Bionicle And Bzp

I get a lot of questions about when BIONICLE will end, and I see a lot of topics on here about whether BZP would survive its ending.

Well, all things end, eventually -- it might be a year or five years or 20 years or 100 years, but everything ends. But as someone who loves BIONICLE as much you do, I will give you some free advice:

On the day it does end, assuming it is a time when you are still into it -- don't give up on it. Keep building models, writing stories, making theories. Someday, when the line ends, you guys will be the keepers of the flame, just as Star Trek fans were and Star Wars fans were (very few people remember that in 1991 Star Wars was considered a "dead license" -- it was the fans who kept interest alive until new books and movies came out). Never let anyone else's decisions -- not mine, not LEGO Company's, not anyone's -- dictate whether you maintain your interest in something you love. Don't walk away from BZP, which may be the place BIONICLE lives on for years after its "official passing." And from this one site on the web and others like it, who knows, perhaps someday a new universe will grow.

Hopefully, this is not something any of us will have to worry about for some time to come -- but I thought it was important to say.

This entry is Truthiness!

I remember when star wars was a "dead" thing before the special edition was released. Now its alive and booming again.

I feel that Bionicle will end up with the same thing if it was to end. Fans are what keep the line alive even now as Lego produces the sets. There is a good story behind the line, and I look forward to seeing what the new story will be about. (Thanks for keeping up with the writing Greg! You Rock!)

I will always be a fan of Bionicle, even if the line happens to die. Its a fun system to build with, and allows me to build the creatures I have always wanted to make.

This entry needs to be taken to heart by the members of BZPower, because its the dedication that fans have that will keep Bionicle alive!

I think BIONICLE has the story potential to go on for a long time... BTW, If you are reading this Greg, your inbox is giving me problems, I've tried to send the same message 5 times with no avail, even when I deleted an older PM that cot buried...

My inbox is full, that's why -- I got a couple hundred PMs while I was in Denmark, and had no online access, and I have not had time to get through them yet.

And yes, story potential remains huge -- but story is not why the line would get cancelled, it would be set sales. That's what decides it.

Yeah, thought so. If I were you, I'd set myself to turn the PM off for a while, until you get through the mail (You have a week off, then you get swamped with mail, it may take a while to get back to normal...) Anyways, I think that BIONICLE could easily come back if cancelled in a movie format. Transformers was still an active line for Hasbro for a long time, but it wasn't really a hit again until it was re-worked into a movie, with special effects. BIONICLE has the potential to make an amazing movie, as it's one of those things that won't seem so weird in the future, unlike many other lines similar to it. I firmly believe that this is due to the Mythology elements, that have appealed to readers since their conception before the dawn of civilization.

We the fans will keep Bionicle alive for as long as we live and love it, Greg when the product line ends, do not stop writing, you still will be to us the people who love Bionicle's be the father and the only person who truly makes what is canon and what is not.

Just keep doing the great job that you have been doing Greg!

I hope I can follow your advice. Sadly, though, I tried the same thing with Exo-Force to little avail, so when the end of BIONICLE comes I may lose my motivation to keep writing, even if it does become so much easier when you don't have to worry about the progress of the story interfering.

So hopefully BIONICLE will stay alive for long enough that I find my own motivation, and cease needing to rely on the story for that extra push.

I just read this, and I hope it is true... With regard to Aanchir, Bionicle has more popularity than Exo-Force did, and has been going on longer without slowing down, so I hope it is able to stay alive.
