  1. Was gonna say probably shouldn't be since Hero Factory was a big component of this site's subject matter for a couple years, but if the Chima forum was closed when that theme was ended, it only makes sense I suppose that Hero Factory should be closed too.
  2. Hopefully the 1:3 models will tour around to the rest of the races in this year's FIA WEC and maybe over to WTSCC races in the US. And congrats to Ford Performance and Chip Ganassi Racing Teams for making a historic win happen today.

    MakutaFest 2016

Don't live YouTube streams have chat just like Twitch does?
  4. but in all seriousness, I made it better: http://imgur.com/a/kFpUX Would be super cool if the set could be custom ordered in other colors even though I realize that's impractical for LEGO to do. But I know a lot of owners who would love the LEGO set to match their car.

    I did a thing today

Implying that's not how it actually happened?
  6. And for once something I did is related to LEGO:
  7. Not really a reboot because we still get things like the Ferrari F40 in Creator every so-often, but I'd like more like that which we saw a lot more of back in the mid-2000s under Racers.
  8. Been a member of the online LEGO community for half my life now...

      Toa Imrukii

      Same, technically.

  9. Brickipedia hit 1 million edits today!

  10. This isn't Bionicle or LEGO-related, but yesterday me and my car enthusiast friends got together to help a local boy's wish come true. Ryan, an 8 year old boy from my town suffering from a rare and aggressive form of brain cancer, had one wish this year, and that was to take a picture with a Lamborghini, his favorite type of car. Through the help of the car community, we made this happen, and put together an event that gathered tens of Lamborghinis and multiple other types of high end sports cars that Ryan liked (Porsches, Corvettes, Vipers, etc). The event was generously catered and the location was supplied by Lamborghini of Washington, who opened up the showroom today just for this event. They even let him Facetime with Valentino Balboni, Lamborghini's former chief test driver from Italy, and a huge icon in the Italian car world. I put together a video of this event which you can view on YouTube: The video has already started to go viral, and I had the privilege to have it aired on multiple TV networks last night and this morning. But it doesn't have to stop here. If you're feeling generous this holiday season, Ryan and his family still can use your help to get through this hurdle in Ryan's life. When Ryan was diagnosed earlier this year, he was given 12 months to live, but was put on an experimental treatment plan. If this works, Ryan has the chance to recover and go back to living a normal life, but if it doesn't, this very well could be Ryan's last Christmas. With the generosity of others, we can continue to make this a very special season for him. The following GoFundMe pages help support the cause: https://www.gofundme.com/x2e62te2j https://www.gofundme.com/aag4qz5w Thank you for your time and thank you ahead of time if you choose to help support Ryan and his family through this time in their lives. If you aren't able to donate, please go ahead and share the video anyways to help spread the word about Ryan and his disease, and to help spread awareness about pediatric cancer.

    McLaren P1

not many people get hands-on with two McLaren P1s in one day... I guess I'm lucky in a way Quite an opportunity to see such a magnificent car in person and I just happen to have a LEGO set of it in a similar color! This McLaren P1 is a one of one in this satin orange finish and is chassis number 005. MSRP is $1.34 million USD and is easily worth much more than that already. Owned by a 21 year old here in Virginia.

    Photography

As most of you know, I do professional automotive photography as my job/hobby outside of the LEGO community. Turns out I do more car-related stuff than LEGO-related stuff nowadays though, but some people asked me about my work while I was at BrickFair New Jersey, and while I had just bought 10248 Ferrari F40, I decided to try combining my two hobbies. You can see my other work (of real cars, not LEGO) at https://www.flickr.com/photos/georgebarnick/. This was the first time I've tried photographing LEGO and the first time I've done any sort of "automotive" photography at such a small scale. The settings for this shot were: 18mm f/22 30 sec ISO 100 It is a two-image composite, one exposure focusing on detailed shadows and the other focusing on detailed highlights and mid tones. Just wanted to share that with anybody who'd perhaps be interested in seeing it. Cheers!
  13. It's not any stress on the server really. Just a place members can go which has actually stimulated activity a bit since it was added. We've seen a handful of new users join since publicizing the chat feature, and some new users editing articles as well and getting to know the site's policies and style guidelines.
  14. Hi guys! I've made a couple major updates to BS01 so far this month that I'd like the bring to everyone's attention. First of all, and most-noticeably, there's now a live chatroom on the wiki! This can be accessed at http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Special:Chat by any logged in user. It is moderated but allows for you to discuss the wiki, Bionicle, LEGO in general, or really anything. You can private message other users as well. Emoticons are slowly but surely being added but be sure to check it out! The other update has to do with anti-spam. I've gone ahead and set up several anti-spam filters, visible at http://biosector01.com/wiki/index.php/Special:AbuseFilter, all of which were copied or derived from Brickipedia. So far they've proven themselves quite successful, as I allowed some spambots in to test the filters out and they prevented several hundred spam actions in the first day. Since finalizing the new anti-spam methods for BS01, there hasn't been a single spambot. Feel free to let us know what you think of these updates and don't hesitate to ask questions!
  15. Fixed all the error messages that were being thrown on the front-end. Some things here and there may not be correct as far as wiki skins go, but I'm leaving that to Swert to fix. The skin is functional and there are no more fatal errors being thrown.
  16. We're well-aware of the issue, I'll be working on it when I get some free time.
  17. A LUG Ambassador is an individual who represents a community between that LUG and the LEGO Group, not between two LUGs. As Andrew linked, the LEGO Ambassador Network has all the answers you may be looking for in regards to LUGs and Ambassadors.
  18. Try going to any page on BZPower, press F12, go to "Console" and run this code: var req = new XMLHttpRequest(); req.open('GET', '/board', false); req.send(); req.status Don't worry, all this will do is test for an HTTP request header and return whatever status code you get. You should get "200" if the connection between the site and your browser is correct. If you get an error code starting in a 4, such as the common 404 error, it's an issue on your end. If you get an error code starting in 5, such as 500, it's an issue on the server's end.
  19. If anyone has any technical difficulties while trying to participate in this contest, please let me know. I'm not involved in the organization and coordination of this contest, but I am able to help with any issues you experience with the site while trying to participate.

  21. Missed that. Well... At least they're using a good design. I just hope it's not as pricey. The price is US $79.99 / CA $99.99 / DE 69.99€ / UK £59.99 / DK 599.00 DKK. You can read the full press release in the news story.
  22. A picture Abner Finley took of me and Marcos Bessa at BrickFair Virginia 2015.
  23. Everyone needs to stop being so paranoid about "leaks". It wasn't a leak. It was a mistake on Amazon's part. We did what any fan site would be expected to do. LEGO does not blame us and can't blame us. When information comes out about something, fans share it on fan sites. It's no big deal. Hasbro fans would do it. Star Wars fans would do it. Why would LEGO expect its fans not to share new info? Also how would we expect we would be asked to take it down? It didn't say confidential and wasn't from a shady source. Amazon is a credible source and a business partner with LEGO. Their mistake does not mean we made a mistake. Imagine if LEGO DIDN'T ask Amazon to take it down and it were perfectly fine for it to be published? Would you all have not wanted BZPower to cover that news? Stop complaining and being so paranoid about something that doesn't matter at this point. It's been taken care of. Nobody in BZP News is at fault. None of you are parts of LEGO's sales or research departments so stop pretending you know what is/isn't hurting the company's sales. It's just annoying.
  24. Some set circa 2009. Don't remember.
