Brickcon And Other Fun Stuff
Just a random update on various things in the BinkLife.
- I'm currently in Seattle to attend BrickCon (formerly NW BrickCon) and hang with my posse. It's been a while since I've seen my AFOL friends in person, so I'm looking forward to it. I've been through the display, and the BIONCLE area is already set up, looks like Roa McToa's stuff... and somebody's been worshipping at the Church o' Cajun just a liiiiiiittle too much, methinks - but in a good way. Some amazing stuff there, and I'm sure there'll be lots o' pics.
- Working on three years of BIONICLE, somewhat in reverse order. I spent most of the plane ride working on 2010 stuff, and have been involved with that for a few weeks. (Before you ask - no, I can't say anything.) Then for the last month I've been furiously writing specs and getting things going for 2009. The spec for the web site is basically done, and the game is being worked on as we speak. Speaking of the game, I had a chat with the people doing the 2009 DTV movie this week, and it looks like there are some very, very cool prospects for, as we say in business, adding synergy through cross-integration opportunities. I have high hopes for this game. And of course I'm finishing up 2008. I still have a few things to take care of (like getting the game into local languages on the country websites), and create the final 2009 teaser for release in mid-December.
- Budget reconciliations and forecasting are giving me ulcers.
- Headed to Enfield next week to work on an integration project having to do with the Kanoka Club. Hopefully you guys will like the end result.
- Fair warning and a heads-up: for 2009, as Greg has mentioned, we're starting fresh. That means the BIONICLE.com web site, too. Older content will be taken off the servers, specifically the older games like MNOLG, MNOLG2, Stop the Morbuzakh, and so on. Anything older than 2008 won't exist on BIONICLE.com, but we're working on a strategy to make it available elsewhere. So if you haven't gotten those games or songs yet, now's the time!
