[RC15O5]

Hello BZPower! I'm sorry I've been away for a while, I've gained interest in other things, and though I have not lost interest in it, my attention to Bionicle has gone down and is now being shared.

So, let's get to it. Here is my art.


Finished. With this one I tried out a new art style, as I tried to give a prehistoric feeling of the sort to the ancient Great Being. Anonna, being alien in appearance when compared, looks very different in art style next to her immune attacker.

Unfinished. My approach to a more realistic depiction of our friendly dream eater. Though abandoned due to artist block, I still love this one. If you look closely, you can see what appear to be eyes.

Finished. I really tried to make the mask look like it was painted and not use any outlines. Though it was a frustrating process, the end result is fantastic. The idea was that Great Beings have a culture that requires the sage of masks, each being unique to the owner yet all of them being similar, and they would later implement this tradition onto their Matoran creations.

Unfinished. Same mask as before, only I tried to use the Great Being's trade-mark cloak and robe. I tried to do something different than the usual monk hoodie, and I took inspiration from the cowl of Star War's Darth Nihilus. (Hopefully) Temporarily abandoned due to my apparent inability to draw clothing.

Finished. This started out as just a simple doodle, but I wanted to see if I can color a digital drawing and finish it, though bad it may seem. My favorite part would have to be the mask. You can see my coloring skills have advanced a little bit since here.

Unfinished. I abandoned this because no matter what I did, only the top of Kardas' skull looked nice, everything came out as being ugly as Hulk.

Finished. How I think "Ultimate Dume" should have looked like at the Battle of the Great barrier. Some-what of a remake of a much older drawing of mine. I say it is finished because I never meant to shade it, as there was going to be a digital coloring of this drawing, but it fell out of favor for me and it is lying in my hard drive waiting for it's master to give it another go.

Three Virtues. Silver. I fell in love once I was able to make this symbol into what I've wanted it to look like for years, and I wouldn't mind if there were T-Shirts of this and the other two.

Three Virtues. Solis Magna System. My least favorite of these three. Maybe I should have made the two arms purple to match the planet. The coloring for the arms, however, inspired my with the idea for the next one.

Ahh so many. I'll try to review all of these if I get more time, but for now, I'll just review the first picture:

I love the design of the character. As you said before, it gives a prehistoric feeling, which is great. I love the choice of colours as well as the smudged effect you had created. It's really cool looking. Same with the pose. Sort of a "stay back, fiend" sort of thing. The only improvements I would suggest is to modify the left leg slightly. Something about the position of the shin and the foot seem a bit uncomfortable. I can't really explain what's wrong with it, but try looking at it again. That, and the eye seems to be a little high up. The mask looks fine, but the placement of it is off. I haven't really followed the Bionicle story, but the character seems to be an evil minion. I'm not sure if I want to root for her.

Now to the fiery orb thing. Those arm things look awesome. I really like them. The colours fit extraordinarily well together. However the orb itself isn't great. The random bright red and white seem a bit odd when placed next to the maroon and black. Also, the circumference of the orb is too smooth looking. That's not the right adjective, but it's sort if you made a circle in photoshop and then filled it with red. I should say that the arms don't really seem to transition well from the circle. It's too clean looking, which seems to contrast the prehistoric effect.

Before I wrap this up, let's talk about the elephant in the room: the background, or lack thereof. Why isn't there a background? This picture NEEDS a background. I mean, the lack of one is really distracting and really detracts from the picture. When I first looked at the picture, I didn't like it very much until I stared at it for a a little while. The lack of a background looks extremely unprofessional and it really saddens me that there isn't any. Even a very simple black background with would still be more sufficient! And the fact that you had categorised the image as finished surprises me heavily. In my opinion, this picture is unfinished. Please add a background. Just something... anything! It's such an awesome picture otherwise.

The score would be much higher with a background. I'm really sad that I had to give you that rating.

If you were to add a background, maybe rocky wall or papyrus would look cool; it would seem like the picture was painted by cavemen/cavematoran. If you're looking for inspiration, google "Skyward Sword Opening Video". The art style seems to have similarities as the one shown there.

I never thought of making a background, and after you said that I can see how it looks unfinished.

I have tried to correct the background issues, but it would seem GIMP strangely merged all of my layers for that picture. And as for fixing the guy's leg, I am afraid to try anything as I have forgotten how I drew and colored him the way I did. About the smoothness of Anonna, I'm trying to fix that right now, I just really hope I'm not making it worse. Trial and error I guess.
