Bird of a Feather... er, Brick

Lego Store visit paid off. (Just in case this goes the way of other Cuusoo / Ideas sets and disappears quickly.)   Also FYI although there are like 3 polybag deals you can get with Lego right now, my store would only give my one bag even tho I qualified for all of em. But I went online and was able to get all three deals. So that's a better option really... except I didn't want to risk not getting the Birds and I wanted Gali in hand... so yeah. (BTW, I got Gali, and Onua has been ordered. I'll f

Resume!

First of all, I’d like to complain about the word “Resume”. It sounds like “re- soom”. But it’s really “res- eh- mey”. Or something like that. Anyway, it doesn’t sound like it’s spelled. That wouldn’t bother me so much except that whenever I mis-say it, somebody has to scold me! ARRGG!   Anyway, I’m at the point where I’m just starting on my resume. Turns out I have a pretty boring life, and one of my main accomplishments is becoming an OBZPC here on BZP. I’m pretty sure that’s not som

Eclipse On Monday

And you know what that means.   People will spontaneously start getting super powers.     I'd like super speed, but I'd be cool with shape shifting too.   So if you're planning to do anything really dramatic on Monday, make sure to time it with the eclipse so you'll have a really great backstory explanation for your developed mutations.

Tea with a Time Traveling T-Rex in a Top Hat

Tea with a Time Traveling T-Rex in a Top Hat by Xccj, on Flickr A Victorian era time traveler is visiting a T-Rex, who is from an alternate dimension and is also dressed for the Victorian era and has time traveled, and together they share a cup of tea. (It makes more sense in context.)   This is for the ChronoCon 10,000BC theme being hosted by Brothers Brick at BrickCon 2014. And I mean, I think they've either done a lame job promoting it, or everybody else is keeping their designs close to th

Ninjago Fig Collection

I may like collecting these figs a little too much.   So these are most of the figs from 2011's introduction of the theme through 2017's Hands of Time series. It's fairly complete, with a few tweaks, mostly in terms of Nya's row. I mean, I could display these on my various Ninjago buildings, but I like this setup better.   My favorite costume design is definitely the Skybound costumes. I also like the Kimono costumes, the Elemental Tournament (full color) costumes, and the pure energy Airjitzu c

Ninjago City Arrives

It's here!   Say what you want about the movie, the sets have been pretty epic, and this one had me drooling from the get go. I won't be able to build it straight away (have a few things to clear out first) but it's going to get built sooooon. It was either get this set or collect all the other Ninja sets from the theme... so I chose this. It's only about half a month's rent, plus the largest Lego set I've ever purchased.   ... and yes, I know it's probably the priciest way to get civilian Kai,

Review: 76200 Bro Thors New Asgard

So this is the end of my slog of prepared reviews to post.  I got a plethora of new sets from the Summer release, so I’ll probably look into reviewing those in the coming days, but there’ll be more time needed so it won’t be like I’m spamming the blogs too much.  Not that I think anybody’s really noticed or worried about that, anyway; it is kind of interesting that I used to gripe about all sorts of stuff here and now I mainly just stop by to post set reviews.  I do miss the days when there was

Potential Bionicle Convention Collaborative Project?

Well, I am now dedicated to going full time to Bricks Cascade since I'll be a theme coordinator (for steampunk.) So perhaps now it's time to start thinking about a collaborative project.   One idea is another Bionicle mosaic. I have a stand that can fit 4x4 baseplates, so 128x128 as studs. I'm thinking it would be easy to translate some scene from the new animations into a mosaic. Another idea is maybe a sculpture of the new island, now that we've gotten some better images.   Although it would b

2018 Bio-Cup Entry: Elemental Duel

Full Album     Honestly, I was not aware of the Bio-Cup competition, but then again I'm not exactly in the Bionicle MOCing community on Flickr. Honestly don't know if this model stands a chance. I'm really pleased with my Onua and Tahu models, and the stone hand turned out nicely. But the fire phoenix was kinda thrown together... and it features prominently in the entry pict, so... Anyway, I hope the image conveys more of a scene with some motion than you'd normally get. But I've seen some of th

Spinning Rocka Head

Gosh, I've been here for 11 years now. It's kinda sad to see BZP nowadays, where the only discussions in the forums seem to be arguments... granted, it was like that 11 years ago, there were just more people doing it. But it's not quite as big a community as before. But there are still lots of cool people here, and conventions are always super fun, and where else will I blog about random things?   Anyway, been reeeeeeeally busy at work. They've officially nicknamed me Jego, cause I like Le

Matau, Master of Air

Topic Here!   The biggest issue is that I ordered some Rahkshi feet in dark green from Bricklink, and then when the order finally got in, it contained Metru feet in dark green. Like, I already had those, I made the order because I wanted a different style!! So I had to redo the feet. I dunno if it's for better or worse.   Also I'm remembering why I hate MOCing in dark green; it's a terrible color to photograph.   Anyway, entering the contest. And stuffs.

