  1. The return of a legend. MOCs look great as always, I just have a bit of a technical note: the first of the four lower photos has the wrong link, it goes to the same gallery as the third photo. Also, is the head of the Visk a backwards Whenua Hordika mask? If so, great use of it.
  2. Whaaaaat? I mean yeah, it's pretty predictable, but I think it's a pretty great book nonetheless. I love the detailed look into the lives of various classes in the 1920s.
  3. Ooh, I'm going to have to check that out. Definitely sounds like my kind of thing.
  4. Thanks, and that comparison actually fits pretty well I think, I hadn't really thought of it before.
  5. So, yeah, I don't really make MOCs that often, and post about them even less often. But I built this a little while ago and finally got around to posting it on my LEGO blog (link goes to the post), and thought I'd put it on here as well. main closer underside rear open cockpit smile for the camera The wings have a mechanism so if you move one of them on one side it will move the other on that side in the opposite direction (eg, lift up the top one and the bottom one lowers). As the pictures show, the cockpit and the little slot for the droid both open up. The ship has a bit of backstory, but I can't exactly remember what I came up with when I made it. I think it was something like a rogue group of Rebels broke off and started up their own more vigilante-like alliance and rebuilt or repainted a few X-Wings to be black and red, or something like that. I think the nose of the ship could've used some more work (maybe should've been a bit longer and I would've liked to add more detail), but I was getting tired of my floor being covered in LEGO so I had to finish it to clean up. Thoughts/criticism welcome, although I'll probably be disassembling it pretty soon (MOCs don't last very long with me, I like to have all of my LEGO organized).
  6. That's quite bizarre. Oddly enough, I've thought about writing similar about flour/bread/baking (although it would've been somewhat comedic).
  7. I'm pretty sure they were just stills from the movie. I think I have the book, but all my Bionicle books are in storage right now and scanning it would be difficult.
  8. Same here. Just checked it, it's still up. Did you get a "Server Not Found" sort of page or did you get an actual page on LEGO.com that said "this page isn't available"? Because if it's the former, it's just a problem with your browser/computer/internet connection.
  9. ...I honestly can't tell if you're joking or not. Mostly just in, how are superhero movies and Sonic related to Bionicle? How would the time from one consecutive Marvel movie to another be related to a Bionicle reboot?
  10. Bionicle the brand? Not exactly. Bionicle for the fandom? Maybe. I hadn't heard about this fan-film before now, though, I'll have to check it out. You know what would make it the best year for Bionicle's fandom? JEVIK PT 3
  11. -snip- For me, anyway, I think it might've been because I was 50 or so pages in and they hadn't even gotten to Hogwarts yet. Or even the Quidditch game or whatever. The biggest cause, though, might've actually been that, well, I forgot to bring it with me on a trip to Philly. I was going to bring it with me to read on the ride, but forgot, and once I got back I just didn't feel like picking it up again for whatever reason. I actually read The Goblet of Fire first before going back to book 1 and reading the rest of the series in chronological order. And that, kids, is why you should never stay up late and watch parts of movies based on books before you read them. Haha yeah, I've actually seen the second half of Deathly Hallows Pt. 2. It was a while ago, though, so I don't remember it that well. One of my friends (Toa of Anarchy on here, actually), read through the series completely out of order. I think he started on book 5, went to book 1, book 3, book 6, and so on, or something like that.
  12. Ha, that's what happened to me. I read the first three Harry Potter novels, then when going into the 4th one I just couldn't get into it and abandoned the series. I wonder what it could be that causes that. For me, anyway, I think it might've been because I was 50 or so pages in and they hadn't even gotten to Hogwarts yet. Or even the Quidditch game or whatever. The biggest cause, though, might've actually been that, well, I forgot to bring it with me on a trip to Philly. I was going to bring it with me to read on the ride, but forgot, and once I got back I just didn't feel like picking it up again for whatever reason.
  13. Just finished Fear and Loathing. Fantastic book, and I was impressed how accurate the movie was to it. Now, on to... Goblet of Fire? I started reading it like a year and a half ago but couldn't get into it for some reason, so I'll try again. I'm in a bit of a Harry Potter kind of mood right now, anyway. Might have something to do with how soon Hallowe'en is.
  14. wooooooo anniversary time

  15. woo boy 5 year anniversary coming up soon here

  16. That's the definition of a dank meme. A low quality, low effort pairing of text and image, typically in parody of those who misuse the form. So there's a difference between memes and dank memes? Fascinating. Let this random guy from ABC explain it to you in detail
  17. I don't think you'd be able to recolor a trans color piece in that way. The color in them (as with regular blocks) isn't just printed/painted on, it's the color of the plastic used. Therefore, you can't simply remove it. My best guess as to how you'd be able to achieve a similar effect would be to get a clear piece and use the same technique you do with others. I don't think you'd be able to get the ultraviolet-light-glow that some of the neon trans pieces have (eg, you put them under a black light and they glow brightly), but it'd probably work decently overall. (Also, this should probably be in LEGO Discussion, not Bionicle.)
  18. Huh, first I've heard of it, surprisingly. Probably because I never go to me_irl.
  19. Not "reading", per se, but I finished listening to the Hitchhiker's Guide radio show. Absolutely fantastic, 12 episodes spanning the first three books. About a third of the way through Fear and Loathing, still slowly listening through an audiobook of Crime and Punishment.
  20. Aren't, uh, LEGO sets always hot toys at the holidays...? (The rest of the year too, come to think of it.)
  21. Just, very sadly, finished Mostly Harmless. I've loved this series. But anyway. That was a great series. Highly recommend it to anyone. Now I'm on to Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. I love the movie, and recently found out that the book is actually semi-autobiographical, which is pretty interesting. Should be a fun read.
  22. Yeah, that's what happened, LEGO just didn't make it very obvious. I have a feeling they hadn't planned on making WoS by the time they finished LoMN, otherwise I doubt they would've ended LoMN like that.
  23. I thought Vahki was pronounced "vuh-hawk-ee" for the longest time. It also took me a while to realize that everything that had happened before the whole Solis Magna saga happened in the GSR. I thought the GSR was just another thing within the MU. Also, the fact that LoMN ends with the Toa turning into Turaga, but then WoS beginning with them as Toa again confused me a lot.
