So I am not an Overwatch fan by any regards. Never played the game, was only barely aware of the characters before the Lego sets were announced. I'll admit that some of the figs have been mildly appealing, but most of the models didn't look that great to me. Well, except this one; the two Mechs look awesome, and having one in pink is another major draw, because I think that'll be a first for an official Lego set. (Why haven't we seen a Friends subtheme with past
He may not be The Beetles or Pink Floyd, but Tom Petty sure has some great songs and is one of my favorite artists. And I get to go to a concert tonight to hear him! Yay. It sounds like it'll be really fun, and I hope he plays some of his older music as well as some new stuff as well. It'll be my first concert, so I hope it's cool. My mom says I should be a shirt, but I've heard they can cost up to $60. Talk about a rip off when all I want to do is listen to music. I hope it's worth it
I finally broke down and bought my first Inika... Toa Hewkii. I'll give my first review of him, just in case anybody wants to read.
Anyhow, I bought him at the local Fred Meyers (where I've bought all my 06 sets so far) BTW, if there's a Fred Meyers near you, go there right away. There's a "Buy Two, Get One Free" deal on all LEGO Bricks, and the Visorak Playsets are on clearance... more than 50% off! That caught my notice... but I barely had enough to get one Toa, so...
Yeah, and canis
So we are now on the third wave of Collectible Minifigures featuring DC characters, only this time it's not branded as coming from The LEGO Batman movie. I'm personally a bigger fan of the generic CMFs so the increase in licensed themes isn't always to my tastes, but I'm a sucker for good figs so I wanted to collect some. Granted, I haven't had the most luck so far with these... LEGO Online order gave me two Green Lanterns and Joker (the latter who I did not want.) When I visited the LEGO Sto
I find it ironic that not only have I created some mechs, but I've already sent one to BrickFair! I would almost argue that it's valid, because even though it's been on the front page for three different convention photo steams, I haven't actually posted any finalized pictures of it on the forum. (But as it stands, I DID post WIP pictures in my blog, so it doesn't qualify.) Just thought it was kinda funny how that worked out. And I probably won't be able to enter because most of my Bionicle piec
Let's Play 20 Questions. I will think up something pertaining to Bionicle, and you must ask me questions to see who it is.
Rules
1: The questions can only be yes or no questions. So "Is he pink" works but "what color is he" doesn't.
2: There can only be one question per post, and no double posting.
3: I will edit my answer into every body's post. You can only add a second question in your post if I have already edited in my response.
I am thinking of a Bionicle being / character
So I'm spending my spring break up in Tacoma at City Blocks, helping build a giant system model of Mata Nui the island. As one of the main designers (I guess Swert can take some credit too) I am trying to remain extremely faithful to the MNOLGs and the famous maps. However, there's a lot of inconsistencies, so some of it will be custom designed based on how I view the geography of the island in my head. Hate or love the idea, we're going to be working on it all week and will be showing it off
Man, today has not been my best day. So I'm gonna gripe in my blog. First off, I've been applying to some local stores, including Lowes, since I need a summer job. Lowes has seasonal positions, and I've applied for a dozen in the last couple of weeks, including like 4 this weekend. Monday morning (1 AM) I get four emails that all say "You aren't accepted." Then my sister comes home from school, applies for one position online Sunday night, and BOOM she has an interview the next day. What
So Swert told me that he got to play with these old Bionicle pens at his job. They had mini masks on them that would attach to the beads. They would be perfect for mini Toa, and now I desperately want to buy one. Problem is, Swert's not selling. (Technically, it's his boss's, who probably won't sell either.) I look online in various trading places with no luck. So I thought to myself "Where can I found a bunch of Bionicle enthusiasts who might have had these pens from years ago but now ju
So I posted a short review of some of these figs a month ago, but that entry has been lost. So instead of trying to find and repost it, I'm just going to rewrite it, and include the rest of the series, since I just finished my collection. (Won't be as comprehensive as a front page review, but whatev.) I'll order em basically in the order I picked them up. Gingerbread Man Such a cool idea. Good frosting printings on arms, legs, and torso, and the "Dunk Me" cup is great. The head is the m
Series 4 started hitting the shelves last week. I managed to get my hands on a few already. I have been quite shocked at their massive availability, especially after the rush to get Series 3, and the first two series didn't even show up in the store I frequent. But this time there were boxes upon boxes on the shelves. Okay, so I've seen two boxes each at two different stores, but they've hardly been picked through, so I'm guessing the massive collectors must've carried off a few other boxes
Click for Review Well, THAT was more work than it was worth. I mean, I don't know if anybody's really excited for these anymore / wants to know how to feel for them. But then, I kind of feel the same about all reviews I do lately. Like, is it really worth stressing out to get these done quickly when other sites have done the same thing already and nobody here really gives a care anyhow. Granted, it's the only time I seem to do news anymore, so I guess I need to do it if I want to keep my job
