And that was locked safely away beneath Metru-Nui, the only person in range would have been Helryx, and she doesn't have the mask for the job. Anyone trying to use that mask on Teridax while he was getting a massive boost from posessing the robot wouldn't have been able to get the mental dominance required to dethrone him. I'm not sure if possessing the Great Spirit Robot made his mind more resilient, but it did greatly increase his ability to maintain illusions, so it's possible.
