Feeling rebellious

Who me? Not really, no. I am just not overly fond of fashion rules and/or restrictions. Basically it boils down to stuff like a former friend going all

"Oh you want cyberloxx? Then you'll have to wear a full cyber outfit though."

or similarly whenever I talked about potential ideas or projects. I just don't get the whole thinking in boxes. If someone wants to completely stick to a style, that's fine with me. If someone mixes different influences, that's suddenly a bad thing?

IMO alternative fashion (or let's just use the term "dark stuff" because you know, it's a lifestyle not a fashion fad etc etc) is very much about expressing yourself, thus combining different styles into your own should actually be a good thing. Or at least something to be 'tolerated'/ignored by others, not bashed.

Well, in a perfect world it also might just be. ^^

i don't understand fashion boxes so i just throw together whatever i think looks cool or that i want to wear

some of it fits into the established groups, some of it doesn't

sometimes i just end up fighting the power without even trying

I don't even know anything about fashion except that socks with sandals is bad and only a lucky few can make plaid on plaid work. Otherwise I just try to wing it.

what even are music genres

i mean seriously

if you're gonna stick things into sections, keep the sections clearly labelled and easily distinguished

and also don't change their definitions every five years

i don't even know what kind of music i like

some of my music is happy, some of it is sad, and some of it is 'indie rock', whatever that means

because many indie rockers don't seem to be indie, and that's confusing

Ugh. Indie now seems to be. "We don't know what to call it genre"

i think it's just a catch-all for 'it isn't on the radio very often' at this point, actually

*nods* That's the way I normally deal with it, too.

Socks an sandals can work, though - it it's cute frilly socks and girly sandals, not tennis socks and trekking sandals. 'though, if people want to wear that I certainly can't nor won't stop them.

And this is why I usually only refer to the great "top genres" or whatever they should be called; so just stuff like "Metal" or "Industrial" (though, there I do have to differentiate between Industrial Metal and Electro-Industrial, 'cause they're nothing alike), and not "Post-Modern Symphonic Power Melodic Opera Metal" (exaggeration). ^^"

...then 90% of what I listen to would have to be Indie, but it certainly isn't. xD Unless you include Internet radio in your definition, which I am not sure about so I'll just assume you didn't. ^^

I'm in the same boat on the 90%, and I shouldn't be, because a lot of the stuff I listen to shouldn't really qualify as 'indie' and yet it still ends up getting that heading. :P
