IC: The foreign delegation was led to a building on the harbour, a meeting room for whatever corporate or military higher-ups happened to be there at the same time. The dictionaries were gratefully accepted and placed upon the table. One of the Kiserrais translators left the room, then returned a few minutes with a dictionary of each of the Kiserrais languages, Furan and Otaman.

IC: [Aquileon] Now that rudimentary communication had been established, the team responsible for dealing with the Stans requested that the two nations be able to set up embassies between each other.~+~The Anitalians were intercepted and guided to a port much as the Stans had been, but escorted to a different reception hall.:w:

IC: Four Anitalians, including the captain, followed the Kiseirans, while three more remained behind with the Kiseiran translators, indicating that they also were translators. One was light skinned, with medium brown hair and a strong nose. He could be considered quite attractive. The next was an older man, black hair fading to grey, with a large nose and belly. The last was a tan-skinned man, darkest of the three, with raven black hair, who scratched at his moustache as he surveyed the translators. He noticed two main races, instead of the three which Anitalians had.The captain and his three attendants, two of whom were lightly armed with knives and pistols, entered the room, while the captain greeted the most important looking person in Türkiye."Peace be with you, friend," the captain said, his dark eyes glinting from under his turban. He wore a dark blue and gold military tunic and leggings, fairly ornate, with a small turban wrapped around his white hair. His beard was short and trimmed, and he carried a short sword which was obviously more for decoration than combat.IC: A party of seven Anitalians followed Lloyd's people into the room, all saluting as before. This captain was similarly dressed, but in a maroon shade in addition to the gold. He held his hand out towards the man who looked the highest ranking, intending to shake.

The Slacian Union/Slacia, Celebration and Preparation\IC:

It was a glorious day. The skies were clear, the world was open! The Slacian people rejoiced, drinking and feasting to their hearts' content. In the capital, Salasce, President Vladmir gave a speech on the new world and the new horizons. There were other races to meet, more resources to find, more states to be founded! The people around him cheered, and fireworks were launched in celebration. The air force - small as it was - was performing aerial acrobatics.Once the celebrations had mostly died down, people flocked to opportunities. They wished to make the military grow, to colonize other places. Work began on military, colony ships were built. Quick-moving aircraft flew over the ocean, scouting to see if civilizations existed. Diplomats were sent to four nations that had been found. The military prepared for what they might have to fight.OOC: Those four being Alex's, Blade's, ToA's, and King of Shadows's nations. Also, I begin production like so?E-6: Dropper (20-1) Feb. 19E-5: Stable (20-1) Feb. 19E-4: Dart (15-2) Feb. 19F-6: Bang (1-100) Feb. 12F-5: Grizzly (5-100) Feb. 16F-4: Polar (10-50) Feb. 19

OOC: My current IP distribution is 20-30-20-60-20, with W14 having 20, W15 having 30, W16 having 20, X15 having 60, and X16 having 20.Hmmm... I need to do profiles for civilian ships too, don't I? I'm not going to announce official construction on my patrol boat (which, for reference, is about the size of a Coast Guard cutter and takes 6 in-game months to build) until I know whether I can already have civilian boats and how much they've got to cost. As mentioned in the profile, pretty much everybody has at least some kind of boat, so I need to know what my real IP is once you take out the skiffs, yachts, barges and ferries. Also I need to know whether I need to spend some time building those before they exist.

OOCCivilian ships, unless extremely special, absurdly large, or otherwise extraordinary, aren't counted into IP costs. Your IP production is your military budget; you can choose to devote funds away from your military to civvie stuff, but otherwise, the civvie stuff just does it's own thing without much concern to your IP, unless, I'll say it again, it's extraordinary. A world wonder, for instance, or a moon project, or a space station, or somesuch. That's because these things have tangible in game effects, whereas your civilian freight fleet doesn't do much unless you make specific trade agreements, which have their own special effects.I'll respond to everyone in a bit.

OOC: Oh. Alrighty then. No supertankers or anything, just stuff for sailing between the islands and the occasional seaworthy vessel. Also, it's going to be hilarious when my bartering Antarcti-Vikings try to trade with somebody. Especially if they use paper money."No, no, I agree, the small painting of the man with the mutton-chops is very nice, but we were thinking of something more like a dozen chickens."Also, can I already have three of my military patrol boats, and just subtract them from my IP, or do they have to be built from scratch?

OOCVery basic military stuffs, like the speed boats me and Lloyd and Koth have employed, don't cost IP. Anything more advanced then basic stuff like that or troop transports, military related, will cost some amount of IP.The Stans use gold coins, so they'll probably have better luck with the Vikings.

