Can we trade Moffat for Smith?

it's not really a story spoiler though, is it? I mean, considering it's being announced on all the public BBC and Doctor Who official pages and such it's not like it's a surprise or a secret at all. I don't see the point in spoiler-tagging it.

Please, oh please, Dylan Moran for the next Doctor.

Dang it. I really liked Matt Smith, more than Ten. I will cherish his last appearance in the Christmas special.

Yeah, Moffat can still put out good stuff, but at the end of the day I feel like he was much more effective at being a writer than a showrunner.

 

Sad to see Smith go, but the writing was on the wall. Let the endless speculation begin, I suppose.

I am a raging ball of fire over this. Matt Smith was my absolute favorite doctor, far superior to Ten in my opinion. I am really hoping this will change back as quickly as it changed from being on for series 8 and then not.

Actually, I liked 9 the best as well.

The reason I'm not as upset about this is that, for one thing, this happens with the exit of any given Doctor, and two, each new Doctor gets fans once he stops getting compared to previous Doctors. Every Doctor is going to be different, which is what makes the show interesting - if some fans had their way, we'd be into Tennant's eighth season, which in all honesty would be kind of old after a while.

I do think Smith is an excellent actor and superb as the Doctor and I very much wish that he'd stick around for another season to develop his character a bit more - but that's not going to happen, so complaining isn't going to change it. We just need to wait and see if the Twelfth Doctor is as pleasant a surprise as Smith was after Tennant.