Just finished building the LotR Helm's Deep Set. Oh man, oh man, oh man, such an awesome, awesome set. Love the curved walls. Love the many pieces. Love the minifigs! If anything, I'm sad that it's so large and full of awesome because I don't have a shelf large enough to display it on. I also added by Legolas fig (traded from Swert's boss) and my Eowyn fig (custom made by Nuju Metru) to make the castle even more awesome. Since the orcs were getting outnumbers, I also reinforced
(Click for Review) I have to say, out of all the Mixels out so far, I think I like the Frosticons best. It's not just their cool designs that are full of character, but also the good color scheme and especially all those medium azure pieces! I have a habit of reviewing sets that I really like. Maybe I should start reviewing sets I dislike? Except I don't buy those sets cause I dislike them... and yes, these Mixels were purchased and not freebees. (And this review may have been delayed by a f
So the Ninjago movie comes out this week... or rather, tomorrow. I had been planning to see it Thursday night, only to check and see that, actually, they don't have any showings for it Thursday. And the showings on Friday are either too early in the day (AKA when I'm at work) or too late (AKA going to bed cause I have work on Saturday too.) So alas, I won't be able to catch the movie until Saturday afternoon, making me jealous of everyone who got a chance to see it early. Anyway, despite my ea
So this weekend I went on a road trip to Colorado with my roommate and two other interns from work. This was kind of important to me because I haven't visited Colorado since I moved away in 2001, and I missed the place and really wanted to return to visit it's beauty. (Yeah, yeah, sappy whatev, but seriously it's the one place I'm nostalgic for.) So on Saturday, we flew into Denver in the morning, rented a car, and drove down to Colorado Springs and toured around the Garden of the Gods. The
Yeah, so this isn't quite a standard review, but rather a discussion about the theme and the TV series.
I actually fell behind on the Ninjago TV series and recently caught up with it on Netflix. The shorter episodes were a bit off-putting, but they still tell a decent story, with the occasional break to focus purely on side characters. (And the fact that sometimes they switch to a more anime-like animation style was neat too.) The fact that the last season heavily focused on Cole was bit
Man, that was an exhausting review to put together, although I took my sweet time on it. Got the set in August, filmed the review in September, touched up the pictures in October, ignored it completely in November, and then got it all edited together in December. Of course, it was a fun set, but it's essentially five playsets merged into one, which meant this was five reviews merged into one. But glad to get it finished. For the record, my favorite part of the set is the tiger. My favorite
I was thinking to myself, why not celebrate my 300th blog entry with an MOC!
But Xccj, you suck at MOCing...
Silence!
*Ahem* Anyway, here's an exclusive MOC to go along with a few sets I recently purchased.
Yeppers, it's a Toa combo of the Phantoka... well, Toa. Something I kinda enjoy doing is limiting myself to using only pieces found in sets... and in this case I didn't have much of a choice, because I only have a few canister sets with me.
This dude has got some pretty p
Yay now I have a spinny Hau under my name! Letsee... I jointed 9 years ago on Janurary 17th. The Bohrok Kal were big, the Rahkshi were in our future, and BZP was celebrating it's 3,000th member. Since that day I have matured very little, and failed at lots of things. LOTS OF THINGS. But cool stuff has happened too. Also, the second half of the White Collar season starts up tonight. Woot! Also, new gif in my sig. Since the sig doesn't show up here, I'll post the gif. WOO!
Still no internet, but I had to let you know that I just visited the most anticipated hot spot in Dallas, TX. I went to the local Lego store. Okay, there wasn't anything too fancy, but it was my first chance to see some of the new sets and such. Chima looks great, and I got to practice feeling for the series 9 figs. I came out with a street police officer and a forest maiden, and also a Ninjago Warrior Bike. (Rileys, I still owe you two sets so ya gotta tell me what you want!) Work is coo
Do you own a Thornatus (2009 Tan Battle Vehicle) and plan on attending / sending stuff to a convention? If so, this blog post is for you. So the Thornatus has this one GIANT black, spikey, plastic wheel. IMO, it's kinda a lame piece; it doesn't make for a good wheel, and it's too large to really fit on anything else nicely. For me, it mostly takes up room in my Lego containers. I'm not going to assume that this is the same for everybody who owns that piece, but I'll guess that it's not o
You may want to believe I am from the Pacific Northwest, but that would be false, I say. For I am not there. I am not on earth. I am elsewhere.
I used to be there. But I decided to leave a while back, 'cause I felt like it. Anyway, I heard that the Cassini Satellite was going to shoot past the Earth on its way to Saturn. So I went into space, and hitched a ride on it. Fortunately, the Vogons didn't blow up the earth, so I could continue to connect to BZP. Anyway, I was stationed on th
System Based Creations Topic Brickshelf (When Public) Flickr Page Comments would be appreciated, but not necessarily expected. (Given how most people react to my work.) Anyway, if you followed my blog last spring (before the site went offline) then you probably saw me posting a LOT of WIP picts for this. If you were one of those few people who hadn't blocked my IM name yet, then you probably know all about this because I talked about it nonstop last spring / summer. Suffice to say, I pu
