In Spite Of My Negativity Over The World Series...

Posted by Lewigi , Oct 29 2010 · 31 views
MLB
If the Rangers start playing like the Rangers we saw in the ALCS right now in Game 3, and keep going, we could be seeing a rather miraculous comeback, and some World Series-level baseball. Texas currently has all three of their home games remaining, and they have the advantage of playing American League ball while there. IMO, they need to sweep their home games to have a shot, and here's what has to happen:

1) Colby Lewis must hold onto his ALCS form.
2) The bullpen must get a hold of themselves.
3) Cliff Lee must recover and become THE UNBEATABLE ONE again.
4) The Rangers need to solve Matt Cain in Game 6.

That last one is the hardest, obviously, but even so, if they win these next three, they will have Colby Lewis back for game 7, which means that #1 may be most important.

On the other hand, that doesn't assure a Rangers' WS title. If Jonathan Sanchez doesn't do what he did in the final game of the NLCS, and matches Colby Lewis, the Giants will have the advantage, because the Rangers don't have anyone who can match up to Matt Cain anymore, with C.J. Wilson out.

The Giants took the advantage last night, but they still have to watch out for the Rangers as the World Series visits Arlington for the first time.

My Prediction Has Changed.

C. J.'s injury has me convinced. The Giants are going to win the World Series in five games, and it will be no fault of their own. Throughout the postseason, the Giants have won by facing slumping teams. First the Braves, then the Phillies, and now the Rangers cannot do anything that sheer misfortune can't stop.

Unfortunately, that also means we have what is probably the most dull World Series of the past ten years. Never before do I remember a time in the last decade where such a mediocre team as the Giants has managed to catch every team they play in a slump. I, frankly, would rather have seen Phillies and Yankees again rather than this, because this is really what I interpret as cheap wins. In the regular season, I wouldn't care. In the regular season, you don't have an entire nation watching, but in the postseason, you ought to have better baseball than this. I'd much rather see a Yankees repeat, so long as they won it by simply being a fantastic team, than to see a team like the Giants win simply because the other team got tough breaks like the Rangers have, or if the other team fell into a slump like the Phillies.

I am seriously considering not watching the World Series for the first time. It just is a pain to me to watch it happen. Even so, you folks in San Francisco enjoy it. Even so, if the Giants do win, I hope they do it in seven, so that Wilson's injury doesn't matter.

Job Interview

Posted by Lewigi , Oct 28 2010 · 14 views

Today I had a job interview at Walmart. It went well, but I'm hoping I get an offer for another job at a Chevrolet dealership, which I have an interview for on Monday. Particularly since that one is more likely to last. Walmart is probably just hiring for until Christmas, anyway, and the Chevy dealership is closer to our home anyway.

I also will be taking a behind-the-wheel driver's test in the next few weeks for my license, since that's when the nine months that I have to hold my instruction permit ends anyway.

As a side note, I think this is the first time I've blogged about something other than BZP or sports.

I Apologize, Giants Fans

Might I say that you have a very good chance after all, and if you win tonight, the Giants have it in the bag.

I did not expect Cliff Lee to just fall apart like he did last night. The Rangers now have to have big, big outings from Wilson, Lewis, and Lee the second time around, or else the Giants will easily take advantage of the home-field advantage the All-Star Game in Anaheim got them.

However, I'm still guessing Rangers in 6, but it's now very likely that the Giants could win in the same amount of games.

In the interests of me doing my job, I'd like for you to please look over the BRC often to see if there's something the Reference Staff can do to make it work better, so here's a link to the often neglected BRC Suggestion topic. There will also be a link in a content block to the side.

Howdy Folks!

I'm LewaLew, former BZPower RK, former Reporter, and former unofficial baseball blogger. Once, this blog served as the home of my primarily baseball-related musings. Now that I'm in college, I have little time for baseball and BZPower, so it sits here idle except for an occasional visit on my part. Please enjoy or cringe at what you read from my past, and if you'd like, go ahead and comment in the favorite baseball teams entry so that the next time a blue moon rolls around and I visit, I can add you to that content block.

Play Well!

Old Welcome Block

For those of you who don't know (which would mean everyone but Aho-Chan and Sumiki) the BaseBlog is beyond a blog, this is beyond baseball it's a blog that focuses on the great American sport of baseball. The idea of a baseball themed blog has actually been in the works by me ever since Super Bowl XLIV, when Aho-Chan posted a blog entry asking if anyone besides himself didn't care for the Super Bowl, to which I suddenly got the idea of a baseball-themed blog so I could talk about my favorite sport without waiting for someone else to post in the Official Baseball Topic in the Completely Off Topic forum.

Play Ball, folks.
