Because she's adorable =3   And I have, like, 20 various poses and quotes to go along with them.

Time

I have loaded 3 megabyte files in Photoshop within 5 seconds.   So tell me why, just WHY, ANY progam, ANY PROGRAM, could POSSIBLY need 30 minutes to open a 1.7 meg file?   I'm not even exaggerating. I started the load at 10:50 and it ended at 11:20.   What is SO HARD TO LOAD about a Windows Movie Maker project? Why does the program INSIST on closing every single time I open it?   I could load every image I used in that movie into Photoshop within a few seconds. I could load every sound file

Dang

Two people in my neighborhood were arrested and accused of murdering their parents.   Two young people. A guy and his girlfriend. Accused of murdering the guy's parents.   The girl was in my art class. Sophomore year. She sat at the same table that I did.

Merry Christmas (like You Haven't Seen That One Enough)

Well, I suppose I feel a bit obliged to make an entry.   Gosh it feels weird not having spell check on a browser. Might be typoes, since I've gotten lazy at catching them manually and this laptop keyboard annoys me. Anyway...   So I got a Sansa. Sure as heck beats the... heck... out of my old player. Good memory too, it's an 8 gig one. Which is around twenty times the memory of my old one. Some issues with video conversion for it (some videos work fine, others it throws off the audio sync by

Antivirus Software

So I'm only going to be paying for one antivirus program, and I gotta make sure it gets rid of the virus, and that it's not actually going to be prevented from working by the virus (which happened to Spysweeper and Search&Destroy)... so the question is, which one?   From a quick Google, Bitdefender and Kapersky look good... I'm downloading AVG right now, seeing as it's free... downloaded Spydoctor's free trial and ran it, it picked up a lot of stuff, but I dunno...   Anyone out there with

A Dream...

Over forty years ago a certain man had a dream. That all people in the world could be equal, that no basis of race would be cause for discrimination.   It was a dream that he fought, and died, for. But how well are we keeping the dream alive today?   It's something to think about. How many people still make a conscious effort? Has everyone truly learned to accept? Do politics and religion and business leave room for an equal playing field for everyone?   Has one man's dream really come true?

Problem Solving

10:30 PM - Started watching Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei ep 02, subbed by gg. Realized that the .mkv file was not HD quality.   10:31 PM - Ripped the subtitle script using an .mkv extraction utility. Started watching the episode using an HD raw with the script file.   10:36 PM - Realized that the subtitles were off sync with the raw video I was using by a few fractions of a second.   10:37 PM - Ran the script through a Java app that I'd written a while ago to make minor corrections to subtitl

Craziness

I've had a crazy week.   Last night I spent filling out a bajillion forms that I didn't know about until yesterday and that were due today, concerning next year's course selections. I was down to my counselor three times this week. That is, past seven days, not week starting on Sunday.   I've had a cough all week, every since I was sick last week. Today I think I'm definitely improving. It only took three Ricola to get me up to here today. Went whole hours without a cough drop in my mouth. Fir

So I Just Had A Thought

It just occurred to me that basically, the Aeneid is Homer fanfiction.   Actually this thought might have occurred to me before, except I forgot. So... it recurred to me?   Anyway see my previous entry.

Cleaned Lineart

Doesn't that look so much nicer? It's gonna take ages, but...   I'm pretty proud of the hands. I'm not very good at hands but I think they came out nicely.   As you can probably tell, I gave up on trying to draw the long, smooth blade of the sword with the brush tool, so I did it with the pen tool instead. Might have to do that for her cloak and hair, too.   Speaking of which, I might redo parts of her hair to make it look better... man I wish I could draw like Noizi Ito, she's amazing.   ED

Logo Design

First off I need someone to tell me if the katakana is even readable, or for that matter if it could be further stylized. It's not like I have much experience with Japanese typography...   I just realized the "Tengen Toppa" is off center. Oh well. Fix'd on the PSD...   It's a bit too simple for a good Eva logo parody, so I might throw in some details to the shape later... but this is the best one I've managed to turn out so far.   Also, Lyg spritesheet is at a satisfactory level of completi

...randomstuff

Okay, I have nothing to talk about, even though I swear I had something to say five minutes ago.   Uh... let's see...   I really have to work myself to death getting that chapter of MR and my new avatar done in time for May 29th (three-year day for me). I finished both pieces of art I'm going to do, but may I say quite frankly that the scanner must die? Sure, when I scanned my sun/moon piece it was beautiful but come ON, it does NOT pick up the subtle near-white shades at ALL. And since Lyg is

