Haha. Wow, that was fast. Well, here's my two cents: I think a DVD crew is neccacary. I also think they, in conjunction with the director, should be in charge of supplying the permission from Lego.

when you put up a new blog post nobody will be able to post here.

no. whats the point? just let people be able to download it off the home site then burn if they want :alien:

agreed. selling is definately not going to fly, and producing them for free is preposterously inefficient. I think just put it up for download and peeps can burn it themselves.

THis is an okay Idea, as long as it is free. If you start selling the DVD's, then the whole copyright infringement thing gets messy.

This is why i don't make a Fan Audiobook of any of the books. Because letting someone listen to the story for free will hurt the Book Prices.

As long as your not making a profit out of this, i see no reason not to.

@Skully, yeah, but if we give it for free we lose a lot of money.

We're not making money though.

Anyway I don't like the idea of selling DVD's of the project because...

1. It's illegal to make money off of a company that's not yours

2. Where are you going to sell them?

I don't think it's a good idea even if it is for free. If you give it to someone they might try to sell it and then we could get in some serious trouble. Also we're not going to get permission from Lego, even if you offer them half of the profit, most likely they're aren't going to make a deal with a unofficial company, or give them permission to use there products in something that you're giving out. It would be cool if they would let us but it's not going to happen.

We can't do that, we don't own BIONICLE. DVD's would be completely illegal unless we were giving it out free, and even then it may be illegal.

Not necessarily free. Blank DVDs cost about $1 so all we would charge would be that. Or you could send us a blank DVD and we would send it back with the movie on it.

EDIT: miy, if we were to sell them, I would not allow any profit to the movie makers at all. It would all go to...

1) Lego

2) BZPower

or 3) Charitable organizations

Again, we'd check with Lego FIRST!!! I don't want to get into a legal problem with them at all!

If that is what we will be doing, I have a DVD making program. It lets you make the titles and the scene selections and stuff like that.

It is called "Sony DVD Architect Pro 4.5".

I have iDVD.

I'm still worried about the legalities of selling and shipping 'em to people, though.

If we have them send us a blank DVD and we send it back with the video on it, there will be NO money involved (unless you count postage :P)

But Lego would have to agree with that profit as well and it getting the same amount as a fan site and charitable organizations would not be to convincing to them. Lets not forget though we're not professionals, if you got a diploma for animation then you could call yourself a professional. I just don't think Lego is going to agree to this.

What I meant by the list was it would all go to Lego, for example. I don't see much point in paying for it.

Oh so the DVD's would be for free, because that's the only way you could do it. But lets not get over our heads here, we should really focus on the project and after we're done we could do something like a in the making but I don't think it's a good idea to put it on DVD's and giving them to people.

Well that would be fine I think, you don't really need Lego's permission for that though, but I guess to be sure. You could also do the same for the movies maybe.

Plus, if you had us send you DVD's, wouldn't it be much easier to release them online, and people can just burn copies if they want to.

I mean seriously, the point of making DVD's is not such a good idea. Even if we sell them for the price of a blank DVD, there will be some legal issues. After looking at the posts above, I belive we should drop the idea all together.

Guys, I will just repeat what has been said before. You can download them and put it on a DVD, or if you have no computer room for a movie, ship a blank DVD to LK who'll put it on the DVD for you! Simple!

That's probably how it's going to work.

Don't worry, guys. You'll be able to download it for free. Compare this to the serials. Some people can't stand to sit at a computer screen and read a book and would much rather have a physical book in their hands. Some people prefer to watch movies on their TV rather than the computer. This will be free.
