I've had the chance to start building (after a long lag period) so I can hustle and bring some new stuff to BrickFair. So far I've dabbled in Steampunk (I am the coordinator after all) and fiddled around with Brickbadge possibilities. I wanted to stray away from the stereotypical brown and slapping on gears, but I think the result is more post-apoc than giving two baddie Victorian ladies a buzz-saw tank. And as my brother pointed out I really should put a boiler on the back (with steam) to sh
Guess who's girlfriend got them the Loki's Escape/Jeep Super Heroes The Avengers LEGO set as a graduation gift?!?! B) It's a really neat, compact set. And I guess what makes it so are the minifigs: Loki, Iron Man, and, to an extent, Hawkeye. Shame it didn't come with the doctor and Maria Hill. Loki is awesome, of course. Iron Man even more so, I would argue, but both look fantastic! They both are so iconic and the details in the figures are amazing. Hawkeye? Alright, he's pretty cool too,
First, first graduation entry from this morning. Now: I’m no longer a “college kid,” but I definitely do not want to identify as “adult.” Because no. On top of that, I miss my friends more than usual. Probably because in the past, I was assured of seeing them again 4 months later in September. But now…plans are fuzzy. We all have our different directions to go in. Combine that with tension of being home (sharing room with brother) and having the pressure to find a real job and eventually mov
(Please read all the entry, I need some advice.)
First off, I'm hope I get to do this.
Second, I hope the Lego Store has Lesovik
On the topic of first, my dad has never really encouraged my Lego building for the past couple years. It's a real pain to buy sets, and somehow I got Brutaka last year and a couple other things, most likely from the web via WAMALUG, behind his back in general, or stuff he just doesn't know about. (no one in my family knows I have the Clone Trooper Battle Pack!)
BF12 is barely halfway over (or isn't, depending on who you are and how long you're staying) and I already have plans for next year: -Build 6-foot long SHIP to rival the two large things here that own my 3-foot long SHIP.* -Make a pyramid and Stargate for the already expanding Warehouse 13 colab with xccj. -New Bionicle MOCs--and some improved old ones. -Have collected all available members of the Avengers team(s)--and maybe built a few more.** -Finally build some steampunk... :/ Until then,
I finally got around to digging for the pieces to build one of Marvel's favorite couples (until they weren't). I present, the Avengers ANT-MAN and WASP! I could do Wasp as black/yellow/black, but the brighter colors make her stand out more. My friend has suggested a clip and some head-dress feathers as wings. I'll have to look for a vendor selling some at BrickFair. These will go great with my other LEGO Avengers, both official sets and custom (but purist) minifigs. -CF
Over the summer I started work on something. But enough with words, pictures! That's right, I knitted a Fourth Doctor scarf from Doctor Who! It is 10 feet long and took me 4 months, about 130 hours, to make. It pretty much follows the original pattern Tom Baker wore in the first few seasons (there are 4 types overall). I'll be warm this winter. B) -CF
Except not? (That title actually kind of works now that I've written my entry.) Progress on what is to come: But man, I turned it on the other night and everything flew apart (not everything). I've still got work to do! But I took a quick break from this to build two other small things weighing me down as "I have to get this done before BrickFair too!" so now almost all my focus is on this. (Almost all, because I still have all kinds of things I want to make.) -CF
Oh man. Awesome 11th, 11.5th, and 12th games of Risk Legacy tonight! I won game 11 (third win in the past two years of playing Risk) and STUFF WENT DOWN. So cool, amazing stuff. The game makers really knew what they were doing when designing the game. Twists and turns, etc. Seriously, if you have any interest in playing Risk with the same 3-4 people fifteen times, where each game builds on the last and allows for radical changes from out of the blue, where the game evolves over time, Risk Legacy
Well, here I go. Graduation is about to start. Pretty soon I will be expected to actually get a "real job" (which is fine because hey I have this degree here), move out (which is fine because I like privacy), and become self-sufficient (which is fine because I practically already am). I just don't like the pressure to get searching for those things... But hey, I'm graduating! A BA in Journalism from Christopher Newport University with a minor in Philosophy/Religious Studies. I've made plenty
Non-spoiler: Never has a fantastic movie been so terrible. Or never has a jumbled mess of a film looked so great. Which is actually saying two different things. I had heard, going in, that it was very scenic and introduced some very nice "big ideas." I had also heard it had too many big ideas to satisfactorily answer even a few of those. What I did not know was that some of the things they put in made no sense and provided nothing to the story, or that there was potential for foreshadowing t
If you've been to a convention (not LEGO, well it happens there too, but more like anime or sci-fi), you know what a large group of proud (need I say proud?) nerds and geeks looks like gathered in one place. Same thing happened tonight when Randall Munroe, creator of the webcomic xkcd returned to his alma mater Christopher Newport University, where I just so happen to be graduating from in...*checks watch*...5.5 weeks. He spoke a bit about some pranks he had played while a student here and fon
Was yesterday. And yes I was inspired by Bunda's blog entry. Wow, 9 years. I've been a staffie for more than a third of that, and a fan of LEGO for more than twice that. I've visited/attended 6 LEGO conventions and met countless awesome members (I say countless because, while a sidebar tracks that, it might be inaccurate due to not writing down new names at last BrickFair. But it's a lot). I've been on BZPower for middle school, high school, and college, never wavering. There have been
Might as well say it sooner rather than later: I don't plan on going to BrickFair Alabama in January or Bricks Cascade in March. I need to buy a new computer as the new year rolls over* and probably a new bike come springtime (mine got stolen in September). Convince me to go to a springtime/summertime convention within a few hours drive? Go for it. But a whole day's drive mid-south or flight out west (as wonderful as Portland and its inhabitants are) isn't a good idea for me.** -CF *This thi
So here's the deal: BrickFair prep is at a standstill. Like, I'm pretty sure I'm not building anything else. Sad things is I haven't build a single noteworthy thing (or a single thing maybe) since the Odradek. Which is totally coming to BrickFair. Along with my SHIP, this 2 year old thing, and the fishbowl. And I've just about reassembled Crustaceous back to his crab-like state. And maybe my Toa team, another Toa, and Piraka Fusion will make it into the car, and then onto the display tables. B
This year I've managed to build for ten different BrickFair themes. I was hoping for more, but time got the better of me. Still, I like my ten: -Bionicle -Space -Micro -Wind/ Air (this year's theme) -Pop Culture -Pharaoh's Labyrinth -Other -Mini-Con -Steampunk -Great Ball Contraption That said, my GBC module still has some kinks to work out and was not displayed. I'll continue to work on that, as well as some things for themes like Castle and Mosaic to display in even more themes next year!
The 10th Doctor
I should probably get Clone Wars Anakin's hair. And I need a new, basic suit, because this one has LEGO's train/amtrak logo on it.

