  1. Anyway, the Volitak has a near-silencer effect, and less invisibility. You need to actually try to be stealthy for the mask to make you stealthy.
Ah, I wondered in what way the Huna could possibly be better. I thought they both made you equally invisible.
Why use an Arthron (Mask of Sonar) when you can use a Ruru (Mask of Night Vision)?
What if you were blind (and did not have natural echolocation)?
Ruru would not help you see through fog or smoke. Also it would be useless in the day. Arthron wouldnt be
  2. Before the Piraka the enemies had no actual personalities. In fact they were all swarms. Like the Rahkshi, Bohrok, Rahi, Bohrok Va, Vahki and Visorak. They had names but that was just they name of their "race". Why did Lego not do this at first. Were they to afraid to kill of main enemies so they created cannon fodder for the toa to kill? There was no "dsgjigjjpojsofjsfj" when you saw an enemy, just "Oh no, ANOTHER RAHKSHI". Would you have preferred the enemies to have personalities and be able to speak, to actually make a proper rival group to the Toa? I think the Rahkshi would have made a good team. All of them would be male except the white one(or whatever). They would be clever and cunning, and in some strange sort of way, you would feel bad if one died because you would have come to love know and love them as well. They would have had real personalities and problems just like the Toa, with good and bad traits. Im I tho only one who would have wanted that? But you know, we were left with cannon fodder, even the Piraka were kind of generic. The Barraki were okay and the Makuta were even better. Who wanted to see adaptive armored FLYING Rahkshi to fight the Toa Nuva? Me, thats who. It was a shame because when we saw the Makuta for the first time, we knew we were meant to feel something (and we did) but it wasnt like whay were felt when the Toa Nuva were back.Disclaimer: When I say "we" I dint mean to speak for you BTW, it just makes my speach sound better IMO

  3. Great news! The Kanohi list is now live!

    checklist_kanohi_small.jpg

I'd like to extend a huuuge thanks to Ballom and Swert for helping me with the Kanohi Nuva. Getting those done to a point I liked is what was taking so long before I completely forgot about this. :PA lot of these are actual set photos instead of stock photos, but I did my best to get as many of the latter as possible and at least make the ones of a similar theme look like they go together. I just hope nobody's confused by some of the organizational choices. I also left plenty of room for removing/adding any Misprints some people think shouldn't/should be there.~|ET|~

Your missing the copper and dark chrome ones of the Mata masks. I think thats it though
  4. So Onu matorans were the clever ones. I always thought that was Ko-matorans. Im so confused now.
What do you mean? Inventive? The Ko-Matoran are quiet, like to stare at walls and watch icicles grow. But they're just as smart as any. The Le were also inventors often in Metru Nui.
I always saw them as maths and science brains. Infact they I saw them as stereotypical nerd. Anti social, neat and organized, quiet and shy. Those sorts of things.
  5. I'm not sure I like your interpretation of Onewa as a bully. You've got to remember the masks were first chosen for them as Turaga because that part of the storyline came first. As Turaga a lot of them had very different personalities.
Werent the powers a bit different then?
They were weaker, noble Kanohi if that's what you mean, but they were the same basic powers, just not as strong.
Matau's was shapeshifting instead of illusion, though it was meant as an expansion of illusion power basically. But Onewa's was the same, yeah. Originally it was probably that he was a leader, perhaps with a hint of "control freak" although I didn't see that much in his Turaga portrayal. In 2004 he -was- kinda a bully. Not the truly mean type though, more like he enjoyed coming up with clever insults, that he might not have fully meant. :shrugs:
Yeh. I didnt mean he was a bad person.
  6. I dont think any "Element" in Bionicle are actually Elements in real life besides IronWater=CompoundAir=MixtureFire=Reaction state(?)Earth=Just...NoStone=Seriously?Ice=State of water(Compound)
"Iron" is just a poetic name for metal. The one thing it almost never includes is literal atomic iron, since the materials Toa control in the MU are protodermic versions of everything (other than Air), although they could make normal iron if they wanted."Element" in Bionicle means a basic aspect of nature or environments as seen by the people who established those powers, the Great Beings. We used to define it in terms of what is important to the Matoran in terms of their environment; hence Ice or Gravity or Psionics, etc. although now the same concept needs to be expanded to the Agori and suchnot on Spherus Magna too. Basically it's what the GBs thought the beings in question would need to focus on.It's not meant to be as specific as our modern definition of atomic elements. But it's a modern misconception that atomic elements are what the term "really" refers to. Originally it meant things like fire and earth and water; it was only recently when scientists began identifying different types of atoms that they needed a term to apply to it, so they repurposed or "borrowed" an old one. Modern language does that a lot. Think of words like tablet, nook, or web for example, that just in the past few decades or years have come to mean new things. That doesn't make the original meaning stop existing; it just adds to the list of words that are spelled the same but have different meanings in a dictionary, basically.
Ah, Thanks for clearing that up. I always thought they based it on the Greek elements(Earth, Fire, Air and Water)
  7. How is showing off pretending to be someone you're not?
I think he means trying to show off but faking it. Like Randy on Monk. :POr like Matau...Anyways, yeah, I think most of these do fit really well. I've often noticed a similar thing with the Toa Mata, haven't really thought to apply it to the Metru / Turaga Mata. The Mata ones are more obvious since they're closely tied to their elements, and their personalities were most like their elements.
I was thinking about the Mata and their Kanohi too, and I agree that most of them relate to the user's personality. However, I was a bit puzzled by Tahu and his Hau, as fire doesn't seem particularly related to a shield, and Tahu is generally an offensive fighter barring use of his mask.~B~
Did the regular Hau sheild others too? Any way. I think Tahu is quite defensive. He also tries to hide behind a shield but is easily got too. He is protective of his teamEDIT: I mean defensive when some one insults him. He lashes out in anger, not as in he is a defensive fighter
  8. How is showing off pretending to be someone you're not?Anyway, in-storyline there doesn't appear to be a way for them having received masks matching their powers, so although I think it's pretty clearly deliberate in terms of the design, it has little relation to the storyline and such.~B~
Sorry. I coundnt really phrase Matau correctly. I know it has no story connection but it think its a nice little Easter egg
  9. Ive just noticed this. Ill start with the Toa MetruOnewa: His character is a bully. His mask power forces people to do thingsMatau: He is a show off. His mask power is pretending to be something he is not.Nokama: Good at understanding. Her mask lets her understand RahiVakama: He is very un self confident and feels like a nobody. His mask makes him invisibleNuju: He is very practical and uses his brain a lot. His mask power lets him move objects with his mindI couldnt really think of one for Whenua but you guys can help me. You can do some for the other characters too.Do you think this was deliberate?

  10. . And I also don't recall Greg ever saying their night vision was learned rather than being their main elemental trait. It was always agreed in these topics on the old forums that night vision was their elemental trait
It would make sense if they adapted to it. I was locked in Dark cage, I would start to see really well in the dark. Im sure it has been said that Onu matorans eyes really hurt when they see light
