The Mask Of Wisdom?

I wonder if the Kanohi Rua would do anything to help with things related to wisdom teeth...   ...What?   My swelling seems to finally be going down – I still can't close my jaw fully, but I dared to eat solid food today. Half a sugar cookie, of all things. It tasted very good.   Still wishing it were next week and all this were over... ~ ToM

A Surprise

I can transform into a cassette player!   ...that's not the surprise.   I've actually started writing that serial I mentioned in the comments of the Nuva Armor entry, about my own version of Takanuva getting to Karda Nui and his adventures along the way – no dimensional hopping involved. I got the first chapter written last night and today (faster than I usually write most things), and I've posted it in Epics over here. The chapter isn't that long, so if you could read it and leave a review, t

Eighteen

So, I turned eighteen last Sunday.   I've had an interesting week since then.   First, I got rather severely sick the night after my birthday. Descriptions of my symptoms would get a comedy closed very quickly, let's put it that way. It was pretty awful. I missed two days of school recovering from it – spent Monday mostly asleep (I barely slept sunday night), then Tuesday lying on the couch re-reading The Golden Compass and listening to Little Shop of Horrors.   It was some sort of stomach fl

Away!

Off I go on winter break, the holidays of choice being the Winter Solstice and Christmas... Leaving HH alone with a munkey in Epics.   I should be able to drop in at some point, but I'll be back for real on New Year's Day. Hopefully bearing Barraki and Aquaraiders. See you then!   And Nocturn is completely and totally awesome in almost every possible way. Lime greeeeeen! Glow-in-the-dark blue! Whee! ~ ToM

When In Rome ...

I have the most hilarious Latin class ever. And also probably the most quotable one, given our innumerable antics, both verbal and physical. For example:   Reading Hansel and Gretel in Latin (with numerous and hilarious intentional mistranslations): ...clamavit uxor e cubiculo excurrens. Leigh Ann: "...exclaimed the wife, running out of her cubicle."   "Feles mihi annuit!" Leigh Ann: "'My cat is calling to me!'"   Noverca excurrit et domum rediit. Me: "The stepmother ran away and went bac

Crabanner

First time I've taken advantage of the new sig guidelines. It made me feel ... tingly.       I'll probably make more later. I have a few ideas bouncing around in my head for things that can be done with crabs and banners. In the mean time please do use if you too want to see the below entry happen!   *skitter* ~ To

And A Partridge In A Pear Tree

Merry day-after-Christmas! I've had merrier, but this one was fruitful – or perhaps I just got more things I actually like than usual... My favorites being: Brutaka Vezon and Fenrakk Umbra Deep Sea Treasure Hunter Striking Venom Velika from Alsru! Eldest gift cards to Toys R Us, Target, and Barnes & Noble Once and Over the Hills and Far Away by Nightwish Dead Man's Chest The Witches' Datebook, which should be much fun to read through... Metaphysical tickets to go see Riverdance and Wicked!!

As Catastrophes Go

... this isn't too bad of one.   For me at least. I haven't posted altogether that much, as far as I remember, since September, and most of it hasn't been creative stuff. Lost Tahu Mistika's topic, though. Did I lose any stories? Don't think so... The vast majority of what I've posted was staff-stuff or news, I think. I've done much more non-staff stuff in the blogs, so I'm glad those are okay.   But if you did post a lot of stuff... that's pretty bad. Yeah. And this doesn't exactly do anythi

Concessions

No, not that kind.   If you guys don't mind yet another blog entry about the Nuva Phantoka, I have a few more thoughts on them, mainly born from the fact that I much prefer liking something to disliking it. With the Nuva as with the Mahri, there are things in them that I think could work wonderfully for Nuva in new armor. However, other things that are in the sets as well make me thoroughly dislike the actual sets for who they are.   It's exactly like the Mahri, actually. I see something of po

College, Reprise

Gosh, where should I even begin?   I think the simplest way of saying it is this: I love my life. I'm sorry if that sounds smug or anything, but it's true – I love being here, I love my classes, I love my new friends. I do miss my friends back in Rochester, but I'm still in touch with them and I get to see them in a few weeks, so that's all good. I also miss MOCing, but that's another story.   Classes... what can I say but that they're awesome? Twice now I've had 70+ lines of Latin and/or Gree

The Word Of The Month

I've been wanting to blog about this for a while, but now I finally have an opportunity... The Word of the Month is a word I learn during a particular month that I find highly interesting, either in meaning or just how the word sounds. I also have to come upon it by chance. Though there isn't one every month...   And this month there is: asterism! An asterism is a small group of stars, which can be a constellation or just a part of one – for instance, the Big Dipper is an asterism within the co

Obligatory Postchristmas Entry

It was a pretty good Christmas, all around. Fewer presents (partly because my parents and I didn't get each other anything), but we got to spend more time with our relatives, since timing just worked out better all around this year. Which was nice, because past years' Christmas Eve festivities have sometimes wound up kinda rushed, and, fondly, they weren't this time.   I ended up with, among other things:   • Kiina • Ackar (ordered online, so I don't have him yet) • star!Gresh • a lovely SC

Next Year Already?

