-Bionicleman- Posted July 27, 2012 Did you try switching it on and off? (old joke is old) Quote Link to comment
Chols Posted July 27, 2012 Yeah, I got it in October, so the manufacturer's warranty is still active. I think I'll call Apple support and see if it's eligible for repairs, but since I'll be going to Bfair soon, I can't send it in for a few weeks. Quote Link to comment
Alex Humva Posted July 27, 2012 Yeah, they should be able to replace the glass. Quote Link to comment
Xaeraz Posted July 27, 2012 Did you drop a it on a feather pillow or something? Quote Link to comment
Chols Posted July 27, 2012 I've dropped it on cold hard concrete without any cracks before... I had it tucked in my shirt. Kinda forgot it was there when I sat down. Apparently that cracked it. That's just embarrassing. :| Well, looks like I lost the warranty booklet, but I still have the serial number, so hopefully that's enough. Quote Link to comment
Avohkah Tamer Posted July 27, 2012 You could try the Genius Bar at your local Apple Store, but I don't know for sure whether your warranty covers cracked glass. The glass is definitely replaceable, though. Maybe not by yourself (I think the 4th gen has the glass glued to the LCD), but there are numerous businesses that can do this repair if your warranty can't help you. Quote Link to comment
Sisen Posted July 27, 2012 You need geek squad protection and an otter box case. Quote Link to comment
Chols Posted July 27, 2012 I'd like Otterbox but they're so expensive. ;o; I think I'll get the screen fixed, then shop around for some protection. Quote Link to comment
Let's Henshin! Posted July 27, 2012 I believe when my mom's screen was cracked she was able to repair due the warranty at Apple. Quote Link to comment
Sisen Posted July 27, 2012 Apple does not cover broken screens under their warranty. That's not considered a manufacturer defect which is what they cover. Occasionally they will be generous and do a replacement. They replaced my friends iPad once after his kids jumped on it on the bed.... They usually don't cover that sort of thing though. Chols Posted July 27, 2012 How much do Apple replacements cost? I'l likely go for a third-party repairer, but I need to know just in case. Quote Link to comment
Sisen Posted July 27, 2012 I have no clue. I just know the pricing of our 1, 2, and 3yr ADH plans you have to get before breakages. Quote Link to comment
Kothra Posted July 27, 2012 Get an Otterbox Commuter case like me. It's like $20-25 on Amazon, which may be more than your typical case, but it's less than the suggested retail price, and it's a REALLY nice case. Quote Link to comment
Chols Posted July 27, 2012 They were like $60 on the otterbox site. Amazon sounds much better, lol. Quote Link to comment
