  1.

You just need to be online at night. With few people online it seems as though guests are simply looking for action and will just follow whoever appears to be doing something.

    ~Soran

I usually am online at night, and the only person who does anything with me then is Jakura. Ah, poor, tolerant Jakura...

Also, you don't seem too strange to me. Just the right amount.

    .__.

    The right amount of strange.

I have literally never heard anyone say that about me ever.

It's always good to be strange in some way, just not too much. Think about most stories, most inventors, comedians, scientists, philosophers and scholars. For the most part, a lot of them can be considered strange, especially during their time period. Whether that "strangeness" about them leads to an invention, a new viewpoint, a new act, or even an interesting story, it's the strange things that make a person unique and entertaining.

    Consider it a compliment.

  2. Gee, I... uh... hm.

I guess nothing? I mean, I get a lot of big-scale stuff that ruins my day a lot, but barely anything commonplace and definitely nothing noteworthy. Wow, Soran, these blog posts are really making me think. Keep it up.

I always think it's interesting the responses people give to questions. Some questions are things that people can instantly come up with an answer for while others require some thought.

Since I try to make sure that I answer my own questions I ask it also gives me time to think about as well. There have been some questions I've come up with where I just couldn't come up with an answer so I just wouldn't ask it. I'm glad you're enjoying them.

  3. -Stained Glass Pahrak

    -Pahrak III.7 HD ReNAME

These two sounds like a mouthful.

    -Sinnoh Slizer

This one sounds super catchy and rolls off the tongue the best.

    -Professor O’Pahrak

This one sounds the most sophisticated.

    -Pearl Pahrak

This one sounds okay. Doesn't really stand out compared to the others but perhaps that's what you want.

    -Pearlrak

    This name sounds entertaining.

    -Bird Mom Pahrak

    Wat.

My vote is either Pearlrak, Pearl Pahrak, Professor O'Pahrak, or Sinnoh Slizer.

  4. :kaukau: Yeah, I've been stalked before.  I don't really go into detail, since thee experience was unpleasant.

Anyway, that was quite a few guests.  Considering that BZP isn't what it once was, I'm pretty impressed.

    Understandable.

There was about 250 guests online so it was roughly 1/3 of them. I'm curious if you know what it was like in the past. I don't actually remember the number of guests that were online in the past.

    I don't get followed much

I guess I'm just too strange

  5. Are we ignoring Lego? We're totally ignoring Lego, yeah?

I find 'childish' a dumb term, 'cuz, y'know, I'm an adult now, I get to decide what grown ups do.

    So.

    • Coloring.

I ran a coloring club at college. With crayons. And silly pages. Was great.

    • Candy.

    I mean, duh.

Yep, totally ignoring the obvious LEGO or BIONICLE.

I find the term to be pretty silly as well, I just couldn't think of any other term to really articulate what I was asking. I mainly went with it since it follows the stereotype and it was shorter than saying, "Child-like" (I already had to shorten the title of this entry.

Those are definitely some interesting ones. The coloring club is a pretty neat idea, was everyone given the same pages or was it one of those, "Bring your own."?

  6. I would say that it depends on the setting. Certain restaurants require a name for a meal so she could've simply been following proper protocol.

Her mention of seeing you there could've been a friendly banter. If it was a restaurant that features waiters or waitresses then one could assume she was simply working for tips.

Once again, her giving her name could simply be restaurant protocol since it gives the impression that the employees are more personable.

Now what's listed above is the obvious doubts. Now for the other way around.

She started a conversation by blatantly revealing that you've left an impression on her and that you're memorable to some degree. It sounds as though she then tried to get on a first name basis with you (which if you're thinking positively would mean that she's clearly interested in getting to know you).

I'd say that with the details you've revealed it could really go either way. If you're interested in pursuing her it would be best to do so casually and not make a big deal about it. Since you go to this restaurant often, you could simply be honest with her and tell her that you're interested in taking her out. Then simply leave her a note with your number and tell her that if she's interested then call. If not then don't call. Simple as that.

Of course if you're not interested in pursuing a relationship with her then just go about your day.

    Good luck,

  7. Drop it into an ETF and ignore it for ~6 years. Maybe 7 and pay off the house. Then live off the proceeds of 1.5 mil (50-60k/year, inflation adjusted, no mortgage) for life. Work on what I please, for money only if I feel like it.

Are we worried about taxes, here?

Let's say in this theoretical situation that you don't need to worry about taxes.

  8. Foresight seems like a really bad/unworkable superpower, because the future always changes. Then you'd see every possible end to a decision, and your mind would overload.

You're correct if you view the future as always changing. But if you view the future as a set timeline, one that revolves around the concept of fate (where as things are fated to happen) then you're simply predicting what's to come in the current timeline you are a part of. It runs off of the same principle as Time Travel, where there's various forms of it that are each unique upon themselves and can often clash with each other's theories.

  9. Well. Definitely dark, although it's still pretty good despite the stanza

Also I can't think of anything else but a super 2spooky Soran ghost in a lei with a tropical hat

    Thanks.

I mean, if he can wear a Ghost of Christmas Present outfit I'm sure he can wear one of those.

:kaukau: I relate to this.  While I'm not suicidal, I do feel that life can be aimless and pointless at times.  It's like whenever something good comes about, it was never meant to last, and that the present always consists of bittersweet memories.  I also relate to the forced smiles when people are watching.

