Thank you both Toa Humva of Alex and Nuju Metru for a well done debate. You both did a good job. :)

But now, post your comments. What did you think about it? Who do you think won?

Nuju Metru won by a slight hair. He shut down Alex in the beginning and Alex wasn't able to fully articulate a coherent response in time. He failed to mention all the advantages fire has against water and how water can be destroyed (if its molecules are heated to a certain degree they will split. This can be accomplished by fire).

Towards the end Alex pulled himself together but it was too little too late.

Sorry buddy, but I have to hand it to the opposition on this one.

Who won? Well, I haven't read the whole thing yet, I just skimmed.

But, personally, I would have been defending fire. I mean, sure, water can be a great disaster, but does it always hurt you? No. Fire on the other hand always hurts you [if you touch it]. Fire burns and destroys. That's what I think of when someone mentions 'fire' [either that or something that warms you up]. But, water always reminds me of life and birth. Yet, water is needed. You see, water could be used in reverse. If you take away water, that damages things. So instead of using water to destroy, don't use water to bring to life and destroy that way.

Yeah, that was just a little rant . . . sorry about that. :lookaround:

But, from what I read, both of you made very good arguments. Great job to both of you.

I shall comment later after I read the entry again.

How would one enter this anyway? Should I just PM you?

YESSSS!! :P

Nicely debated, Alex. You put up some good arguments, and it was a lot of fun to argue with you. :)

EDIT: Here ya go, JG...

For a great debate and awesome blog. :)

...I have got to make one of those.

Anyway, I'm not sure which I would've defended, though I would have added the sun as a reference earlier in the debate. The way I see it, both the light/heat from the sun and drinking water are essential to life, but if asked which influenced culture most, fire is definitely the winner. Modern culture relies heavily on machines that simply could not exist without fire. As for which is more destructive, both are equally so, in my opinion... but honestly, which would you prefer: a gentle death by drowning, or the blistering agony of having your flesh seared from your bones?

That's what I thought.

In summary, a great debate. Good job to both, the arguments were well-thought-out and excellently-worded.

It was a good debate, and I can't really decide who won. Therefore I vote 2004 :P

I'm just joking, but honestly Exo-fat and Nuju Metru, that was a good debate.

How did you guys get to debate? JG just randomly picked you guys?

I'm must be losing my touch. I thought we were still discussing the first debate.

I think water is a stronger element than fire, and this debate proved that to me. Therefore, Nuju won.

Meh. It seems no one can decide who won. That's a good thing. Both of us did a good job.

TZ, we PMed Jedi Gali, said we wanted to debate, then a while later, she came back, told us what we were going do. We chose our side, and then decided on a time. And then he had the debate.

I would have to say water won. I would vote for fire, but Nuju did a better job. I would give you a seal of approval, but I don't have one, so I give you the ROFL-copter:

I won. Light is a driving force behind everything we do, and therefore Light wins through me

Well. I like Water myself, and believe it had the stronger case made for it of the two. However, there was an admirable defense from Fire. It was narrowly won by Nuju Metru, I believe.

Huh, I totally missed this blog for a long time. It's like it disappeared! =O

Anywayz, yes. You guys clearly did well in English class. =P

Hmmm . . . Tough choice. I just skimmed, and I thought that Nuju Metru probably won. Alex had a couple of big flukes, and Nuju just stayed calm, debating rationally. Sounded to me like he really thought things through. I liked the mentions on both sides of Mythologies; that was a good way to bring everything into perspective.

However, I would like to point one thing out (and it may already have been mentioned, again, just skimming): The Sun is NOT a ball of fire. There is no oxygen in space, so the Sun is not fire; rather, it is a ball of gas, fueled by nuclear reactions.
