  1. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) "Down off of this mountain at the very least," I surmised, after a moment's thought, "I might be taking off somewhere else once we reach a decent crossroads" OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
  2. IC: Zelvin and Ash Lads (Charred Forest) Zelvin's melee with Torben was swinging in her favor. Her Scythe seemed to move independently of her hands, and Torben was thrown off by her sending it flying with her elemental telekinesis, to swing around and hit him up the back of his head with its spiked end. The Skakdi was made of tougher stuff than she had judged, however. His entire body already hunched forward by the swipe, he went with the flow and turned it onto a headbutt that Zelvin narrowly avoided getting right in her chest. Her arm and side flared up in pain with a curse past her teeth as she weaved out of the way of the Skakdi. He looked up, and his eyes lit up... Drabak released a pained groan as he buckled in response to the strike Jolek had landed on him. No question, it was a nasty blow. The Skakdi hunched, even dropping to his knees, the rows of spikes that made up his organic spine bristled like the pins on a porcupine... Hadn't Zelvin said he'd "had some work done" on that? OOC: @Razgriz @capMARVELOUS
  3. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "I'll be right back," I assured the clientelle, "Kreff, stand guard" The Ussal Crab whistled in the affirmative, and I disappeared into the back of the shop. For once not by way of grappling glove, though I wish. "Nearly done, you say," I answered as I made it over to where J. K. was sitting, "I had this idea. An air elemental is just the sort of person who could make this baby sing, don't you think so?" OOC: @Perp @Krayzikk @Snelly @sunflower
  4. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "That's all I needed to hear, just a moment." "Oi, Jokaro," I shouted, way louder than I needed to, "How's that prototype coming along?" OOC: @Snelly @Perp
  5. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) "I... don't suppose you've got room for someone else along for the ride?" A smile. An attempt at one, anyway.
  6. IC: Krex (Fort Garsi) Kirik would soon find himself joined by the resident demolitions expert of Fort Garsi. Krex had, after following Ipsudir back, stepped away from the conversation, and was currently playing with... something in her hands. Something that was at least a little bit round. "Tell me, Kirik," she spoke up, "have you ever done any tricks?" OOC: @Visaru
  7. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) "He brought the body. It was already dead after the two had gotten caught in the blizzard, they'd both be dead now hadn't they found this place" I said simply. It was mostly true, and I could stomach a white lie to put this whole affair behind me. "So where are you headed now?" I asked to change the subject. OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
  8. IC: Vilda Mako (Tidalpool Inn) I had heard loose bits and pieces of the local flavor of myth and faith before, but it was a far cry from this little history lesson. "Hmmpphh. Sisters who keep balance and brothers who are locked in conflict, if I had a dragon for each time..." It was almost tawdry how archetypical it sounded, but that's often the case with such ancient legends, or that which concerns the Spirits. They should never be accused of being too good for simple archetypes to play their part. "But from what I hear about Kentoku these days, and from how you recognize the description Cephala, it sounds like the danger is real enough. I have heard the word 'Maru' before, but I've still not gathered who that is, somebody important, I gather?" OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva) @Mel
  9. IC: Ferron (Papa Nihu Reef) "What do you want to achieve with meditation?" Ferron was looking over at Oliphko where she was sitting opposite him. The question was a little blunt, and the Turaga caught himself on it. "I don't know the answer to that myself, yet," he clarified, "I want to hear what you have in mind, it might help me get an answer to that question" OOC: @Daniel the Finlander
  10. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "Custom-fitted Wrist-Volo? Say no more" I responded, scratching down the note on an iStone I had fished up the instant I realized I might need to take a few of the aforementioned "note" to remember this stuff. With Jokaro busy, I could only nod with increasing interest as Krayn laid out his vision for a specialized weapon. It was nothing I couldn't do even with a hand tied behind my back. "You too? Of course," I answered the green Toa I had previously pegged as the fine connoisseur of the group, "We carry whatever we can get away with here, just don't tell the Akiri that." I responded, giving a wink to signify it was a good-natured jest and nothing more. Definitely. "Take a look over there!" I managed to shout in the Matoran's direction, pointing to a selection of containers that were indeed meant for loose storage of spare parts and bits and bobs and pieces and tidbits and titbits and whatever else could fit the definition thereof. "And about our selection... tell me..." I returned to regard The Green One, "would you perhaps be a Toa of Air?" OOC: @Krayzikk@Snelly@ARROW404@sunflower@Perp
  11. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) I looked over the revolver that I had graciously accepted without the need to be asked. Nodding in tandem with the Toa explaining his predicament. This was a customer after my caliber, a man seeking only the best implement of destruction. "Hmm? Aaaah, you refer to my little transport here" I surmised, waving the relevant arm to illustrate. "It's got the strength to carry just about anyone who should wish to use one, this is actually a large model. I like to be prepared for when I need to overcompensate. There was a time when a gentleman of your size would actually be too much. It took me a long time to put together a prototype for your size range. Dehkaz was there when it happened, actually. It was quite a day. I had just recovered a widget I'd thrown on the scrap pile by mistake..."
