Where Have You Been?

I logged into the forums to update the Staff History topic (Thanks, Ziko!) and noticed I had a birthday topic I hadn't checked out yet. A few people commented about my inactivity on the forums.   Over the past six months I've started a real job and moved into my own apartment. Full-time work takes a good bit of energy out of you, and I chose to relax mostly by watching Netflix, Hulu or playing my Xbox with friends. I hate to admit it, but BZPower isn't always on my mind when I get home. However,

Senior

So I'm a Senior in high school now. Today was my last day because I found out that I'm exempt from -all- of my exams. I know Than, you can't get exempt. I'm sorry for you.   On the other hand, the season finale for Heroes was superb. More questions answered than new ones, I'd say, which makes it easier to wait for season 2. I can't wait for the DVD box set of season 1 because I missed the first half of the season.   It's summer. I finally get to stay up late, sleep in late, and work to make

Great Way To Start Off A New Year

So it was pretty much the coldest it's been all school year the -first- day we get back from Christmas break. Odd, because a few days before Christmas, I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.   And don't you just love it when you're in school on a Federal holiday, and when none of the other school in your town will be open for another 2 days or so?   I'm ready for '08.

Senioritis

I've probably got the largest case known to mankind. It's gotten to the point where I don't pay one bit of attention in class.   Why do all the teachers have to decide to give us one last test before spring break? Physics, Brit. Lit, College Algebra, and Vocab all tomorrow? Geez, people.

Bioshock

Really, it's one of the best games I've ever played. And I'm only a few hours into the game. If you're old enough or trusted by your parents, you should check out this game. I mean, haven't you always wanted to incinerate people, watch them jump into water while you ready your electricity to shock them? At least in a video game. And the Big Daddies are so freakin' hard to take down. I only wish I had more time to play it. Plus, it has incredibly replay value.   Not to mention, it was only $50

Dorm Life

Fire alarm goes off at 1AM.   Your only car key snaps in the door, disabling you to try and warm up in 30 degree weather.   What fun.

Teacher Conferences Ftw!

No school tomorrow or Friday! It's about time I get a few days off.   Now, if only I had my Xbox to make the days off even better...   I laugh at you as you go to school tomorrow and Friday.

Untitled

So I found out that I'm exempt from all of my exams except for one. I'm not too worried about taking it, though, it's only English. The only thing I'm worried about is not getting enough time to finish the composition after the actual test. But I managed to pull out an essay (including outline, rough draft, and editing the rough draft) in about 30 minutes or so today. But once I'm done with this exam...   School's out for the year!!   A lot of people I know aren't getting out until -next- w

Fyi

I strongly dislike people who think they're cooler than everyone else.   There is always someone cooler than you.   I also dislike it when you say one derrogatory remark to someone, then go back later and tell him that you were "only joking." Most people say that because you know you will get in trouble.   Other than that, nothing really interesting has happened in the month of April. My sister is moving into her new house this week, but that's about it.   17 more days of school.

Good Deeds

So after church this evening my friends and I went to Wal*Mart to price out food for our camping trip this weekend. I pulled into the parking lot, get out of my car, and as I was headed to the Food Center entrance I noticed a nice, barely used phone laying on the ground.   "Oh look! A phone!"   It looked almost brand new. I looked around to see if anyone was walking away in the parking lot and might have dropped it, but there was no one else walking in that aisle. I looked in the contacts lis

Mmm, Subway

How I love the $5 footlong. It's a gift from God for a college student living on his own.

Dear Paolini

Dear Christopher Paolini,   WHERE IS BOOK 4? Sincerely, Your readers.   Does anyone have any suggestions for series that I would like, based on the fact that I like the Inheritance cycle (please don't come in here to hate on that series). I was in a Cracker Barrel in Virginia and found an audio book that caught my eye - the author is Naomi Novik. The series I found is apparently an alternate history set in the Napolean era which sounds freaking awesome. Any readers of this series?   F

Brisingr

So Brisingr came out yesterday! Picked up my reserved copy and I hope to start reading it soon.   All you haters need to quit hatin' on Paolini... I'm convinced he took so long to write this book because he wanted to make it less similar to Star Wars/LotR/any story that has a storyline.