Help Matching Animals to Powers

Okay, this is for a story, but not one of the LSO Epics, so no worries there. This is a personal one. The one I've been rewriting this summer. I've blogged about it a few times, but you don't have to know what it is.   Anyway, when I first wrote it, I stole the ideal of talisman from the old Jackie Chan cartoon. You know, magical stones with special powers (also like Kanohi masks) with were represented by an animal emblem. Fun stuff. (That cartoon was awesome.)   So yeah, I reused the id

NANO Completed

I just completed my NANO Story from 2010.   So back in 2010, I participated in the National November Writing Month thingy whatever. The one where you write 50,000 words in 30 days. Huge time consumer, and didn't help that I was in over my head as far as school was concerned. But by the end of the month, I was just over the word count mark. But the problem was that my story was only partially over; I had set it up for the big climaxe, but didn't continue it.   And then the story got put on ho

Review: Spinjitzu Burst Packs

I got a handful of Ninjago sets this last month, so I'll start out the new year by looking at some of the Ninjago "Master of the Mountain" sets from last year! First up: The Spinjitzu Burst spinner packs. More photos and videos on Instagram In case it wasn't obvious, I'm a sucker for exclusive Ninjago figs, and the various spinner packs are always enticing for their new figs, even if they are generally lackluster in the builds.  This batch is another spinner you set off by s

Ambitious Bionicle Mosaic Idea

So I've helped make a bunch of Bionicle mosaics over the last nine years.  The first couple we did as a large group, but over time people's interest (and parts collection) waned, while my interest in making cool Lego mosaics has grown.  I gave up on trying to do big group projects after I ended up doing over half of the 2016 "group" mosaic, and instead Chocolate Frogs and I have done a couple of smaller size ones that have traveled around the convention circuit. But... We're coming up

GotG

Man, it was more of an adventure getting to this movie than I'd like to admit but will love to brag about. Between timing, troubleshooting at work, Max trains not running, and a distance of about 0.5 miles from the station to the theater, I only just got in as they finish the credits at the beginning. But man, was it worth it. Great movie, and I have just one thing to say about it! (But beware, may contain spoilers.)   *ahem*   I AM GROOT.   That is all.   (Gosh now I need to buy The Milano Spac

That's a lot of Writing

So I've probably mentioned that I've been working on one of my personal stories. It's a long one, already over 200 pages long. But I started rewriting it way back in 2009, and I've been making slow progress on it. I've only really begun to crank it out this last month, when I got past a lull point and moved onto some of the exciting parts! And I've been keeping my progress documented too, so I know roughly how much I've written and when.   A week ago or so, I noticed that I had written quite

Giveaway Ended

Since few people read or watch my reviews, this might be a surprise, but I was doing a giveaway of some of the collectible series 14 monster minifigures in my last review. You just had to leave a comment on the youtube vid. Well only 18 comments, and I'm planning to give out 7 figs, so that's good chances... if people respond to me.   Even when I do get the responses, it might be a while before I ship them out, because I'm in the process of moving again this month. (My rent went up 18%, whereas

And I Just Went In For a PAB Cup...

And I left the LEGO Store with the Batman Steamroller set, the X-Men Blackbird, Friends Tiger polybag (FINALLY they had it) and the TMNT Shredder polybag. Oh, and a PAB Cup with medium lavender and dark azure 2x4 plates, which was the primary reason I visited. (Also a few ladder pieces, cause why not. No horses though... they sold out of those within days, sadly.)   I was only going to buy the PAB cup... but then they had the Friends polybag, and then I wanted to get something non-girly, then I

Toa Inika Personalities

Reading through Dark Destinies and Power Play, I have come to see how our favorite Matoran are portrayed in the series. Some are pretty awesome, while others are strange. So I’ll make a quick list of them.   Jaller: When I first got into Bionicle, Jaller was one of my least favorite characters (responsibility? Why was he so into it?) However, as I’ve aged and used him in epics, I’ve begun to enjoy his character. And, now that he’s a Toa, he’s my favorite Fire Toa of all time! (Out of four

Review 70620: Ninjago City - Level 2 B

Onto the second half of the second level of Ninjago City. This level features the fashion store, another extension of the elevator, and an abandoned room with the bonsai tree growing out of it. And I also decided to add Lloyd and Koko's house to this section, although it's technically part of the third level.     The main feature here is the fashion store, where they're selling a bunch of hats, as well as cell phones and a skateboard and a few other small things. (Basically, I think they rummag
