Or Perhaps A Wii Instead?

Takuma Nuva

So, I got to thinking, especially regarding Bade Titan's talking about gaming systems and Lady Kopaka's remark about holiday sales coming soon..

I'm thinking perhaps I'd postpone getting the Zune HD and maybe use the money on something the whole family can enjoy as a Christmas present. A Wii. Especially if it DOES go on a holiday sale. This is something I'm strongly considering...

Anyone have suggestions for particularly good family games besides Mario Kart and Brawl? If I decide to go with this idea, I'd like to be prepared.

Drawn to Life: The Next Chapter looks fun. I have the original Drawn to Life game, which was for DS, and it was great. The new Wii sequel looks even better.

Well, the LEGO games are always a great start. there's Super Mario Galaxy, which is a quite excellent game. And Super Paper Mario. And Mario and Sonic at the olympics. And the winter version. and MySims (Kingdom and Agents)

there are a lot of good family games.

While it's only single-player, I wholly recommend Legends of Zelda: Twilight Princess.

Multiplayer-wise, Lego games and Boom Blox.

Other than the Nintendo classics, , there's nothing too remarkable for the whole family other than generic party games.

There are, however, enough great almighty Nintendo classic-etiquette games to keep you guys busy.

Actually, I can't decide between a PSP or Wii. PSP is going to have Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep, and yet the Wii will have the almighty next major Zelda game...

Remember that we're talking about the Takuma Nuva, not the Blade. :P

Anyway, I'm afraid I'd be biased towards the Wii, but whatever. I'd recommend Super Smash Bros. Brawl and, dare I say it, Wii Sports Resort.

If you get a Wii, you have to download World of Goo.

It may be downloadable, but it is definitely within my top 5 Wii games. Please get it.

It even gets others involved, as you all brainstorm for solutions.

Get it.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii is shaping up to be an excellent family game. There are also stuff like Boom Blox Bash Party. Though be careful when looking for party games. So many of them are downright broken. I personally played Game Party (most generic game name ever), and my actions never matched what happened on screen. It's sequels seem no better either. (And it sold more than Metroid Prime. RAAAAGE.)

And yeah, what Tillius said about World of Goo. It's absolutely amazing.

Wii Sports is, and probably will remain, the favorite and most-played Wii game in my house, and it comes free with the system. :P

The Force Unleashed for the Wii, though graphically not the best, is actually really fun. I just wish that they were releasing the new levels on the Wii.

All of Zaxvo's suggestions are good too. Don't forget that you can get a Gamecube controller, memory cards, and games for the Wii as well. That opens up a full library of games that are great.

Just please get at least one other game. Too many people have only Wii Sports with the system. :\

Single Player:
  • Metroid Prime Trilogy

Well that does have Multiplayer too, but it's really not so great (though better on Wii), so I wouldn't recommend it for the Multiplayer. Plus they missed out on adding Wi-Fi. ): That aside, it's an amazing collection.
