Exo-Force Concept Art on the Faber Files

Recommended Posts

Mr. Faber has once again added more concept art to the Faber Files. This newest update includes sketches and drawings for the Takanuva and Makuta logos of 2003, a 2007 teaser poster, as well as concepts for a line that he calls "Battlepeak", which later became Exo-Force. I definitely recommend you go and check this out!

It's really cool how so many of the concepts for Exo-Force pretty much didn't change. I also like that concept Battlepeak logo.

I remember Exo-Force, its jungle series was pretty awesome. These concepts are great. Exo-Force always had a unique feel that it stuck to. I wonder, since Faber worked with other LEGO themes besides BIONICLE, if he did concepts for Ninjago or LU. I would love to find out.

That Mask of Light teaser poster looks awesome. (Though why does Makuta have green eyes?) The 2007 Mask of Life teaser poster looks cool too, but I think having one of the Barracki in it would've made it even better.

Everyone is one choice away from being the bad guy in another person's story.

I can definitely see how Exo-Force was the second big attempt at a story-driven theme, even more so than Knight's Kingdom, and the first attempt at a minifig-based theme, although the characters were human in the promotional art. Although I read all the comics, I was never a huge Exo-Force fan but I think the concept is very original and had lots of potential. It´s a pity they had to end it so soon.-Gata signoff.jpg

They didn't end it all that soon. It lasted two and a half years, which is a pretty reasonable lifespan for a LEGO theme. The same applies for Knights' Kingdom. BIONICLE is not a very good measuring stick against which to measure other LEGO themes. My only regret about Exo-Force's lifespan was that the last wave left things so open-ended, when it was clear there were lots of mysteries that hadn't been explained. Exo-Force's ending perhaps helped me better than anything else to prepare for BIONICLE's ending, and I was extremely grateful when BIONICLE not only closed up the primary story thread but also finished up with a wave of sets based on nostalgia, rather than based on brand-new characters (like Knights' Kingdom II's final wave) or on a whole new thematic concept (like Exo-Force's jungle-based final wave).