Well, here I am, my daily visit to BZP.
I woke up @ 10 o'clock today! Had breakfast and then biked over to my high school for in-car. (driving practice with someone other than my parents that's certified for this kind of stuff). Kind of funny, isn't it: Biking over for a Driving lesson.
So I bike home, cool off, and decide to get online.
Got a PM from a BZPer I met last wednesday (Kofan), replied, and came here.
Checked out ChrisKopaka's Blog, and read his funny latest.
Then I add
Man, that Toa Lhikan Hordika guy is awesome. Especially when he (and Turakii #1 Lavasurfer, maybe?) decides to send me a LEGO set not found in the USA! Realizing I desired the micro Tantive IV (with Alderaan globe) from the last LEGO Star Wars Micro Planets series, which was not released in the states, he kindly set me up with one! Sure, he builds up his own LEGO collection bit by bit, but then making sure his friends have some cool additions to theirs as well? It's great knowing he's got m
Ahoy! We can't be forget'n that today be International Talk Like a Pie-rate Day, aye? Be sure to put yer sea-legs on an' wave at that horizon over yonder, and don't forget to give your timbers a good shiverin'! Savvy? -CF
'Cause right now, considering the news, I don't feel like being associated with Harry Potter....
So, how's...
ChocolateFikou (still CF, and Bionicle-ish)
Sparaku (from a MOC if you've seen it)
Pohatu Mata (if it's not already taken...I like Brown)
sound?

Quote of the Day: A lot of people are afraid of heights. Not me - I'm afraid of widths.
-Steven Wright (no clue who he is, but apparently he said it)
So I'm reading through my email and it says there is a comment in my blog by bonesiii. I'm thinking "Uh-oh, a Moderator posted."
But then it's all cool and all because he totally agrees with me on Stuart Sayger.
On a second note, congrats to Dulon, who is correct on the Star Wars Question. The answer is "THX-1138." It is the name of George Lucas's first film. The THX then goes on to be the name of the sound system that comes up at the start of many DVDs. (And if you're looking for it in
Ok, I actually don't know what to post here, so let's see if my day was interesting:

After dinner-do dishes, then play on the computer and
