  1. My little brother showed me that you can actually detach the figure's head, arms, and legs from it's body, so I guess Playmobil is trying to get the same level of customization as LEGO already has. But it is very difficult to put the figure back together once you've taken it apart, so obviously they still have a ways to go before they're as awesome as LEGO.
  2. Aah, so there's combo models for them. That'll be interesting. I like how they actually gave names to the planets that the villains went to.
  3. That's such a great analogy. And now that I think about it, you're probably right about the fact that they look the same is so that they catch people's eyes. That explains why they are the same shade of blue as series 5 minifigures, which are currently out at the same time as these 'series 1' Playmobil figures. My guess is if series 6 LEGO figures are in red (for example) packages, then Playmobil's figures will be in the same color of packaging.
  4. Well, My guess is that it probably would be something like the Furno Bike (except using the new system, which would be an interesting build), used by the Heroes to "bring extra firepower into the fight between good and evil" or whatever LEGO would say.
  5. I don't mean the fact that they're 'mystery figures' bothers me. I'm fine with someone using the same idea. It's just the fact that they're so similar is what bothers me. I just noticed that the packs even have a 'series 1' logo that's styled almost the exact same as the LEGO version in the top right corner. So, yeah, it's not the idea in general, it's the fact that they very closely resemble LEGO collectable minifigures in most aspects.http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Nuvaguy/Computer/comparison.bmpThat'll show you what I mean by 'it looks so similar.'
  6. I've looked over BZPower's rules and guidelines, and I'm pretty sure that it's OK to mention licensed companies, as long as it isn't advertising them. But, If I'm wrong, please tell me. Anyways, the other day, my little brother purchased something called 'Playmobil Fi?ures' (the question mark is supposed to be there.) It kind of bothered me how similar they were to the LEGO collectible minifigures line. They came in packages that showed the figures you could get from inside, but you had to guess which one it was. The bags are slightly larger but the same material and shape as LEGO's are, instead of the small cardboard boxes that Playmobil usually uses. Some of the characters you could get were the same, too, like the mummy, cavewoman, and soccer player (with a silver trophy.) The picture on the front even had the same silver outline that the LEGO minifigure packs do. The checklist that came inside the bag was very similar to the LEGO figures, as well. The only big differences were that they had a 'boy' series and a 'girl' series, and there were 12 figures in each series. I guess Playmobil saw how popular the LEGO minifigures were, so they tried making their own version. But I think they should've made it less obvious. Has anyone else seen these in stores?
  7. But what's with that grey arch at the top of each picture?
  8. So, next year's Ninjago sets are out in stores, and so are the Dino sets. Do you think that the new Hero Factory sets might be coming out soon?
  9. Agreed. It's kind of a win lose situation imo Yeah, but there is one exception by Deevee. It uses the red stripe on one of Corroder's stickers, but it's the only time I've seen something like this done. Also, anyone else notice the size 5 orange piece on Thornraxx's back? O:And really, even that was cut from the actual sticker, so it's not like too much creativity is involved there =P. I was initially hoping that maybe the Hero Core was inlaid on a small piece of armor that had the printing, but now that we've seen the Hero Core (and it was kinda obvious even before then) no such luck. I'd be okay with stickers, really. First wave had em, so why not? Definitely works with Splitface. On Iron Man's, the armor piece connected to the torso has 2 pegs, so the core, as seen in this, must have 2 pegs. Kind of odd if you ask me though But the detail stops at a certain point. I'm convinced by Splitface that there are stickers.Wait, Splitface convinces you that they are stickers? The designs on his torso seem way too small and intricate to be stickers. Plus, I see no margin between the designs and the armor itself. Unfortunately, I think it's printing, which is too bad since it makes the piece totally useless. They may be small designs, but they're most likely all connected to a bigger black (or gunmetal) sticker, like on corroder. I doubt that those are stickers. If they were, some would be pretty small, and in the stomach area certain stickers would be very tough to put on.
  10. Wow... There's hardly anything wrong with these at all! I honestly couldn't pick a favorite. They're all so dramatic and detailed. I think the choice of each background suits the picture it's in perfectly. With the picture of the Kraata, it looks like it just awoke or emerged from something. I really like the angle the second picture is drawn at. Good job!
  11. I always love paper masks. I thinks it's really cool how detailed they are and how accurate to the actual masks they can be. They must take hours to make, though.

    Random Art

Not bad. I like the art style used for the Toa. Can you make Onua, Gali, and Pohatu, though? And Tahu's eyes are spaced kinda far apart (in my opinion.) I don't think you're supposed to post artwork that's not LEGO-related here, but I'm not 100% sure.
  13. The picture isn't too bad for something drawn on an iPad. I like how the picture is very simple. And I've seen the 'Doodle Buddy' app before, so I know what tools you had to draw this.
  14. $4 for a collectible minifigure? I've never seen them sold in retail at that high of a price. Usually they are $1.99! Where'd you see that price? The retail price is $2.99.Oh, sorry. I was looking at the retail price of the older series (1, 2, and 3). Still, where'd you see $4? I've only seen a $4 price tag on a collectible minifigure at a vendor that I stopped at when I was at BrickFair 2011.Well, they're actually $3.50, I just rounded the price up to $4.00. And the place where I see them being sold for that much is Toys 'R' Us. They used to be $2.99, but the price was raised.LEGO sells them for $1.99 or $2.99, depending on which series. That's odd that Toys "R" Us sells them for that price, because they have it for LEGO's price at my local stores. What series is it that is charged for that price? I was being charged that much for series 5 (A few days after they came out.)
  15. The Aztec warrior in series 7 is really detailed, especially his helmet! I also really want to get that wind-up robot. I think that series 6 and 7 are the best two series yet. Does anyone else get reminded of Vladek when they see that black knight?

  17. I had seen the series 6 pictures before, but I certainly didn't expect there to be series 7 pictures yet! I'm really glad LEGO came up with this idea, though. It gives them a chance to make minifigures that don't fit into any of their themes. I think my favorite one of all time is the Gladiator. The only downside to these is that they're a little pricey. They're 4 bucks in Canada!
  18. There was a number of really great MOCs for this one. In the end I voted for entry 4, but Behemoth is my second choice.
  19. I voted for the Fire Drake. There's just something about it that I like.
  20. Hurray, the forums are back! Now I can change my avatar and signature. The new look will take some getting used to, though.
  21. Well, My very first sets were Meltdown and Xplode (bought them at the same time), For 2.0 sets, the first ones I got were Jetbug and Nitroblast, and then I bought Raw-Jaw and Waspix first for the 3.0s. As you can tell, I like the villains. And I finally get to make my 100th post. The forums went down right after I made post number 99.