I Finally Beat Mass Effect 2

What the what??   Can has Mass Effect 3 now?   Only one person didn't survive the mission, but I didn't really like that member anyways. I'll go through again from my last save and hopefully be able to save them all so I can get that one blasted achievement.   Excellent game. I eagerly anticipate the finale of the series. Hats off to you BioWare, I don't think a video game series has ever had such an intriguing story.   Now to study for this Statistics test I've been dreading...

Anniversary

What the what, you guys. I just remembered...   Nine years on this website, as of May 29th.   I have been a staff member for seven of those years.   That's a long stinkin' time.

Of Scholarships

I opened a letter yesterday that was sent to me from my school and thoroughly read it. It turns out that our school -finally- set up a scholarship for academics instead of sports (mostly football, which hardly won half their games this past season). So my parents do not have to pay any tuition for my entire school Senior year, only books, etc. That should save them a few thousand dollars to put away towards my college tuition. That beats me taking out a loan so soon. I know I'll have to pull out

PAX East 2013

As has become tradition, I went to PAX East 2013 in Boston this past weekend. My good friends Andrew, Nate and Adrian (and others not on these forums) accompanied me. If I may, I believe I speak for the entire group in saying we all had an extraordinary time. This was my third time in Boston and my affection for that city grows every year. I would highly enjoy the chance to visit the city outside of PAX and experience of the culture that town has to offer.   Maybe this weekend I'll write a blog

In Review

2009 was a great year for me. In review, here are some of the reasons why I thought this year was awesome:   - Finished my first year of college - Met one of my closest friends - Drove by myself to San Antonio to see said friend graduate from Basic Military Training - Went on a youth trip to Orlando, Florida; while there, I went to Walt Disney World for the first time (okay, second, but first was when I was about 2 years old) - Went on a family vacation to Williamsburg, Virginia, probably m

The Hulk

The Incredible Hulk was an amazing movie. I would say it was right on par with Iron Man, if not a little bit better (Liv Tyler is hotter than whats-her-face.). So anyone who enjoys good action/super hero movies should see this one as well.   I also saw Get Smart this weekend, which was very funny. It was better than Zohan in the sense that Get Smart had an actual plot and action in it.   Oh BTW, I'm the coolest Transformer evar!

Oh, Wednesday, Come Sooner!

Yes, folks, the HALO 3 BETA TEST lands this Wednesday! I'd definately skip school all day Wednesday if I knew I could still get exempt from all my exams. I almost feel like not going to church, either, but maybe I just won't hang out long afterwards.   And I found the coolest shoes today. I'm proud of myself.   Chem. test on Monday can die. No one cares about equilibrium constants and stuff. Except for Ryan.   And we get our yearbooks this week! I'm excited because I was on the yearbook te

Wanted

So if you didn't know already, I'm a movie fanatic. Nearly every weekend I watch at least one movie. And since summer is the best time for movies, I'm spending way too much time (and money - $9 for a ticket here) at the Rave (our theatre).   This weeks big premier was Wanted.   *mind = blown*   The movie starts off with two intense chase scenes that pull you into the movie's tight grasp. It never seems to let go, until the credits start rolling. This movie had more twists that Shyamalan's la

When I Go Out

"When I go out I play in the street I get hit by cars I make mashed potatoes I get hit by cars!!"   This blog entry is dedicated to the former band Five Iron Frenzy. Quite possibly the best band of all time. Never have I heard such witty and moving songs in the same album, with beats that just make you wanna smash something.   I nearly cried when they broke up, because I knew I'd never be blessed to see them play live. If I could have one wish granted, it would be that FIF got back togeth

Dirty Santa

I need a Dirty Santa gift idea!   Keep it under $10. (Preferably something I could get at Wal-Mart or Target, etc.)   GO!   (I was thinking a box of oatmeal. No one wants oatmeal. )
