It's an alternate universe, and by the situation set up in the Kingdom where the world is dying with varying degrees of speed, having them considering going into space so that they'll have anywhere to live at all makes perfect sense, and you'd have to wonder what kind of crack they're on if they aren't at least thinking about it. Especially with Nuparu hanging around.

We don't have the Toa going completely nuts and fascist on everyone, but that's what they did in Dark Mirror. We can have the people of the Kingdom hopping through space searching for somewhere to colonize and it has absolutely nothing to do with anything that happens in the mainline story.

I was more excited by the fact that they're making something with a lot of explosive power.

Nuparu is really the only BIONICLE character awesome enough to build a rocket.