It's been a while since I made a proper Life entry, one that doesn't have to do with APs...   ... although I can't help but bring them up. I have so much free time now that they're over. It feels weird. No more hour-long Bio notes, reading for Euro, occasionally impossible Calc problems; the only regular homework I have is Astronomy and Greek... But I should really be taking advantage of this to work on the literary magazine. Eh.   Anyway, we got our (preliminary but more or less definite) sch

Amores

Today is Ovid's birthday! Author of Daedalus and Icarus, Pyramus and Thisbe, and Apollo and Daphne within the Metamorphoses, and the Amores...   I really want to see this happen:   Pyramus falls desperately in love with Cleopatra. Romeo does too. Anthony, meanwhile, is entranced by Juliet. Juliet, feeling slighted and affronted, forms an alliance with Thisbe. Thisbe disguises herself as a man and challenges Anthony to a deul. Cleopatra acts magnificently unconcerned with her suitors. Romeo and

At The Moment

There are APs next week. (Advanced Placement exams, for those unfamiliar with the term)   I know by all societal standards I should be freaking out right now, but... I'm not. The only exam I shall freak out for is Euro. Because with just about every multiple choice question the teacher has taken from a real AP and put on our tests, I've had little idea what the answer is. That and the fact that there are too many battles and treaties and people whose names all sound alike and rarely specify wha

Ai, Ai! A Balrog! A Balrog Is Come!

~ Legolas, The Fellowship of the Ring   Topic ...   I've been working on this more or less nonstop for the past two days, barring school and homework (I was so glad yesterday was Friday)... *throws himself onto a couch and promptly falls asleep*   "A Balrog! The End Of The World

...What? I had to title this one interestingly somehow.   Just got back from seeing Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End... It's my least favorite of the trilogy, without question. Overall I disliked it, but it had its great moments. Unfortunately, the things I dislike far outnumber the things I like.   Barbossa was great. Best pirate captain ever, and acts it. As was the monkey.   Jack was... okay. Hardly as funny as in the first two, methinks. I really hated his entrance scene, where

Project Nuva :: Tahu Stylized

It's not quite Project Nuva, since it's missing a few things, but it is at least what my version of Tahu Mistika will look like. Posts in the topic are nice, but if you feel like commenting on the set design more than the art or something like that, feel free to do so here.   Anyway.   Hi everyone.   I'm not back yet. The yearbook has not yet released me, I have exams the week after this one, and there are other things attracting my attention besides. You'll be seeing some stuff from me in th

Ssc Un-catastrophizing

Figured I'd post this here, too, to help HH with getting the Library back on track: Keep re-posting and submitting your SSC stories! If you lost your entry and didn't have it backed up, PM Senjo. Yes, you are allowed to post multiple chapters per day to get an epic back to where it was. I forgot to mention this yesterday, but this was actually a very convenient time for BZP to be down, because it meant I could spend lots of time working on the yearbook without BZP as a distraction. (We were supp

A Great Fish Indeed

Yaay, I'm Premier again! I had been waiting for it to expire, since it was supposed to in July... But now I'm back to my blog.   At the moment I'm extremely interested in coelacanths. So much that I built one for BBC 45. I actually found it very surprising that more people didn't take advantage of the various only-barely-described things in the RPG, like the enormous fish that I decided to make into a coelacanth...   (That'll take you to the topic, as usual.)   Votes are appreciated as alwa

One Down, Five Down, And One Day To Go

One, I finally have a complete set of six Kanohi of the same color from 2001-3: Onua's original six, thanks to the black Kakama I got in the mail a few days ago. Yes, I know, shameful of me, but I'm not really a completionist – I only seek out masks if I actively want or need them, sooo... once I get a blue Akaku I'll have Gali's six, and if I had a green Pakari Nuva I would have had all of Lewa Nuva's in 2003.   Five, as a result of getting an Infected Hau alongside the black Kakama, is the nu

The End Is Near

School starts tomorrow. *runs around screaming*   ... I think I did that last year, too.   But to all good things must come an end (I hate that rule; whatever happened to "happily ever after"?), and summer (vacation, at least) is about to. I don't mind terribly – it's been very fun, one of those summers where I just do what I want to when I want to, for the most part. Yay for not getting up until 10 half the time! It's nice not having to know what day of the week it is. I had adventures in wi

Project Nuva :: Onua

I am so hyper right now.     Thank goodness for Photoshop, with which I recolored his arms to dark bluish grey so they matched his legs... since him having the old dark grey wouldn't be possible, since that color was replaced in 2004.   He's actually an even better example than Lewa (aside from having to edit his arms), because his hunch allows him to still have gears. Along with this, he also has one very useful thing the original Nuva had – the 3-axle/gear contraption to lock his arms in p

Beauty And The Beats

As of last night, I am now a member of an a cappella group! (One of the many that Vassar has.) We sing Disney songs. Oh yeah. We're awesome like that.   I spent last week preparing for the audition, which was on Saturday, and at which my best friend and I sang A Whole New World from Aladdin as a duet. Then we were both called back, and the next day at callbacks they had me learn a harmony and then gave me a bit of "I Can Go the Distance" from Hercules to sing on my own. And I found that evening
