Adventurer Posted July 1, 2008 You're the one using the imperial system still. You're the one using the metric system! ....Which is easier to use and more commonly used around the world. Link to comment
Kiotu Posted July 1, 2008 You're the one using the imperial system still. You're the one using the metric system! But the metric system makes so much more sense... Length: Compare... 10 millimeters = 1 centimeter 10 centimeters = 1 decimeter 10 decimeters = 1 meter *skip a few* 1000 meters = 1 kilometer to 16 semi-inches = 1 inch ( I think it's semi-inches...) 12 inches = 1 foot 3 feet = 1 yard 1760 yards = 1 mile 1 mile = 5280 feet 3 miles = 1 league Weight: Compare... 1 gram = 1000 milligrams *skips some* 1000 grams = 1 kilogram *skips some more* 1000 kilograms = 1 metric tonne to 16 ounces = 1 pound 14 pounds = 1 stone (not used in the USA often) 2000 pounds = 1 ton And then there is measurements of volume... Which I won't list due to time... I like the Metric system more, and I've grown up using both ( I've lived in both the USA and Australia), but I guess it depends on how you grow up... The Metric system is a lot easier to remember though -K Link to comment
Adventurer Posted July 1, 2008 The metric system is all based on one number. 10. The imperial system is crazy being based on a trillion different numbers. Link to comment
Lhilertoro Posted July 1, 2008 I don't like the imperial system. Isn't July the First the start of a financial year or something? Kiotu: You live in Sydney? Link to comment
Zeddy Posted July 1, 2008 I know Australians are backwards, but really... QFT. EDIT: I use the metric system, so HA! Link to comment