Amazingly Inefficient

I applied for one of those college summer programs for high school kids, at Columbia University.   The application process has me absolutely stunned by its inefficiency.   For one thing, I sent them at least four e-mails requesting clarification, or any report on the status of my application. Not a single one of them has yet been returned. I mean, we're talking I sent these things at least a month ago. Heck, I was an early applicant! And aside from the whole not answering e-mails and not answe

The Annoying Thing About Cell Phones

This was a much quicker doodle than my last random comic on life, so if you can't tell what's going on: my cell phone rings from inside my backpack, I go to get it as fast as I can, as I'm taking it out I grab the top half and it accidentally flips open a bit, but then I half-drop it for a second and it snaps shut again... so the phone registers that as me answering the call and hanging up again.   ><

Snoooooooow!

Okay, firstly, before the fun, I absolutely must complain.   We had school yesterday. EVERY OTHER SCHOOL DISTRICT IN NEW JERSEY HAD OFF BUT WE HAD SCHOOL. Heck, most school districts in the entire tristate area had at least some kind of delay or early closing.   I mean, when the bus dropped us off in the afternoon I literally could not see more than two feet in front of me coming home from the bus stop. Why? Because I had to pull my hood down over my eyes so ice particles wouldn't blow into th

Quality Television

Man... ever since we got cable... whem we turn on the TV my sister asks "Can we watch Science Channel?" instead of "Can we watch Cartoon Network?"   Isn't it so nice that she's immersing herself in the word of educational yet still interesting and entertaining television programming that will develop her knowledge and prepare her for her years in school? Taking an active part in her education? Discovering her love of discovery? *sigh*...   Either that or the repetitive motions of the machines

Vista Is Noisy

Thankfully I've gotten rid of most of the annoying things (like asking for permission for EVERYTHING. "Did you copy this file?" "Did you start this installation?" YES I DID DARNIT) but there's this one thing the source of which I simply haven't a clue... these noises.   For one thing, Vista is significantly noisier than XP. Either that or the noises are just more obtrusive, instead of the very functional, to-the-point digital beeps and clicks of normal XP usage... Vista seems to have replaced t

I'd Like To Share Something

I wrote this for a college short answer prompt, but it's something that's been running around in my mind for a while, really.   I never had quite the talent for getting my feelings across in words, but I hope a bit of how this touched me can still communicate with you, as the reader.   This story is completely true, and it affected me pretty deeply. I was supposed to keep it around 250 words, but it's already topped 330. I probably could have made this my long essay, but then I wouldn't know w

Science Olympiad Shirts

Today at our Science Olympiad meeting we got our shirts.   On the back, written in our school colors, it says, "We WINg it!"   It's pretty awesome.   Also, chapter 5 of 52-pickup is up.

For Auld Lang Syne!

It is currently 12 something or other AM Eastern Standard Time on January the First, in the year Two Thousand and Eight Common Era AD, Gregorian calendar.   WELL HAPPY NEW YEAR PEOPLE!   A whole long year ahead of us now... we've got the Beijing Summer Olympics coming up, not to mention elections. For me it means at the start of the year I'll be taking tests, participating in activities, looking up schools and programs, and by the end of 2008 I'll be applying for colleges which is a truly sc

Yay Avatar

I just realized how easily misconstrued that title could be.   I also realized that in general my entry title has to do with about a quarter of the blog entry as a whole, on average.   Anyway, vector is awesome. Unfortunately, since I was working on this at 100x100 resolution, it came out kinda bad downsized to 64x64. I'm still tweaking, the below version has slightly greater contrast on the light purple areas.     Enlarged to 200x200 by the magic of the pen tool. It's a heckuva lot better

Game Graphics!

So on the Cave Story fansite one of the admins decided to start a collaborative effort towards a fan-made sequel to Cave Story. Guess what I immediately volunteered to do?   Uh, a lot of these will have to be links since they're bitmap... It's cuz the original Cave Story engine uses renamed, indexed color bitmaps for its graphics (the indexed color makes the filesize a ton smaller than a normal bitmap) so I've gotten into the habit of saving CS-based graphics as bitmap. Dunno if that's what the

Snow is wonderful if you want to bundle up in a jacket and mittens and boots and go outside and build snowmen and igloos and throw snowballs and all that fun stuff.   Snow is the last thing you want when riding a bicycle.   Let me just say, for those people who shovel the sidewalk in front of their house, THANK YOU! And for those who don't... well, I must stay within BZP language guidelines but let me say it's not appreciated. And for those who shovel more than just what's in front of their ho
