Actually, I agree, probably because basically there's been a ridiculous excess of repetitive Jackson coverage across Australian television for the past week, yet for obvious reasons there's been nothing about Mays here. That, and I'm actually more partial to Mays's work than Jackson's. :P Also, if I remember correctly, Jackson had been in less than good health for quite a while, hence lessening the shock slightly (indeed, just days before his death, I swear I heard something on TV about him having skin cancer).

It sucks 'cuz its like "OMG OMG OMG MICHAEL JACKSON DIED", "OMG MICHAEL JACKSON HAD LOTS OF PILLS", "OMG MICHAEL JACKSON HAS ALMOST NO HAIR", "oh yeah billy mays died", "OMG MICHAEL JACKSON HAS DEBT", "OMG MICHAEL JACKSONS IS 125 POUNDS", "OMG MICHAEL JACKSON HAD DRUGS".

same here, I don't really care much for michael jackson though I'm still a little bit sad he died. I was really sad when billie mays died though.

Same. People are only really sad because Billy Mays had hit (or was close to hitting) the peak of internet popularity. If this had happened even a year ago, or even a year from now, people would feel different. Life's funny, neh?
