I Am Leaving Bzpower

I can almost count the numbers of how many readers clicked that title. After reading Good Bloggers, an entry about me of course, I decided to write another entry about getting that extra piece of stardom.

I mentioned this before in my Pimp Your Blog entry, but I wanted to say it again. A good way to grab a reader is with that grabber. A grabber means to catch the attention of something. When used in writing papers as such, the grabber is the title of the paper and the first paragraph, more specifically that first sentence. When it comes to blogs, I just need the title, because if you clicked to read this entry, I already gained that view from you (and I assumed you have also read part of the entry).

When you want to grab that read, have a title that will have the person say "this is interesting". Having entry titles with things like "My Life", "Hello", "I Ate Cheese" are really boring. Spice it up a bit with things like "My Depressing State of Adventure", "Greetings For the Umpteenth Time" and "I Starve Myself By Eating Cheese".

As Dane Cook would say, put yourself in danger and the person will start to focus on you instead of something else. When used in this sense, just exaggerate the title. Make your title catchy.

Yeah, this is always the biggest challenge to overcome (after getting an idea and having free time, at least) for blog entries. I always wonder if I would have got more readers if I'd named that entry something different. Even slightly diff.

Guys, calm down. Omi was trying to prove a point -- that an interesting title makes you think "What's this about?" and want to click it. :) He wasn't "tricking" you -- it was a joke. :) Once you read the entry, you see that, so how is he tricking you? And doesn't his point make sense?

I knew you were going to pull a fast one on us. Doesn't make sense to put work and work into this site like you do and then just leave.

Catchy titles are always good, but make sure the content is also worth something. Like, for example, if every blog entry involves you leaving BZP, I might not check up on them. :sly:

Ah, yeah, I probably would anyway.

Oh boy, I thought you were serious. I don't think BZP could be the same without you Omi, but you definitely have a point.

Hey bones, don't look now, but I think they were kidding too.

Why do you change your name to Volar when you leave the staff, and then back to Omicron when you go back to staff anyway?

Volar is my alias on other sites, on the radio, and IRL (people actually call me that).

I go back to Omicron cuz its pretty much the name recognized by members. It is somewhat mandatory to have my name switched back to it.

Omicron, why exactly did you delete my comment?

Take a wild guess.

Possibly. There is no indication of it in their posts. ;)

Your entry disappoints me: it doesn't match the title. And you got my hopes up and everything. :P

Considering no one can see passed the title without clicking the link, it's all you have to work with from a starting point.
