The report compilation proceeds apace. I'm still waiting for more pictures in case I missed out on any shenanigans, but here's another tidbit, namely, the BZP Guestbook that I wrote up as per Black Six's BrickFair musings:

Twenty-one BZPers, including one who forgot his username. An impressive tally, verdad?

I believe that was implied by their decision to put all or part of their name down. However, if anyone objects, I will edit the objectionable part(s) out.

Hm. I should've just put the initial of my last name down. Would you mind whiting-out or editing the last five letters of my last name?

Y'know, I probably shoulda forced Lurwak to sign it.

Oh, and I don't mean to sound rude, but do you think my Mocs will get back to me any time soon?

You should have been there, Omi. It was a blast!

Brickcon doesn't really suit my fancy considering the timing and finances, plus the fact it being a small local convention.

Done, albeit a bit overzealously.

They're all packed, just awaiting a chance for me to get to the local post office.

I can empathize on the timing and finances, but unless your definition of "small and local" encompasses over 230 attendees, 7,000 public guests, and visitors from as far away as Israel and Billund all gathered for the West Coast's premier FOL convention, I disagree on the last point.

Ahem

We had 402 registrants (not counting the 58 confused public visitors who thought they had to register) and over 10,000 public visitors.

And Premier? Brickcon has been around for quite a few years.

Premier

adj.

1. First in status or importance; principal or chief: an architect of premier rank.

2. First to occur or exist; earliest.

BrickCon might not fit the definition of #2 (I'd have to check), but #1 most certainly applies. And I never said it was as big as BrickFair. Yes, it's smaller than BrickFair was, but smaller than BrickFair =/= small.

Brickcon dates back as far as 2001. Brickfest being the first Lego convention.

To me it is a small, local convention, considering the years previous it was known as Northwest Brickcon, signifying that it is a local convention. if it was large like Brickfest, Brickfair, or Brickworld, I would attend.

The 2008 Brickcon results you provided are synonymous with that of Brickfest 2004.

If you want to think of it that way, fine. I'm not asking you to go. I'll just point out, however, that I said the West Coast's premier convention. I am fully aware that others have been around before it, and I meant "premier" in the sense of definition #1 anyway. And yes, it was previously NWBrickCon. The old name could have implied geographic limitation, but it could also merely signify that it is held in the northwest part of the country, to differentiate it from all the other BrickX's out there. Just saying.

With Brickfest coming back, it won't be premier any longer. :P

Note on the BrickFair website there were only 400 and so MOCs. That's what unimpressed me the most compared to BF06 and looking at BrickCon photos. That's also why I spent most of my time with the BZPower folks. After a quick scan in the main room, and the castles, there was nothing else.

So I'm thinking BrickCon probably stole the cake this year. (Granted, we never hear about BrickWorld.)

BrickFest is probably one of the best because they were first (1999) so they have the name to back them up. In 06, there were 400+ attendees and they filled 15000 square feet. At BF07, there were 200+ attendees that filled up 30000 square feet. So I am sure everyone is going to have a good time at BF09 next year, lucky you guys.

Thanks. I actually only said the last five letters, but whatever. :P

Also, I was wandering around you blog, and this entry is just a joke, right?
