Bionicle: Year One - Characters, Levels, And Bosses

In B:Y1, levels will be accessed via the Kini-Nui menu. Each Toa will have separate levels, though the levels are somewhat like short episodes. Each will include Rahi enemies, and if it's viable, a boss-Rahi at the end.   Each Toa will have separate powers to start with. These include elemental powers (these do basically the same thing, though the effects are different) and their mask powers. Starting with one mask (their primary mask), they will gain more powers as they go through levels and f

Bionicle: Year One - Breaking News

Production will start full-scale no later than June 12th. I will get a Mac Pro at that time. I used all of my money from a savings account and got a few discounts more complicated than an average tax form, but hey, it's a free country. :-D Here are the specifics:   One 2.93GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon 6GB (3x2GB) 1TB 7200-rpm Serial ATA 3Gb/s ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB One 18x SuperDrive   The best thing about a Mac Pro is that it's über-easy to add memory, hard disk space, and other goodies, so

Bionicle - Year One - Need 3d Artists

Unity has been downloaded, the game will soon be started. However, there is one slight difficulty:   I don't have any 3D models of the Toa Mata.   So yeah. Post it in your blog, put it in your sig, anything: I need to spread the word on this project. It'll never work without the help and support of the BZPower community.

Bionicle - Year One - Music

Thanks for all the links here guys. I appreciate it.   Anyway, the game will need some music: what is a game without music?   I'm planning on using soundtracks from Planetperson's awesome "MNOLG Soundtrack" that he put up for download a while back. This will increase the nostalgia factor as well as linking it to the awesome MNOLG.   For the main game menu, who else thinks a remixed, more awesome revamp of "The Bionicle Music" from the Powerpack would be good? Optimally, it will include more

Bionicle - An Outsider's Perspective - Part Iv

Today's installment of "an outsider's perspective" is longer, because it's the finale of the series.   Glatorian   When LEGO started BIONICLE PART II, they designed a whole bunch of new characters who wore helmets rather than masks, and were supposed to be cooler than Jackie Chan and Chuck Norris combined. Needless to say, that worked awesomely well. (Not.) The members are: Gresh, the new star of Bionicle. Now the green guy is the coolest. LEGO, make up your mind. Malum, the red guy. He go

Bionicle - An Outsider's Perspective - Part Iii

As promised, todays entry in "an outsider's perspective" deals mainly with the bad guys of BIONICLE.   Bad Guys The Makuta: Also known as Makuta Teridax, the Master of Shadows, and Terry, Makuta is an insane sociopath and leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta whom the supposedly wise Mata Nui put in charge of protecting the Matoran. He's also the Rahkshi's father and a heavy smoker. He's died a few times but keeps coming back in a new form every year through a convenient plot twist. “So this

Bionicle - An Outsider's Perspective - Part Ii

The second in the remarkable copypasta series.   Toa The Toa are the resident superheroes (or "Toa-Heroes") of the BIONICLE universe. They evolve from useless Matorans and evolved to even more useless Turaga once they have completed their "destiny." (For some reason no Toa have thought of saying "screw you" to their "destiny", and remaining awesome forever.) Up until 2006, LEGO usually released them as the first line of the year. Then, in 2006, in a bold, controversial move, LEGO released th

Bionicle - An Outsider's Perspective - Part I

Copied (and slightly edited) from another site. I was actually quite scared as to how true some of this is.   “They're using good oil to make plastic to make these things? And people wonder how the fuel crisis happened?!” ~ Oscar Wilde on Bionicle The BIONICLE are a new form of LEGO toys with an unusual twist - they are not actually made of LEGO. Well, not LEGO bricks, anyways. Instead, they are made of "ball joints," "axles," and other weird things that claim to be LEGO. They come with my

Billy Mays

Greg Farshtey leaned back in his chair, the TV on, just a hair above mute. The TV show was on commercial, and he was hard at work figuring out the 42nd Makuta power. Suddenly, a Billy Mays commercial appeared on-screen. Even on low volume, the sound wave coming from the TV made the screen explode into Greg's coffee. Suddenly, the 42nd Makuta power came into Greg's mind.   Power scream!   -=< >=-

Big Storm Country

-----From Spokane, it was all I-90 today. We crossed the state line, through the treacherously mountainous fifty-odd miles of the Idaho panhandle and then downhill on precipitous curves into Montana. We were hit with our first heat wave of the trip, as the high was 80º as we went through the mountain passes. After the Rocky Mountains conclude, it'll be some smooth sailing ... but getting through them proved more difficult than initially imagined.   -----The first city of much size in Montana

We explored our Mount Washington hotel thoroughly. We saw the Gold Room, where the setting up of and signing of the International Monetary Fund took place, and a few old fuses - well, I thought they were old. It turns out that the fuses, part of the original wiring put in by Thomas Edison, were actually still partially in use.   Honestly it sounds like a fire hazard, but I'm not an electrician.   We decided to skip the treacherous Mount Washington Auto Road due to the fact that it's a private ro

Belly-Dancing Ninjas

Another long day took us out from Amarillo, along one of Texas’s unique but no less navigationally infuriating one-way frontage roads to gas and then onto the Interstate. We made good time to Oklahoma City, where we stopped for a Subway to meet Portalfig.   I briefly met Protalgif last BrickFair when he showed up for one of the public days, and I encouraged him to attend this year as well if at all possible. My dad regaled us with non sequiturs that nearly had Tagolrip choking on some lettuce, a

Bbtc Bbcc #1: Teal Freebuild!

Credit to Kohila   At long last, the first Bring Back Teal Club Bionicle Based Creations Contest, or BBTC BBCC #1, is underway.   The challenge: Build anything you want...with teal in it.   Your MOC could be previously posted on BZP, Brickshelf or other hosting site, entered into another Blog or BZP BBCC, or could be specifically created for this contest. The only rule is that it has to have teal in it, and prominently. You can't enter it with a gigantic MOC that has only one teal part on it.

Baseblog - Opening Night Edition

Opening night is upon us in the Major League Baseball season! The Yankees are playing the Red Sox - the Sox mounted a comeback, the Yankees looked like they have it under control, and now the Sox are tied up again. Beckett didn't look good out there, and CC didn't look much better when he was taken out. I am surprised that the game is so high-scoring.   In other baseball news: Coco Crisp breaks pinkie - Remember, kids: never slide headfirst into second. Or third. Or home. Or first. Cliff Lee
