also if there only for a year and a half they will be gone in 4 pain-filled and annoying months

I've had my on for 75 days and 2-3 some hours. ITS BEEN AN ETERNITY!!!!!!!!!!! I have to keep them on for 2 whole years!!

Not really, I just figured it out right then. I wanted to go to the exact second to really freak you out, but I cant remember the time of the oppointment

Heheh, I still remember how long it felt before I could get rid of my braces...

And then, I had to put up with my retainer for several more months. Have fun when you get yours; especially since unlike me, you'd be getting them on the top and bottom.

I have a bite plane, which is close to a retainer, except it serves a diffenent function. They aren't that bad.

Not really. Although, it is kind of annoying when you forget to take them out when you eat. And then, they get kind of disgusting after a while (think plaque, except it's stuck on an object). Brushing the retainers along with your teeth helps, but mine somehow always look bad, which is a pity since it was such a pretty shade of blue, though not as pretty as the one I used for my braces.

As a side note, I never had braces on my lower jaw, so I have no idea how retainers feel down there.

I'm probably gonna have them on both. My teeth were reeeeaaallly bad.

I got my braces off a couple weeks ago. =D

I have to wear retainers on the top and bottom for the rest of my life, though.

Really? 10? From what I heard, you only keep your retainers from 2-3 years. That's probably how long I'm gonna have 'em for, even though they'll be on the top and bottom.

And trust me, Shadix, they won't be as bad as braces.

Although braces aren't too bad, if you ask me.

Braces aren't too bad, but with elastics and chains they plain suck. And I know retainers will be better.

My sister is still wearing her's every night and she's 19, got hers off at.... 14, maybe 15.

I ditched my retainer before a year was up (though I was close), partially because I constantly forgot to put them back on after taking them off and partially because they were getting gross no matter how much I brushed them. With the exception of this one tooth that didn't finish growing until after braces and retainer, my entire top row is still straight.
