It's Already Dark Out

I don't care that it makes complete and utter sense based on the earth's orbit around the sun. It should not be dark out at 5 PM.

Star Wars: The Old Republic

I'm still really upset about this game being pay-to-play instead of free/premium or micro-transaction based.   Mainly because my schedule's been very erratic, and now more than ever, I just can't afford $15 a month for something I may not even play every month.   And given both Bioware's track record with the franchise, and the fact when Star Wars games are good, they're absolutely brilliant(Republic Commando, KOTOR, anything with Kyle Katarn), I'm seriously sad that I'm going to miss out on thi

A Realization About Writing

There's a fine line pretentious self-indulgence that drags on and bad writing in one's work and giving the work depth and lifelike appearance. A line too frequently crossed by a lot of people. I'm not singling anyone out since I've never really read any writing by anyone here outside of the RPGs, and I don't want to cause a fight by doing so to the particular individuals, but suffice to say I get a feeling I'm not the only one who's annoyed by this.   I don't want to discourage anyone, because I

I'm Commander Shepard

And this is my favorite wishlist on the Citadel. Scroll down for not-Mass Effect stuff!   I'm not going to get everything on these lists most likely, as most of what I do I'll probably end up paying for myself. But hey, fingers crossed, right?   Refurbished xbox 360, with controller: $140 Refurbished xbox 360 120GB hard drive: $45 Mass Effect: $18 Mass Effect 2: $20 Mass Effect 3 collector's edition: $80 All actual gameplay-based Mass Effect 2 DLC: $31   Now then, not-Mass Effect stuff:   New gu

An Open Letter To Whoever Has Been Writing Snl's Material As Of Late

Please learn how recurring sketches are supposed to work.   Because it's not funny when you recycle the exact same joke for literally four years, with the only variations being words substituted for holiday specials and names of the characters the hosts play. It's not funny when you can watch something from 2009, and watch practically the exact same show down to Steve Martin a year later as a new episode. It's not funny when I can guess what is going to happen, and be right nine-of-ten times.

Blargh

Chord progressions I'm writing   y u so bland, similar, and dull?   Seriously, I keep trying, but every time I try to write something, it ends up a bland A-D-C-G or E-D-C-G, with the same rhythm and syncopation every single time. I don't know if I'm just stuck in a rut or something, but it's all that I'm getting.

Blues

I forgot just how much I love this stuff.   On a related note, everyone go out and get this album.     If you at all like Jazz, Blues, Eric Clapton, or any combination of the above, you'll love this. I know I do.

So Steam Got Hacked

Things like this are yet another reason why, despite the amount of extra time it takes, I have no qualms whatsoever with hunting down physical copies of things - I don't have any credit card info in Steam, the only things I've ever downloaded from it were Portal when it was free when OS X Steam came out, and Spiral Knights.   Still changing my password though, as I recommend anyone else with an account on Steam does.

Settled Back In

The DAW's working right again, the loops and MIDI patches are recognized, all the game files are restored, my browser has all my favorites and such back, I think everything's back to normal now on this thing after getting it fixed, and hopefully I should finally be able to make some headway on something more notable than shooting zombies. Of course the zombie fighting will continue though. As will the fortressing.

"muy Buen, Si Americano?" "si, Muy Buen Amigo."

Ended up joining a Left 4 Dead 2 server with all three other players turning out to be Mexican. That, or they all knew Spanish and were screwing with me. Or they're Spanish, and I can't tell the difference between colloquialisms and accents of the two variants of the language at 1 AM. Either way though, I only know about a dozen words of Spanish, so needless to say there was a language barrier. I think I got their trust when I shotgunned my way through the majority of a rolling panic to end the

Elder Legend Of Duty: Modern Skyrim Sword 3

Seriously, after the E3 demo a year or two ago, I was skeptical, and mainly prereserved because orchestral Zelda CD + Zelda WiiMotion Plus, something I don't have and something that more and more games are requiring, and a potentially good Zelda game is a good deal to me, but after reading through the prerelease previews while the forum was down, I'm seriously excited for how this thing has developed.

The Importance Of An H

"Oh hey, John McLaughlin, I didn't think anywhere around here carried Jazz-fusion guitar records."   *Later, after buying the McLaughlin record*   "Wait, none of these songs are John McLaughlin...to wikipedia!"   Turns out I didn't buy a CD of John McLaughlin, the English virtuoso Jazz-fusion guitarist, I bought a CD of Jon McLaughlin, the American Pop-rock singer-songwriter pianist.   Always double-check these things before putting money down, kids.

I Live!

Finally got it back after getting a new logic board. My computer essentially had its central nervous system in arrest, which was why it kept crashing, and it took a little while to get the organ-part in for the operation-repair. I'm back now though, so hopefully everything will go smoothly.

Not Quite Dead Yet

So, it's looking more and more like it's a hardware issue I've been having. If this is the case, it'll probably mean I'll be gone for a few days, maybe a few weeks if they have to send it off and have it looked at by warrantied repair shops or something. Given what happened last time my family tried to repair a laptop instead of a desktop, I don't want to try myself. Just wanted to let you guys know before then that I'm doing fine and I'm okay, it's just my computer that's in distress.

Success! ...kinda.

"Hey, shops inc. guy, store co. stores said they had L4D2 but they didn't. Do you?"   "Yes we do."   "Victory!"   *Pass by electronics co. store on way back to car*   "Well, my computer has been stupid lately, I don't want to crash in the middle of a campaign, and nothing I've tried has worked...lets get it looked at, I have time."   *10 minutes later*   "So given there've been all these kernel panics in such a short time period, something's probably big wrong with it. Do you have a recent backu

Buying Left 4 Dead 2

"Hey store co. stores guy, do you have Left 4 Dead 2 like you said on the phone?"   "Computer said there are two on the floor, but I couldn't find them. We have a box of Valve stuff, if you come back tomorrow it'll be on the floor."   "But none tonight?"   "None tonight."     This feels very similar to my hunt for a copy of Mass Effect 2. Except not quite as hard. That, and in an effort to spite me, I now see copies of ME2 in a lot of places. On the bright side though, in addition to store co.

Siri

I've not actually used an iPhone 4S yet, so I don't know how awesome Siri is and whether or not she/it is really the artificial intelligence they're marketing her/it as, or just a very classy voice-response system. But I do know that so far, I love the personality they gave her/it. More thoughts once I eventually try one, but while I'm still skeptical, it's now hopeful skepticism.

Lets Make Some Science

I'm bored, and it's late enough that there's nothing to do, but too early to go to bed.   Anyone up for Portal 2 co-op?

I'm Commander Shepard, And This Is The Best News I've Received About Mass Effect 3

Now of course this is still going to need confirmation on a number of things about the Wii U before true celebration(Price, whether or not multiple screened controllers can be used - and I know at E3 they couldn't, but that was a prototype, not a final model, or at least I think it was - if it's coming out before or very soon after ME3, etc.), but given I was already considering buying a Wii U early-on, granted eventually, with how cheap they're getting, I'll probably still buy an old 360 refurb
