I never knew Pokemon tried to make business.

Yes. Yes they do.

At least, they do in the TBRPG I'm working on.

I couldn't think of anything positive to write in Luvdisc's profile.

"Honey, I feel like this marriage is going nowhere."

"You're right. We never should've listened to that Luvdisc..."

Precisely.

You can get Heart Scales from Luvdisc. Which would be useful if you didn't get a billion Heart Scales in every Gen III/Gen IV game without even trying. <_<

I use Ditto all the time. Awful for battling, but for breeding, that's another story...

Plus, at least Ditto has some novelty, what with it's signature move, Transform. Luvdisc might be better at battling, but it doesn't stand out for any real reason; it's just a heart-shaped fish.

I think Feebas would beat Luvdisc in battle.

Here's a quote from a Pokemon strategy site I like to visit:

Rain Dance "Sweeper"

Such a load of potential here. First off, use Rain Dance to double the only stat that Luvdisc doesn't need a boost in. 95 base power with the boost from STAB and Rain Dance sounds very powerful, and it would be on any other Pokémon. Ice Beam is for all these Grass-types that have way too much Special Defense to hurt anyway, but I suppose I just like the words "It's super effective" on your screen. Toxic shows off Luvdisc's amazing stalling power with 43 HP, 55 Defense and 65 Special Defense, but Hidden Power Electric is there if you're afraid of Pelipper or (God forbid) a hostile Luvdisc!

Enoyer

Watch Luvdisc stall out his opponents with his amazing total of defenses not even topping 170. Confusion and Attraction together equals a 25% chance your opponent has to wait one more turn before Luvdisc is turned into a pile of heart juice, Protect is another turn, which means that Toxic might inflict a little damage in the meantime. If you're lucky. Aqua Ring can be used on this set. Just kidding, of course.

F(l)ail

Your third move is here to add more speed should you run into one of the three or so Pokémon Luvdisc should ever face that actually outspeed him. Get to 1HP somehow and start Flailing. Safeguard prevents you from being statused (because such a tank as Luvdisc is obviously going to get Toxiced and all...), or you could use the Water moves and hope to make a use out of Rain Dance and actually hurt Rock-types like Sudowoodo. If by hurt you mean tickle.

Other Options

Charm turns Luvdisc into a very sturdy physical wall that can survive two Caterpie Tackles and force it to switch out.

EVs

So many options here. Always max out an attacking stat for Luvdisc: you have the choice between a Modest 196 Special Attack or an Adamant 174 Attack. His Speed rarely needs help if you use Agility or Rain Dance, which means you get to fully exploit that 290 max HP more often than not.

Opinion

We'll take a generic Water-type, give it crummy stats EVERYWHERE except for Speed, give him a trait that doubles his Speed in the rain and the option to use Agility and call it a day. Luvdisc is great if you're playing with Battle Timeout, because its mere presence should cause your opponent to laugh at it for so long that you win the match.

Counters

Instead of listing Luvdisc's counters, I'll list here what doesn't counter Luvdisc:

I was just running on the hypothetical notion that battle was the reason they preferred Luvdisc to Ditto. I wasn't trying to say that Luvdisc was a decent Pokemon for battling, whether within the plot of the game or within the competitive metagame.

Huh?

I'm lost right now.

But for some reason I think I shouldn't be.

Well, Tradakk prefers Luvdisc to Ditto for some reason. I decided it was fairly safe to guess battling (I can't imagine what else one could use a Luvdisc for where it would be preferable to a Ditto). I wasn't trying to say that it was actually reasonable to use Luvdisc for battling, just trying to put myself in the other person's shoes.

Ditto can transform into luvdisc, so it can have everything Luvdisc has.

And this can be applied to any Pokémon. Therefore, Ditto is the best Pokémon. :D