My kneejerk reaction is to interpret this "other person" as a romantic interest.  Personally, I try to avoid interpreting it that way, because I try very hard to not care about those things, although I have been depressed in the past for a lack of romance in my past.  Because I'm so protective of myself in this area, I relate more when I interpret your poem as being about a person who has drifted apart from his friends and now has nobody in his life.  That's a pain that I haven't built up a defense for, and I'm a weaker man now for it.

    24601

I definitely wrote it with the intention of having it be relatable to some degree.

I'll admit when I was writing the poem, the intention was to have the "other person" that was referenced by the poet's romantic interest but I left it purposefully vague as I was writing the poem so that it could be relatable to most other situations. So the main character's gender isn't revealed, neither is the "other person's". Aside from mentions of love being a desire in one's life there isn't any actual romantic elements included in the poem. It simply seems like the separation of two people resulted in depression and eventual suicide. So you're spot on with your interpretation of it as it really relates to what the core concept of the poem is about; the loss of someone(s) of importance and having nothing in one's life to live for.

  10.

I try to wear a mask of positivity.

Sadly, though, only an Akaku fits

    More like an Avohkii.

No, like, I grew up as a depressed gay fat kid who was being bullied for his plus size and fearing other forms of bullying. I was unpleasant to be around and I clashed with my friends growing up until we had a falling out and I made new ones halfway through highschool. Until that happened I was treated like the stupid fat comic relief characature of a friend because everyone else was trying to be cool and popular. My mental health got so bad in the past that I seriously considered self harm. To top it all off, I have zero motivation to better myself, I've convinced myself that good things will never happen and when they actually do go my way I'm such a pessimist that I think of a hundred ways something will go wrong so I can't even enjoy myself.

Or, well, that's what it was like. Things have been getting better, and I hope they still do, but stuff like that doesn't just vanish without a trace. I still struggle a ton with self-confidence and positivity, and it's very likely I will continue to do so for some time.

As for now, I'm kinda drawing a blank when it comes to a question like this. =/

Well that stinks, I'm sorry to read that that happened to you. You're right that stuff like that doesn't just vanish without a trace, often times it leaves scars on a person. But it's these scars that lead one to the crossroads of their life, for better or for worse. It seems though in your case that you're taking the road for the best, which is nice to hear.

Just from what you've said, here's what I can draw for an answer to the question. Tell me if any of these you feel works for you.

You seem to have a thick skin and are able to ignore undue and harsh criticism that may come your way.

You mentioned that you were more or less a comic relief, which means that you were at least funny. That's always a good trait to have, the ability to not let things go to your head and laugh it off.

Also by demonstrating that you withheld from self-harm and are trying to improve your mindset despite the setbacks that you may have shows that you have strong willpower.

At least, that's what I got from it. Regardless, I wish you the best of luck in your life.

  11. My modesty.

    (And my sense of irony)

Haha, I always love those ironic statements. Nice one.

I don't have one. The very fact that I can walk, talk, breathe, pump blood through my body, and lifts large amounts of weight is just as impressive as surviving nearly dying after getting torn apart and competing head-to-head with some of the top LEGO MOCists.

    So I don't know.

At least you've got options, so that's something. An interesting "problem" to have, the inability to measure ones abilities as being superior to another. I'd suppose that you would fit under modesty as well in this case.

    I have no idea.

As in too many options or not enough?

    nothing.

Well hopefully you'll find something. It's important to remember what defines you, it helps with goal planning.

    my writing, I suppose

You've definitely got talent in that department. Nice one.

    my persistence

That's an interesting one. Fun fact: Humans are known for persistent hunting, where they'll literally chase their prey until the prey dies from exhaustion. Seems like you've retained that to some degree, or you've just got great willpower.

Wow you guys are vastly depressing.

I feel bad for you sometimes, Soran. You're one of the most genuine people on the site; just trying to be nice. And everyone else is really edgy and empty inside. I notice that a lot on your blog posts.

I try to wear a mask of positivity. I like to see others grow, so despite what I may be feeling internally I try to put my best foot forward in all situations I can. It's a website, I literally control everything I post so why not make it positive and try to help people?

It's nice to know what each of you value about your person,

  12. Wow you guys are vastly depressing. I'm going to direct this message to specifically those who can't figure it out.

    ------

You seriously can't think of anything? You honestly can't think of your favorite part about yourself? Narrow it down to some questions then.

    1. What am I good at?

    2. What are some things with me that are different than those I know?

    3. What defines me as a person? Is it my hobby, my talents, my personality, what is it?

This question shouldn't be taken as, "What's unique about me," I'm not asking why you're a special little snowflake. Your favorite part of yourself could literally be, "I'm average." That is a perfectly acceptable reason to like yourself.

It can be the largest of things like, "I score high grades in every class I take," or it can be small things like, "I'm a naturally nice person."

Don't overthink things and more importantly, don't overlook yourself. There's clearly a reason you're living, so what is that reason? Is it because you have dreams you want to pursue? Is it because you're looking out for others? Or is it simply because you're alive and breathing air? All of these are prime examples of a "favorite thing" about yourself.

You've all got something to be proud of about yourself, even the smallest of victories can count.
