Rahkshi Usb Flash Drive

Ever since NW BrickCon, where one of the Dirty Brickster gifts was a modified USB thumb drive embedded into a 2x6 LEGO brick, I've wanted to try playing with something like that. So, with all the good deals on personal electronics last weekend, I picked up a 512MB Flash drive for $14 - heckuva deal. It's pretty tiny, and came with a keychain and carabiner which I'm not going to use. The thumb drive itself, when removed from the external plastic case, was just a tad too big to slide into a hollowed-out brick, but then I remembered all the cool Bionicle pieces that might just work...

The result is my Rahkshi USB Flash drive. A few snips with an X-Acto knife (and some band-aids later), a squirt of model cement, and here we have it. It's tiny, just slightly bigger than a Rahkshi head. The blue eyes are a massive bonus, it's got a very bright blue LED on the board that shines out through the eyes and the hole in the top.

Below are some more pictures of the drive. The glue's still drying, but so far it's pretty sturdy.

For those interested, the drive is by Imation, and is on sale at Target for a few more days for $13.99.

Those blue eyes are pretty cool looking, look much more evil than the normal orange eyes.

A flash-drive for $14.99?! Mine cost $50!

I'm confused about something, if you made it how is it on sale at Target?

The Imation USB drive itself was on sale at Target, I cut it open and glued the guts into a Rahkshi head.

AWESOME! Man, Bionicle-fying your stuff is awesome. If they only did the Rahkshi logo as a pendant, or mad some other IT gizmos...

But, a nice little spurt of creativity there. Blue eyes are a definite bonus. ;)

NICE!

You know, you've gotta post some form of instructions on that... let all us AOFLs with knife action in on it.

Of course, I would definately not recommend it for the younger audiences :P -Swert

What Holla Black Girl said!(GASP! A reference to Staff Survivor!)

*jaw drops*

I want one.

Bink, that is easily the coolest flashdrive I've ever seen. As swert said, directions would be awesome.

I just went alookin' for the afore mentioned flash drive, the only match I could find was a pivotal 512M Imation drive for $29. Is that the drive you used?

I'm should probably buy one of those drives, cause sending emails to and from school is annoying, 'specially when the school internet freezes a lot.

You are my new god. :P

Hahah, wow! If I didn't already have this 2GB cruzer micro, I'd run to Target and snatch one of those just to try it!

Definitely the niftiest flash drive on the planet. ^_^

That is awesome. If I had money left I would pick up one of those to try it. But I spent it Christmas shopping for my family.

Although some instructions would be nice, so all us Bionicle nerds could make our own. :P

Your geekiness eclipses mine and drives it into the ground. Yay for Bionicle mods! Oh, and if you were to sell this or one like it, how much would it cost?

Haha! Thats wickedly ingenious, seriously, smartest idea any BZPower-er could have! I would make one, but I've already got my 1Gb Rundisk... Oh well, i get paid next week. I'll try it, with a different color maybe.