  12. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) Going through the laundry list of bizarre logistics that had gotten me into this situation wasn't something I wanted to do, so I just shrugged. OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
  13. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "Dibs! I got this" could be heard shouted from further inside the complex. A noice of some sort of contraption being triggered was heard next, and then the esteemed clientele saw the grappling hook shoot up into the room from said area in the back, and it forthwith disgorged yours truly attached to a zipline that sent him flying across the room and elegantly faceplanting the counter from which customers were usually to be served. Having gotten to my senses, and taken my spot I immediately addressed myself to the obvious enterprising star of the group, the green Toa who was already inspecting some of the hardware. "Madame, I can tell you've got impeccable taste. It is indeed very interesting, that's our trade and sole joy in the world, the means to make life interesting. It was then I realized that I actually recognized one of the number, and remembered how we had last met. Apparently I was beginning to build a reputation for appearing by Volo Lutu when people were after me. "Dehkaz!" I called out, throwing out my arms, including the one that still had a discharged grapnel attached to it, "we really must stop meeting like this" OOC: @Snelly @sunflower @Krayzikk @Perp
  14. IC: Ferron (Papa-Nihu Reef) Ferron reached into his bag, and his hand emerged from it with a lightstone fastened to a metal grip. He lengthened the grip to staff length with his powers, and led the way into the cave bearing the walking staff like a makeshift Turaga's Badge of Office. The sound of the waves had faded somewhat by the time Ferron sat himself down on a rock sticking up from the cave floor, jabbing his staff into the ground to let the Lightstone stand free to illuminate their surroundings. "I found this place a while ago. I thought it would serve our purposes today well" he explained simply. He was sitting with his hands on his knees, looking expectantly over at Oliphko. OOC: @Daniel the Finlander" IC: Wiremu (Ussalry Cart Depot) The cart that was carrying a selection of Wiremu's belongings safely (he dearly hoped), had made a brief stop right as they had arrived outside the cave that made up the underground portion of the Onu-Po Highway. From where Wiremu was sitting on the cart he could spot the beginnings of the great Po-Wahi desert not too far off. Where there had once been a simple Ussalry stable keeping the mounts fed and rested for the rare individual who made the journey from one Koro to another in a hurry, there stood now a considerably larger construction, making space to keep unmanned carts out of bad weather, and warehouses to have supplies ready for the number of people that went into keeping this new transport system operational. "Makes for quite a sight, don't it?" a voice perked up somewhere above where Wiremu was sitting looking at all the various stuff. He looked in the speaker's direction, instant recognition coloring his face as he spoke up. "Midak! Yes, indeed it does. I find it pretty impressive" The Ussal-Minder had not let time leave him behind. If anything it seemed like Onu-Koro's resident outsider (in a very literal sense) had made himself quite comfortable where he was sitting on the roof of his now two-story house, right in an ideal sunny spot and overlooking the proceedings. "Sure is. Pardon a feller for being a touch nosy, but if the Great Spirit isn't playing tricks on me I'd wager you're headed somewhere with that haul in your wagon." Midak was leaning against a fencepost, because apparently his roof had those, looking down at the luggage that was just now taking a break from scrambling around in the back since the cart had stopped for a moment. "Hmm...? Oh, yes, I'm... I guess I'm moving to Po-Koro for a while, Nuparu wants me there." "Ol' Nuparu's got a lot on his plate these days I gather," Midak mused, his expression appearing a bit absent-minded as he wasn't looking at Wiremu anymore, but instead gazing out over the horizon, "Would have liked to see him come up here to catch some of the Spirit's rays once in a while, you know?" Wiremu nodded wordlessly, before he spoke up with a bit of a halting tone "Well, I guess now I'm going to have plenty of opportunity to do so myself in Po-Koro, erm..." Midak looked back down at him, and nodded with a smile and a wink, "glad to hear it. Do enjoy yourself, and best of luck out here on the surface, I promise it ain't all so bad" Wiremu nodded again, as the Cart began to move once more... OOC: Wiremu to Po-Wahi
  15. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "Alrighty, one scavenged weapon's stock coming up!" I answered with jocularity matching that of my esteemed colleague. Or so I would have him believe at the very least. With newly scribbled note in hand I went back to my corner of the workshop. It was ultimately a question of preference. We weren't suffering budget constraints or strict regulations. Otherwise you can be most assured I wouldn't be working here. How exactly I went about procuring the weapon's wooden stock is best left to the imagination. Either way, I had one ready soon enough. OOC: @Perp
  16. IC: Trava (Pala-Koro) "That's a real big something alright" Trava quipped as she jogged back to the edge of the lake. Someone was underwater, and she fired up her Kanohi again. However it was wasn't entirely successful in going unnoticed. They faded in and out of vision, and with her sharpened eyes she spotted them swimming under the surface of the water. "Here!" she called to Kaelynn, pointing where she could spot their stranger. OOC: @Goose @Wotz
