I've got almost the opposite reaction. I would be working on some sort of photo manipulation or some kind of digital painting and I would need a reference which I otherwise can't find online. Then I'd have to find the thing in real life and I just think to myself, "Ugh, well it's for a reference. As soon as I've taken the picture I'm done." I end up having to convince myself to just get the reference done because I normally don't like taking pictures.

Well now, in the distant future, when people talk about your life as a thing of that past, your reference pictures will always exist as a perfect response to "pics or it never happened"

So that's a plus

I... am not entirely sure how to respond to this. Being at peace with the way I look is something I've been struggling with for a long time. But then again, it's the body and face I am inhabiting, so I'd better be okay with that. I guess.

MoCs can be a good reference as well, especially for things like perspective and stuff. ^^

(not always as much for proportions, but that really depends on the MoC)
