor was crushed, his gas form was forced to leak out.Eventually, the Piraka heard of the Master of Shadows' defeat and went to investigate. They found his armor and mask, but no Makuta. They also found some weapons (like the Spear of Fusion that Vezon later carried), and some still active Manas crabs. While there, Makuta influenced them with his telepathic powers, sending them in the direction of Voya Nui and the Mask of Life that rested there, as it was necessary for his master plan. He followed them, and revealed to their leader (Zaktan) who and what he was. The Makuta of Metru Nui, who is the main villain, has a real name - Teridax - and is not the brother of Mata Nui. That "relationship" was, in essence, artistic license used by the Turaga.I could go into more detail here, but I'm afraid that the BIONICLESector01 Wiki can explain it better than I can. Like the Toa call each other "brother" despite not being directly related, so did the Turaga refer to Makuta as Mata Nui's "brother" in their stories. Note that the Makuta did first exist to be benevolent, but they betrayed Mata Nui after they felt he got all the respect and attention they deserved for the work they did. So eventually they struck at him, with Teridax at the helm of the plan.But yeah, I would say BionicleSector01 is the best place to read the fully storyline.
