It already is dead, Laughin'Man. Country is, at this point, either arena rock that talks about drinking, American, or other 'country' things or 90's soft pop/rock.

Not to say I don't like some country acts (Brad Paisley, Keith Urban, Carrie Underwood, Big & Rich, and Toby Keith to name a few), but modern country is just pop/rock with a banjo or fiddle thrown in.

...No, there's still a pretty distinct difference between country music and arena rock/soft pop-rock.

I mean that I want it to just go away completely. Maybe it's because I live in West Virginia (AKA Redneck, USA), but it seems absolutely inescapable. Absolutely inescapable and absolutely terrible music.

You are right, most of it is terrible at this point, and this is coming from a country music fan. I feel really sorry for you, WV must be hillbilly heck. At least down here in NC we don't have too many absolute rednecks.

Good country music was Willie Nelson, Kenny Rogers, and Loretta Lynn and whatnot. Nowadays it's just terrible, sadly. Lots of music could be much, much better if it just returned to that age. =/

Country music isn't bad. I mean, a lot of it is pop country, but pop isn't necessarily bad, either.

My only problem with most country music is that most country songs I hear on the radio sound the same.

Country used to be awesome.

Then comes along Kid Rock and that Disney-pop-artist-country-wannabe Taylor needsaSwfitkickintherear.

Brad Paisley though, he's undeniably awesome.