  17. IC: Zelvin and Ash Lads (Charred Forest) Jolek would get his wish. The twisted, gnarly branch he had thrown ahead of him as cover was sent flying back in his direction by another blast of Drabak's Impact Vision. It was about to hit him right back in the face aga- A sound like cracking glass rang in his ears as a glittering spike shot across his vision cone, taking the branch with it, shattered by impacting with a tree trunk. and leaving Jolek free to press on. Zelvin was coming up from the side. Her weapon back in full size as the scythe she preferred it to be. Chiaki's telekinetics were partially neutralized by tree branches reaching forward to catch the debris sent to target Torben, but it provided the perfect smokescreen for the old Crow. She got in close to the green-colored Skakdi, her polearm clashing with his as her crystalline grip grew a morning star at its other end. A branch came in and she whirled her weapon around in a swing to pulverize it, before completing the arc by parrying a swing from her opponent's weapon. Drabak was caught flat-footed by his counterplay being neutralized. His own sword was raised to meet Jolek's incoming strike. OOC: @capMARVELOUS @Razgriz
  18. IC: Vilda Mako (Tidalpool) "Zuto Nui and Zataka. It's who we pay our respects to when things go well, and get mad at when they don't, respectively" I responded with a hint of a smirk. "We believe they're two sides of the same drago-err... widget? Either way, they're both necessary, you can't have one without the other, is the idea" OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva) @Mel
  19. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) Karv deigned to get a little closer and give the Toa a sniff, which resulted in the Rahi giving him a look that only a Rahi-lover could hope to read. I think it at least meant he was going to behave. "Well, he seems to think you're a good egg. That's usually good enough for me" I offered, actually reaching out to shake his hand. "I got stuck in the blizzard and ended up here, then the Skakdi showed up afterwards. Not much more to it than that." OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
  20. IC: Trava (Pala-Koro) "Hmm? Oh, right, right..." Trava responded absently. She was still not super clear about what the deal with Pala-Koro was, honestly, she just knew she liked the vibe of it as it was right now. Trava looked over at the Toa, raising a brow in mild confusion. The Toa wasn't looking quite in her direction, she could recognize someone on the lookout. "You looking for something?" she asked. OOC: @Goose
  21. IC: Trava (Pala-Koro) "Just warming up!" Trava shouted back as she waded onto shore, shaking her grapnel-equipped arm. As good a time as any to find out how well the contraption handled exposure. She'd need it to if it was going to be at all useful to her. "I'm probably going to be around and in water for the rest of today anyway. I've got my job to do," she remarked casually as she headed into the village proper, "I've taken over one of the buildings here as a little personal space to stash things. It's not like anyone else is using 'em" OOC: @Goose
  22. IC: Vilda Mako (Tidalpool Inn) ::I'm not giving up hope just yet:: I remarked on the mental plane to Pradhai's comment about our dear old Toroshu. If she was in close proximity to these... creatures for an extended period, anything was possible. At least she wasn't here. Cephala seemed out of sorts, about as much as I felt but was keeping a lid on. "Kanohi Dragons," I explained, "magnificent, dangerous, ferociously powerful. A sight to stay with you for life" I exposited. I had only seen the creatures once, but meant every word. OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva) @Mel
  23. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) "It's not my greatest skill, I'll have to admit that much," I readily conceded, "but I've got more than just the basics down, too. I've got what it takes to shape wood for practical use, just don't ask me to carve an ornate wallclock. Or you could, by all means do if you think the result would be hilarious" OOC: @Perp
  24. IC: Mar (Obsidian Outpost) Joskander returned while I was in the middle of shoveling snow back onto the corpse now laid to rest. It would have to do, I was in all seriousness just glad to put all of this sudden hullabaloo behind me. It had left a bad taste in my mouth. "Alright," I spoke up, walking over to the Toa of Air after setting aside my shovel, "that was unpleasant, so I'm not going to dwell on it, or so help me." Karv sidled up next to me, sizing up Joskander with a curious look and flared nostrils. "Never got to introduce you two, I suppose," I spoke up, looking between Toa and Kavinika, "this is Karv" OOC: @Endless Sea (Alaki Nuva)
  25. IC: Farzan (Tech Emporium) Kreff scuttled over to Jokaro's spot without prompting, retrieving the discarded barrel before making his way back over to my corner, holding it up for me to glance at before I grabbed it and put it next to me at my workstation. Just needed a visual reference. The lathe spun up, holding the work element in place as I began to etch out the shape. Steady hands were a gift from the Great Spirit in times like these. The shape of the barrel was to be the same, just a difference of scale to work with the increased output that Jokaro's modifications had created. It was a fine balancing act. It couldn't be too thick or heavy, or the point about reducing the weapon's weight would be undercut. My tools worked intricate, deep grooves into the barrel, didn't just look nice, but shed excess weight and mass in an even distribution. One barrel became too long, another too thick, discarded in turn. The research notes drawn up by Jo were re-assessed, modified slightly, and then not so slightly in search of the right result. I pulled up one of my diskette pistols to regard in my hand as food for thought, before going back to it. When I was done, I took it up, pinched between finger and hand as I turned to where Jokaro was still sitting. In a moment like this, with an esteemed colleague hard at work, I had the sense to avoid some of my usual frivolity. I simply placed the finished result on the table next to him. "There you are, one fitted barrel made from scratch, as requested. OOC: @Perp