IC: As the storms showed signs of clearing, several contractors had designed military vehicles and weapons, in anticipation of use. As the current forces consisted of only infantry, Janissaries, and a few small navy vessels and transport aircraft, plans were made to rebuild the air force and navy, in addition to land vehicles. With that in mind, the following designs were ordered:4 groups(3) M4 Aslans. Started 2.9, finish 2.16 (total 20 IP)2 groups(3) M3 Ejderha, Started 2.9, finish 2.16. (total 10 IP)In addition to this, the scouting reports by the ships which had been sent showed small, uninhabited islands at G20, right off the coast, L23, and L21. Ships were sent out carrying troops and the materials needed to construct a military base on each. They would be used as refueling points, and bases of trade with allies in the region.

The Slacian Union/Slacia, Celebration and PreparationIC:

High General Shrikov glanced over the military which had risen in mere days. There were thousands... no, more than one hundred thousand of the soldiers, ready to perform his bidding. "Men! Today, we prepare to face the people's of other lands! Hopefully, we shall meet them all in peace, but if they do not agree with us, then we shall wage war! Either way, we must make ourselves powerful, strong, and great!" he shouted, to cheers from the eager troops."Platoons Seven, Sixty-two, and Eighty-five, build military bases at these coordinates!" Shrikov again shouted pointing at each ordered platoon and a point of the rough sketch of the world that had already been made. The coordinates were F2, R13/14, and G20. Did he know that the last was already being militarized? No, no he did not. But he did have a plan in case others were met, which he stated next, "Aerial reconnaissance will help you find the each position. Two linguists will be with each platoon in case other races are encountered. Now, for the glory of the Slacian Union, go!"~•~The Slacian diplomatic ships each arrived at their given locations, waiting to be welcomed - or turned away - by whoever they might meet. The first to arrive was the vessel sent to Anitalia, with the ship en route to Standast arriving quickly afterwards. The other two were having a slightly harder time due to ocean currents.OOC: *coughnotthatKoSorBladehaven'tpostedcough*

OOC:Wait wait wait, so... I don't technically have to wait till next month to get the first of my naval ships? :P

OOC: All of a sudden I realize my worries about needing a good defense early on just got serious. :w:

Read the post. Rover got by because of a mistake and my generosity. If anyone tries to exploit said generosity, their civilization will be hit by a plague. Also, Rover's three patrol boats don't break the game. If you guys want patrol boats already present, you are allowed to have SOME military stuff with WWII era tech. Rover was a specific case; not the general rule.

Also, do build costa differ from upkeep?OOC: How long's it take for a base?

We were going to do that, but then we decided it was too complicated. If it costs twenty IP to build it costs twenty IP to upkeep. As for a base, two weeks; little over a year.ICs incoming whenever I figure out what I'm suppose to respond to.IC [Aquileon]Talks of an embassy had been accepted, though it would have to go through the bureaucracy back home. By the time it had the linguists had made success; while it would obviously take time to teach new diplomats the language, the linguists and diplomats present would be able to communicate with ease, perhaps not understanding the legalese for a bit but they would learn. An embassy had begun building in the Standast capital city, and they were particularly eager to begin discussion of trade agreements.[standast]Both foreign groups were accepted, and thanks to the linguists basic communication was already done. All this time, though, the Standast looked back to the stars... and knew that more manned flights were a must, as well as vessels equipped with state of the art camera equipment so that a full mapping of their globe could be possible, as well as the possibility of spying on their enemies. Politicians argued, military budgets were juggled, and work began on the Sparrow 2.OOCSpecifics of manned missions;Getting a vessel into orbit, while mathematically simple, is no easy task. Hundreds of tons of rocket fuel and carefully designed space craft means precision and caution is needed at every stage. In Strith, all the nations of Earth have the science and ability to do this, whether or not they've gone up yet is of no matter. It costs 50 IP for two weeks to create a space worthy orbiting manned vessel. This is a NATIONAL project; that is to say, it does not limit your production in any of your provinces, it just takes IP away.So yeah. SPACE RAAACE. If anyone wants to know other specifics -moon landings, satellites, that sort of thing, or even just ground based national projects- feel free to ask. Edited by Sweetroll Thief Alex Humva

OOC: If that was directed at me, these are basic troops and basic ships, which, unless I'm mistaken, you said are already there. If that was regarding the maps, they have gone into space, so it would be likely that they would have rough maps at the least. But yeah, I'll join that space race. And more IP needed for a moon landing? Can it be quickened by adding more IP to the pot? And, besides a sense of accomplishment, what does a national project get the nation?A few more questions regarding mechanics, yet again. What if someone comes into the RPG, say, a month from now? Would they get bonuses to match the already existing nations? Regarding colonization, does recruiting stop growth in one province or all your provinces? Finally, would it be feasible to have just trained bears - nothing special besides maybe some Kevlar for protection - as part of the standing army?

