Something That Irks Me

Previous comment in my blog that I thought deserved its own entry for a response.

Also, in the "Da stats" section, it seems kinda cocky, over-confident, shallow and self-absorbed to have yourself as a "Great of BZP", as it would be if I put myself in if I had a blog. Consider this. Do either of us have a +1,2,3,4 or 5 proto? No. Have either of us changed anything on the site dramatically? Not really. Omi, Raka, Exo, Spitty, Niki, BD, and likely the others(Never heard of Biomech or Teox,) have. You wouldn't deserve it, unless that communist BZP thing goes through, and I wouldn't deserve it, as honoured as I'd be.

First of all I suggest that anyone who thinks I'm being egotistic go read up on sarcasm. Next, I would like to point out that I have +2 proto. I would have +4 but the staff lack a sense of humor.

However lets stop talking about whether or not I am considered a 'Great' here on BZP and discuss what irked me the most in this comment.

Do either of us have a +1,2,3,4 or 5 proto?

I would like to point out one of the things that I personally hate on BZP and in my opinion should be done away with. The proto system. I am about to state a fact so important that it needs its own paragraph and bold text. It's such a common misconception I believe it needs this sort of treatment.

You should never, EVER judge someone because of their proto.

Take those words and engrave them in your heart. Judging someone because of their proto is just as bad as racism. Proto reflects nothing on the character of a person. A person can be just as wicked as a person with +5 as a person with -5.

That said I do believe we need to go over what it means to be a 'great' here on BZP. Dictionary.com defines great as " notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding." Thus then in order to be a great here on BZP in my book all you have to do is merely participate in the community with meaningful posts (not that hard), be able to reason your points reasonably and logically, and give back to the community in a meaningful way. It has nothing to do about how dramatically you change the site or how many people recognize your name.

Sorry if I came off as a little standoffish. It's just been something that's irked me for awhile.

It's like judging someone because of their money. "Oh he's so smart because he's so rich" news flash: Smart people are POOR because they don't have the money to show that they're smart duh

So apparently were both poor. ;)

Now for my response to your blog post. I don't think someone with -4 proto is necessarily bad. Heck, I have someone on my friends list who has -4, and an old friend was banned for dupe accounts. I have nothing against people with low proto. It does however, in a way, note someone's notable performance if the staff award them with proto...unless they bought a bunch of permier memberships. Those are, if I am correct, how you got both this blog and your proto.

I haven't seen many of your posts lately, so I did not know whether you had positive proto. You haven't seemed to have done anythign wrong, nor much the staff would award Proto for, so I assumed yours was 0 as well. My apologies.

No offense, but I haven't really seen you do anything "Notable; Remarkable; Exceptionally outstanding". The Communism thing throws it your way in my book if you can get that done, but until then, I haven't really seen anything to push you into the definition of "Great" yet.

Again no offense meant, but, as funny as your edits have been, I really haven't seen you "participate in the community with meaningful posts, be able to reason your points reasonably and logically, and give back to the community in a meaningful way", as you phrased it.

The only thing proto represents is how devoted you are to getting it.

Haven't done anything noteworthy? I am one of the very few people on BZP that understands the worth of constructive criticism and actually takes time to give it. Works and school have made it so that I can't give it as often as I like, but I can still perfectly capable of dishing it out as well as taking it when it comes to criticism.

Where have I participated in the community with meaningful posts? Let's start with where I haven't. The only BZP Creative Outlet forums where I have not made any contributions are the Fan Created Games and Bionicle Games and Trivia. I have made meaningful posts in the BBC, Artwork I,II, and III, and the RPG forum. I occasionally contribute to new member Q&A.

You've never seen me argue my points reasonably and logically. I had a three page debate going with Omi on communism, something that normally degenerates into flaming. Once again, I had a meaningful debate with Omi on why people 'hate' him. I am more than perfectly capable of holding my own in an argument and I've proved it several times over.

As stated before I have made huge contributions to the major creation forums. If you have any doubt on whether or not I'm not concerned with the community, just look at my how to comic subsection. I'm trying to improve the one section on BZP that needs it the most (next to comidies and NMQ&A.) BTW, expect an update on that this friday, yes that is a deadline.

if thats the case then there are plenty others besides them that contiute positively.

I am incapable of being aware of the actions of all the members of BZP. I praise what I can see.

I'm just going to step in and say I dislike people who buy three Premier Memberships, cause Hate is a strong word.

And another thing: I've been at +4 proto before and I'm sure several people here know why I'm not there anymore.
