Meta Knight unwittingly stepped straight into Donkey Kong's trap. Pit and Mario, aware of his tricks, were likewise repelled.

Okay, so back before Brawl came out, the teaser trailer featured a ton of new characters, then went to some communicator thing. Someone was talking to Snake, and then in the end the guy said, "Where are you right now?" and Snake said, "I'm on reconneissience duty." At that point it switches to a Smash Bros. battlefield, and you can see fireballs and stuff shooting by. In the center is a cardboard box with the Smash Bros. symbol on it. Then the other guy was like, "Reconnessience?! Of what kind?!" and then Snake said, "Knowing your enemy is the quickest path to victory." Still zooming out; now you can see Mario and Kirby and Link beating each other up. Suddenly, Snake comes out from under the box. It zooms in on his face, and he says, "It's show time!"