The Slacian Union/Preparation for World Domination and/or PeaceIC:

Not only were the Stans still interested in space. Indeed, the Slacian government was also looked toward the stars - furthermore, the nearest celestial object. Yes, they would attempt to successfully perform the first moon landing. A satellite would also be built and launched for geographical mapping of the earth. They were determined to attain the most accurate maps and geographical coordinates, the most prestige among the nations!~•~The Slacian diplomats presented their dictionaries and linguists, accepting the Stans and quickly translating the Stan language. Now they launched quickly into their trade prospects, regulations, and so on. They were particularly keen on trading their still-abundant oil supply, well-bred fauna, and protection for unused Stan war materiel. If the Stans agreed to it, the Slacians would guarantee full protection in times of war.Meanwhile, three more diplomatic ships were sent forth to three more nations. These were confirmed by aerial reconnaissance to be inhabited, and were thus the next people to have a hand extended to them.~•~The military boats reached their destinations one by one, unloading and beginning work upon their building. The platoon at G20 immediately greeted the Anitalians already there.OOC: The three nations would happen to be Kiserre, Aquileon, and the Seasgate Empire.

OOC: A question on space race--what do we need for a non-manned orbital flight or a non-manned moon shot?IC: The Aquileonese set aside a building for the Stan embassy quite rapidly, moving the bureaucrats who had been put there and preparing it for the arrival of the official Stan ambassador. They furnished it as well. In turn, they prepared an official embassy mission to Standast, and once they recieved confirmation that the embassy was finished, they flew their Ambassador and his team over.~+~The diplomatic vessel from the Slacian Union was expected (it's hard to miss planes flying overhead) and met with about as much fanfare as the others--that is to say, barely any. They were conducted to the meeting hall that the Stans had used, now empty. It had been returned to its original, pristine state.~+~A decent-sized yacht had been requsitioned for an Aquileonese diplomatic mission, and sent toward one of their nearest neighbors.OOC: That's you, Kini.:w:

OOCOk folks, let's see if I can handle these questions. First things first, ToD.~It was not directed at you.~This is something I wrote up for a few players and Koth a while back.Lunar Mission Achievement:Landing a vessel on another heavenly body is an achievement that is remembered for all of time, with the nation who achieves this written forever in the history books. The road to this is no simple task however; understanding of gravity, rocketry, and miniaturization is required. To create your own Apollo program a substantial amount of your budget must be devoted to this. The lowest stage is 50 IP; this will, spread over six months time, get you the research and funding needed for your program. You can decrease the time by adding 50 IP in; 100 IP will get you to Luna in five months, 150 in four, 200 in three, 250 in two, and 300 in one. Additionally, after you have landed your flag on the moon itself, the additional missions are substantially cheaper, costing 50 IP over the course of two weeks to send another mission up. There is a small chance of your craft malfunctioning though, as ultimately you have invested in a tin can strapped to a bomb. Nonetheless, the small risk is far outweighed by the scientific, political, and military achievement that this is.~A national project depends on what sort of project it is; a moon landing gains you a place in the history books, building the UN building means you have a seat of power, and building a massive movie industry hotspot like Hollywood gets your ideas and culture spread across the seven -erm, or however many this world has- seas.~I take the average of everyone's IP production and give it to them, as well as some military stuff.~It stops your entire nation.~Eh sure why not, we have trained horses.Oh yeah, and what color do you want on the map?Lloyd;~Unmanned stuff is tricky. I'd say... well, unmanned orbital missions are pretty much the same, so the price doesn't change. One way unmanned trips to the moon... one way trips would replace the 50 with 15, unless Koth disagrees.IC [Aquileon]A full diplomatic crew was sent over, with the linguists in Aquileon staying to assist in translations. No agendas were put on the table, not yet at least.[standast]The Slacian offer for military protection was respectfully denied; the Stan government had already decided that they did not want to take sides, no matter how subtly, in the global perspective of things. They would do fine on their own. Trade agreements were, however, on the table; the Stan PVC industry was utterly massive, a resource in and of itself. All at the same time, military budgets were still juggled by the Congress; they decided a government grant would be given to a budding company, Real Dreams, to further their research into lucid dream inducing machines, one day to be sold abroad. Many in the military grinded their teeth about their money being moved around but accepted it anyways.OOC25 IP allocated to research and mass production of lucid dream inducing machines, for TWO weeks.

OOC: I can't really think of anything to RP about the Anitallian/Kiserrais meeting, and it's technically been a month, so what do we assume?IC: A fleet of contracted civilian ships were sent out to map whatever islands could be found, along with distances from the homeland. The presence of two islands fairly close to Kiserre had been previously catalogued due to their proximity, and as they could serve adequate outer defences for the homeland plans were made to militarise them.IC: On the west coast of Kiserre, near the island of Shimaki, another foreign ship was detected, this one of a different civilisation than the one met to the north. This ship was likewise met with aging patrol boats and led to a port on the small island just off the cost of Shimaki. (This being ToD.)

IC:As the various ships began flooding into the large bay, four docks were set asides, some of the largest in Syressa, to house the diplomatic vessels. OOCOh yeah, that's something I should of mentioned; when you do special projects -I dislike the term 'wonder' in a game like this-, unless otherwise mentioned or told so by a GM, their IP costs cut off once you've built them. Space stuff is different in that aspect but it's different anyways.
