Could use an opinion

So I will be making my own birthday cake this year as per my own wishes. I wanted to do something LEGO themed again. The last LEGO themed cake I made was this one here.

So, like that but with less frog face is what I am hoping for. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in me trying any lego theme specifically as there is soooooo much to LEGO and I still have yet to make up my mind. Just keep in mind that kissing avatars and banners are allowed on this site, but I will be showing this to my folks. That means no shipping. >=/

Whassat, Billy? You don't like cake?

... Run, Billy. Run as far away from my lawn as fast as humanly possible...

He stares into the souls of children and asks if they have been good over the past year. If he deems them worthy, they get to make a wish. The smart ones ask that he spare them another year...

Interesting... Anyway...

A castle one could turn out neat. Just make the outside of the cake look like a wall and decorate the top or something.

Wow. I made it through this without a portal reference. Wait... Darn-it!

That cake looks really good (despite soul-less Lewa).

As for cake ideas, maybe a Hero Factory one? I dunno. I think Rayg's suggestion for a Lego Movie-themed one would be cool, though.

:kaukau: Well, since the movie just came out...DANGIT, IneRayg! You beat me to it!

Well in any case, do something with System. Try and use all of the normal colors, too.

OR you could do a wooden duck. Someone might get the reference.

All good suggestions. However, all I can think of now is Johnny Thunder swooping in at the end of the Lego Movie to defeat Lord Business at the top of his castle in a manner similar to the end of Banjo Kazooie. I honestly hope that's how the movie ends now.

Also, @Takuma Nuva: It's actually moulded Marzipan, which is what I will be using this time around as well. Fondant isn't particularly good tasting, but almond paste is delicious. <3

Fondant isn't too bad if you have it almost right after it's made, but that's rarely the case so, yeah, I usually don't eat it. xP

I've never heard of using marzipan before and have to admit I'm intrigued. Do you make it yourself or is it store-bought?

Well, I mix it together at home, but I make it out of canned almond paste and confectioners sugar. So... fifty-fifty there. =P

My mom does a lot of cake stuff like this so that's why I'm so fascinated, except she's pretty much always used fondant. I feel like she'd be interested in knowing how well marzipan compares.

How easily moldable is it? It looks like it holds shape well enough, but does it develop cracks easily as it dries? I've never actually seen marzipan IRL in case you haven't figured it out. :P

Oh my gosh, your mom is amazing!

Anyway, it does develop cracks as it dries out in my experience. It's not quite as easy to mould as fondant in my experience, although it does have its uses for cake decorating. Marzipan isn`kt as malliable, I`d say. I`m pretty sure it would crack if you, say tried to roll it out and spread it over a cake in a manner similar to fondant. It does ddry out as well, so you do have to keep it covered while you are using it, as you do with fondant.
